I go towards the drag marks and start trying to pick up the track. "Righto gents I think we'll need to follow these tracks" I'll start moving off If find the tracks. Scanning and listening.
Eedim watches his companions backs, Kargan puts the goblin out of its misery, Kriynor checks the horses for signs of life and for more clues as to what occurred to their masters. Titus moves to the north cautiously searching for signs where Gudren and Sildar were dragged off to.
A short while later Titus finds a trail further into the woods and signs of many goblin tracks along with the drag marks of what could be some unconscious captives. The scene is too confused for him to confidently know how many goblins or captives, or how old the tracks are.
OOC: Are Eedim and Kriynor moving with Titus and Kargan? If so what is your marching order?
The track leads away form he ambush site to the northwest. There is obvious evidence that the Goblins use this track quite often. The drag marks continue along the trail with small spots of blood every so often.
You move along the trail to the northwest. Titus moves a short way off and ahead in the forest keeping an eye out for danger. Eedim moves stealthily along covering the rear ready to shoot anything that threatens form that quarter with his crossbow. Kargan and Kriynor move up the trail at a quick pace. A short while later Kargan spots a rather clumsy snare on the track and alerts his companions and they avoid it.
OOC:[you can also deactivate it if you like]
Kargan stumps along at a brisk pace the lure of smashing goblin heads together drawing him along. Kriynor follows Kargan, about 10 feet behind the dwarf, when spies a suspicious looking swathe of ground on the trail. Unfortunately as he cries out to Kargan too late, the dwarfs heavy boot lands and keeps doing down with a cracking of branches.
OOC: Kargan please make a Dex Save with a DC of 10 to avoid falling in the cleverly concealed pit the goblins dug for unwary pursuers.
This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
Kargan falls into the goblin pit trap taking 6 bludgeoning damage!
The walls of the trap are not too steep or smooth and he climbs out with little difficulty. His dignity suffering more than his body.
Moving on further down the track the forest and trail are both quiet at this time. Soon Titus spots the trail moving slightly more north as it begins to follow a small slow flowing shallow stream.
The forest begins to thin out into a small clearing and before you is a large cave in a hillside. You have travelled five miles from the scene of the ambush. The shallow stream flows out of the cave mouth, which is screened by dense briar thickets. A narrow dry path leads into the cave on the right-hand side of the stream. The other side of the stream seems to be blocked by dense impenetrable thorny bushes.
The stream itself is about 5 feet wide and 2 or so feet deep. The mouth of the cave is about 5 feet high and 5 feet wide, so the stream fills the entrance. The the thicket ion the right side of the stream is about 25 to 30 feet long and looks like it buts up tot he hillside. The thicket on the left is only about 5 to 10 feet deep, 20 foot long and stops 10 feet short of the cave entrance.
Each square is 5 feet. You are hiding a the intersection of the forest edge and the entrance of the path/stream. So about 50 to 60 feet back on the left hand side of the stream.
Kargan looks at the hillside and judges it a difficult climb but possible.
Titus moves up along the eastern side of the stream trying to stick to the cover of the thicket that extends from the forest all the way to the east side of the cave mouth.
Eedim hides in covering the rear with hi crossbow handy to support anyone in trouble or catch ambushes unaware.
Kriynor watches from the forest edge with the impatient dwarf.
Titus moves along the thicket edge. It is impassable for the most part, though he thinks he can see a few place here he could push through with some effort; perhaps incurring a few gashes from the remarkably large thorns.
When he gets to about 20 feet from . he cave mouth he notices the thicket has thinned somewhat and he can see a hollow area cleared out of the thicket itself.
It forms a kind of secret blind where two goblins sit bored eating some food and talking quietly.
Neither are aware of Titus watching them through the thicket. Titus also see an opening near the cave mouth about 15 feet ahead. The thicket is still quiet thick and would give the goblins good cover if they were to be fired upon, though they could fire out reasonably well. As boards have been pressed against the thicket on the inside forming a kind of walk with spots for firing from cover outwards.
OOC: The rest of the party are about 50 feet behind Titus's position at the forests edge on the western side of the stream.
I look around at the rest of the party and start to worry that we might not be able to take on a second fight with these goblins in our current state.
‘We should rest a couple of hours and tend to our wounds if we are taking the fight to the rest of these goblin scum, i wish to cleanse this forest of the goblin rot and get back our friend when we clash again and although i can magically heal us now i feel it would be better to save that power for a fight!’

You have stopped at forests edge, what do you do?
how far is it from the forest edge to the cave?
