Norr looks around for any sort of burrow or passage way, or anything that sticks out in the landscape as they follow the trail to its end.
“It must burrow somewhere, and we are looking for a labyrinth. If not this end of the track, then the opposite. A snake this big, this close to the city, undetected? There’s more at play to this,” says Norr.

”Or it’s just a snake. This is more Casrian’s work than mine. Let’s return to the cart and pry him away from that fruitless lockbox. I can’t see anything in this wood for all these trees. Summer is nice for a day, but I don’t want it for a whole season,” he grumbles.
As Leo gets close enough to notice he sees Dolmek’s eyes are wide and he is breathing rapidly, every once in a while a tremor as he marches along the snake trail. “I I think we’re close could be this sssnake is lairing in the secret tunnel.”
"Aye, you good?"
“Oh well I mean, please don’t say anything to Norr. I’m terribly afraid of snakes it’s strange really we dwarves are quite resistant to venom, I just can’t stand them.”

As the others chase tracks and trails Brix remains with the wagon. He puts his feet up and snoozes for a bit until other travelers appear.
If any appear he jumps down from the cart and approaches them in a friendly manner.
"Excuse me, I was wondering if you could help a fellow out. Won't cost a thing I promise. It's just that while my employer is off hunting he has left me the task of finding our entrance papers. Problem is he never showed them to me and I have several to choose from. If it wouldn't be too much trouble could I see yours so that I can determine the right one? I'm already in hot water for not getting his morning oats correct for breakfast I'd hate to mess this up too."
Pretty soon, a wagon, 2 mules, and a man and a woman arrive in sight. They appear to be a couple. Upon Brix's request the woman smiles and say "Ok, sure. Just make sure not to touch or ruin these papers in any way."
Brix examines the papers closely but not touching them. He then returns to the cart and asks Casrian for a piece of the paper given to him by the guard.
Norr arrives at the cart with the others, and relays what they found.
“—my eyes are eagle sharp, but this creature had the gods’ own luck, and I was foiled by its animal cunning. What do you think, a potential entrance?” he asks as he finishes his embellished recounting.

"Aye, we could probably follow the tracks the other way, and follow it into the castle walls to find a protentional entrance."
Casrian has been engrossed in his letter. The state of the growing camp has him in a wrathful mood. He has written upon several sheets of paper demanding explanation, apology, and all haste to be made to rectify this affront to honor, justice, and common dignity. The Kejsare - long may he reign - must know that such a decree threatens the lives of loyal subjects. Casrian cannot bring himself to openly criticize the Kejsare, but does inquire (as politely as his anger allows) whether the Ministry of Homeland Affairs plans to address these concerns or will they allow the nobility of the Kejsare be tarnished with the epithet of 'tyrant'.
"It is a common wisdom that one should die for the many to live, but this is not in keeping with our own hearts. Far better that none should die if it saves even one innocent life," he writes in closing. "Hail the Kejsare, hail the Santokan Empire, and hail the gods above, who watch over all our deeds."
He sits back, sweating slightly. Someone was talking. He sees the earnest face of Brix and it returns him to the present.
"What was that, Master Brix? Paper? Yes, yes, here you go, there are several sheets left. I will pay that Captain John a gold piece for his generosity. Where are the others? Oh, but here they come now. Seems they've found something?"
Casrian listens to the quick account of Leo, Dolmek, and Norr's hunt.
"Well done, ye mighty hunters," he says good-natured. "Master Brix has something he must do first it seems, and I must visit the Captain of the guard quick to show my thanks. I will also give him the letters to deliver. Our plan to smuggle ((snuggle)) Norr through would only require another letter to be written and I believe the captain is agreeable. I will be right back."
So saying, he pays a visit to Captain John, gives him a gold piece with many thanks and extolling the captain's virtues, and returns to the party, ready to set off into the unknown.

"Aye, we actually found nothing, but I'm thinking we follow the tracks in the opposite direction that we went, as in into the castle walls. These tracks might end up leading to this 'secret entrance'"
Dolmek would like to give his observations to the guards also & ask about any sightings of disappearances of people or livestock.
Persuation 13
While Dolmek goes to inform the guards of what they found, Norr addresses those who remained.
”Assembled humanoids, with the few hours remaining of daylight, I know we shall soon strike out in an effort to cross the wall.
“Whether by delving under or tricking into, there will be dangers in any approach. I suggest we use this time to make any most vital preparations that we can in the brief span we can afford. I know I shall.”
So saying, solemnly, Norr crosses his legs and over the course of thirty to forty-five minutes, he unpicks his braid then refashions it into a more complex weave to lie over his opposite shoulder. When done he looks at the others seriously, seeing their efforts. He nods approvingly.

He frowns. "Aren't you the Dolmek person from earlier? Huh. Snake tracks so near our city's borders... strange. I'll send a patrol to investigate later today. And no, we haven't any recorded disappearances."
Brix takes the paper with a word of thanks. After dumping a bit of charcoal powder from his alchemy supplies on the paper he he closes his eyes and blows across the white sheet. The powder sticks to some areas and blows clear of others. Opening his eyes he looks down at the sheet, gives it a lite shake to clear any excess and then shows the rest a perfect rendition of the paper required to give them passage.
"I would say we should wait till the changing of the guard before we attempt to pass through again and while we wait l'm okay with to check out a plan B entrance." He says.

Norr gives Leo a wry grin, jesting, but not cruelly,
“Indeed. Should we show the secret entrance’s snakey guardsman the proof of rightful entry, I’m sure we should infiltrate New Basin successfully, two times over. I know little of snakes but imagine they have not the eye to detect a forgery made of such masterful skill.”

Norr is not one for making decisions, he is one for following them. He taps his fingers against his bow anxiously. He feels there are very differing preferences for how they enter New Basin.
