While consuming his dinner, Tex toasted few handfuls of nuts, glazed them with a drop of honey and added cinnamon flavour. Then, he ascends to the main deck with the intention to check on the weather and to offer some treats to his companions and the crew. He hadn’t imagined how violent wind and rain would punish a small Kobold on the exposed side of a ship's deck. The loo large hood of his fast buttoned coat pulled over to cover his entire face, he stumbles towards Rel and Zane with both hands constantly holding firm onto the ship, “Do you really think it is safe out here?” He shouts against the wind.
This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
Perception check for Zane: 9.
Zane listens to what Rel has to say. "I agree with your observations."
He looks around, "I don't believe we are here to protect the box. It feels a bit like we are part of bait or an offering. Nothing much we can do about it, but keep our wits about us and try to make it out alive."
Zane stands up, "Lets see if the captain has any ideas about sheltering from this storm."
He goes up to the captain, "The storm approaches fast - is there a place near the coast we could weather the brunt of it before continuing?"
Captain Flame responds to Zane: "We're takin the sails down. As long as the wind doesn't pick up much more we should be alright. Hope you all got your sea legs ready. It's going to get shaky for a bit."
Zane and Bellamy: As the boat turns, you can spot in the dark waters a massive, elongated, serpentine like sea creature. Your best guess would be 20-25 feet long and it appears to be swimming towards the boat.
Bellamy snaps his book closed and slams his cabin door open as he pounds his way up to the deck. He points to where the sea creature is coming from and yells as loud as he can "Giant see creature heading for the ship over there! Everyone brace yourselves!"
Bellamy then preemptively cast mage armor on himself.
Captain Flame startles as Bellamy and Zane shout of a sea monster. He looks out over the bow and sees faintly in a flicker of lightning, the same serpentine beast. "Masts up, masts up! Turn her back starboard and full sail with the wind! Zandir, Raina and Holgen, grab the crossbows and ready them!"
Three crew members rush to the stern of the boat and untie the "in case of emergency" crossbows and begin to ready them. Once the sails are back up the ship begins to turn hard right, the wood paneling creeks under the stress of the sharp hairpin turn. "Hold together Dragonfly, hold together!"
The captain then shouts to the five of you. "I'm not sure Dragonfly will out run that thing, hope you all are capable of more than just guarding a box!"
DM: The creature is about one rounds worth of its movement away from the boat currently. I will give each of you a chance to do something here.
Bellamy looks over the railing at the sea creature. With a waggle of his hand a spellbook floats to his open hand. Pages magically flip to certain spell. Bellamy intones an incantation
he cast phantasmal force creating an illusion of a delicious 10 ft wide fat fish into the mind of the sea creature. The phantasmal fish swims away from the ship in a different direction.
Intel Save DC 14
On fail the phantasmal fish seems completely real to the senses.
He is not really seeing much from his vantage point but shouts about a giant sea creature do trouble Tex. He also finds himself very receptive for the anxiety transmitted by the crew. Still straining his eyes for a visual on the treacherous sea surface, he thought it wise to equip his shield, keep his spear buttoned in easy reach and to hold on tight for an inevitable impact of something rather large.
Rel gasps as her eyes find the creature that Zane points to. Like a purple worm rising from the deeps...
As she stares, her grey irises strobe to black - the same inky color as her pupils, earrings and warhammer. A thin dark tendril extends from her earrings, through her hands and makes gentle contact with the leading edge of the pursuing sea creature. So softly. (Bonus Action Hexblade's Curse).
A jet black beam of beam of force energy shoots forth from her extended palm at the monster: Eldritch Blast to hit: 26 (19 on die counts as CRIT with Hexblade's Curse). Eldritch Blast damage: 18 + 2 from HBC = 20 force damage
As the beam intersects with the creature, it is slammed back through the water (Repelling Blast Invocation: target pushed away 10' regardless of size).
Too late, she wonders whether her attack will distract from Bellamy's illusion.
Expressionless, she retreats just to the entrance down to the cargo hold, standing there both so she can hold on tight in the middle of the vessel where she guesses she has less chance of being thrown off by a collision, and also to observe whether anyone uses the chaos to access Sir Agustin's crate.
