Grimbald carefully peers into a wide room that the corridor opens into. The large chamber features a rickety table, a couple of old chairs, and three small humanoids - goblins!
There is another corridor leading out of the room on the far wall.
Augustin can hear voices of small humanoids up ahead. He can hear Vakiel beside him. But without light Augustin - or anyone without dark vision is blind.
Also, Wildhunt. While shifted, you have advantage on Wisdom checks, and no creature within 30 feet of you can make an attack roll with advantage against you unless you’re incapacitated
Steal check if required 3
which is a natural 1 :( *shakes head at utter failure*
The goblins were talking about the game they were playing, but also not having to have to be laying low in the Undercroft for much longer. They are talking about having fun being cruel, having power over the humans in the village above, and how they'll eat all the dogs in the village. Goblins hate dogs, apparently.
They have a natural pause in their conversation, just as Stryke's foot kicks a small rock which, as luck would have it, rolls noisily into the room. The goblins look up and shriek in alarm.
I guess it's initiative time.
Just a reminder that at this point Augustin, and I think Esa, are effectively blind.
As Esa realises Augustin isn't taking the initiative to light a torch, she casts Mage Hand and uses it to take and light one of his torches to hold it in front of them.
Grimbald in the moment he spots the goblins maintains his gaze upon them and in slow deliberate motion, crouches behind a wooden shield (fashioned from a hollowed tree trunk). He braces a hand crossbow atop the shield, and takes aim at the mouth of goblin facing his direction. he is the image of calmness, apart from the nattering of teeth. If he gets a shot away before initiative, otherwise
INITIATIVE 9
Hand crossbow Attack: 8 Damage: 9
Hit or miss he will then move to attempt to block their escape to alert others
IF he gets another action as part of initiative of first round, or subsequent turn he will use hand crossbow for missile range or short sword for melee. same stat
Stryke will cast shillelagh as a bonus action and thorn whip as an action on any trying to escape 30ft range so will move to engage if he needs to 30ft of movement otherwise stay near party
shillelagh 10 to hit 9 damage if in melee
Thorn whip 19 to hit 2 damaged and pulled 10 ft closer to me
Grimbald offers to stealth ahead 30ft if noone else does. no torch. stealth check 18
Esa remains on Augustin's shoulder, but ready to retreat to a better distance at the first sign of trouble.
Test
Unable to parse dice roll.
Grimbald sneaks off ahead without awaiting a reply from the others.
Grimbald make a perception check.

The goblins have not detected Grimbald, they are busy playing dice. The dwarf may choose what to do. They will see him any second though.
The chamber is dark and the goblins are likely supposed to be on guard duty. They have a small pile of iron bits they are gambling with.
Stryke will be 30ft behind grimbald and will shift when he can perceive the goblins18
He will also motion the noisy human to be quiet
Stryke hears the goblins long before he gets to the room and shifts into
Augustin is blind at this point. He listens.
Perception check 12. (This is on my phone so hope it works).

Stryke speaks goblin, anything of note.