Thren will look at his crew then at his war hammer and go “ahh sod it”
When the creature comes with 25ft of the boat you hear Thren yell stand clear you see where the sleeve of tattoos start to crackle with divine lightning and will realise it cause an area to crackle with thunder
As the ship turns and dips, water pours over the side of the boat, drenching the deck. The serpent, barreling through the harsh waters, suddenly veers off away from the boat. As it's head crests above the water you can see it's mouth open wide. Massive dagger like teeth sink down into the water as the beast seems to be...trying to eat something? The boat finishes the tight turn and levels out before the creature suddenly begins it's pursuit of the boat once more.
Captain Flame steadies his hands as the boat now begins to pick up speed, though Bellamy's distraction did slow the creature for a few seconds it is now back on course, closing the gap until suddenly crackling black beam strikes the creature hard. So hard that you can see the 25 foot long serpentine beast torpedo backwards through the water. The creature crests once more as you here it scream "Shhhaaaahhhh!!!"
The beast regains itself and begins it's pursuit once more. Thren and Zane each begin to channel a spell. You see it gaining again, swimming faster now than before and gets to within 25 feet of the boat. Zane and Thren instinctually release there held spells however each seem to be not as effective as intended.
Zane: The beast succeeded the save on bane with an 18 total roll. Thren: The beast succeeded the save on shatter with a 17 total roll. Bellamy: Th ebeast failed the save on phantasmal force with a 3 total roll.
With your clever strategy, the creature was not able to collide with the boat as you slowed it down enough even with it using a dash action.
Captain flame looking back shouts "Impressive! We ain't outta here yet though. Keep it up!"
Rel:As you stand now at the stairs leading to the lower deck, the black haired woman comes running towards, her eyes looking back at the beast in the water. She collides with you, she wipes the water from her face "What is that thing! I don't want to die! I need to get below deck! Let me through!"
Thunder BOOMS once more as a massive flash of light illuminates the sky. The rain and wind becomes fierce, torrential.
Tex shuffles closer to the side of the ship that faces the monster, treading careful and trying to grip onto something at all times. As close as he can get he tries to find a good foothold to stabilise his stand, readies his spear and waits for the serpent to draw in closer for him to get a good throw at it.
Readied action to throw his spear at it as soon as it gets within 15 to 20 feet of him. (Attack 10, Damage 11)
DM: The creature is currently 25 feet from the back of the boat. Looks closer than that just so I could fit the big boy on the screen. Just wanted to clarify
Rel's irises strobe black once more, flicker, then remain the color of the inky tendril which delicately connects her hands to the pursuing sea monster. Pools of shadowy darkness that seem to bore into the young, green woman who has fled her post and his heading below decks (towards the crate).
Peeking around, she lets another jet black beam of force fly from her hand towards the great aquatic serpent: Eldritch Blast to hit: 21 Eldritch Blast damage: 14 + 2 from HBC = 16 force damage (enemy pushed back 10' by Repelling Blast once more).
Without realizing it, Rel reaches for her domineering mother's voice. Drow matron mother and a slaver lord of Menzoberranzan. Her voice booms to echo the crashing thunder in the skies, addressing the young woman with the short black hair and hazel eyes who is fleeing (?) to the cargo hold where Lord Agustin's crate rests, but audible to everyone.
"NO. YOU WANTED TO BE A SAILOR. BE A SAILOR. DO NOT ABANDON YOUR POST OR I WILL KILL YOU MYSELF."
Rel has not had time to don her shield but she holds the doorframe and blocks the way, drawing her jet black warhammer in one hand, the weapon seeming to move lightly in her hands. (That's her Free Action, she takes no Bonus Action).
The immense force of Rel's blast once again shoves this massive beast back.
The black haired woman begins sobbing uncontrollably "I just don't want to die, I want to see my brother again!" She runs off screaming, not watching where she is going, one of the sails booms comes swinging around and whacks her in the head. She falls to the deck, seemingly unconscious. Her body sliding back and forth with the tilt of the boat.

Zane points at the creature and shouts, "INCOMING!" and scrambles up the main mast about 15 feet or so, stopping there to assess the situation next.

Bellamy, you are up
Bellamy summons fire into his hand and hurls it at the sea creature
fire bolt
Attack: 12 Damage: Unable to parse dice roll.
Bellamy then directs Melby his owl to flyby the sea creature using the help action granting the next person advantage for attack.
