“ Listen, I’ll let you go but I’m taking the coin purse “
Castien promised the tiefling, as he bent down and picked up the coin purse while holding her in place with his mage hand
“ Besides, the last thing you need is the police involved, the more attention you draw to yourself, the easier you’ll get caught the next time you steal “
Castien didn’t mind thieves, outlaws or other. he’s sure he’s wanted in some shape or form for his line of work and the death it brings, but thieves often steal for the thrill or to simply survive, no judgement
Castien questioned, raising a quizzical brow as he trains his wolf like hearing towards the shopkeeper who the Tiefling has stolen from, trying to see if he’s nearing them or not
“ She’s with me and I’ve already reprimanded her. “
Castien said pointedly at the patron, bearing his sharp canine teeth at the other
“ Now you can have your coin back “
he effortlessly chucked the coin purse at the patron and took a step closer because no one is being lashed on his watch, especially not by humans who’ll make this thieves life a living hell
“ But she is leaving with me, do we have an understanding? “
The man opens his mouth as if to protest but, upon seeing Castien's visage, he instead gapes his mouth open and shut several times like a fish out of water before retreating back the way he came.
The man looks from Castien to the coin purse in his hand. He seems to consider his options for half a moment and then heads back to the shops at a speed faster than a walk but not quite a jog.
Castien sighs to himself, he still has to get the herbs but he couldn’t sit back and let this happen, turning his sights on the Tiefling he inhaled and exhaled deeply
“ I suggest you get out of here too, in case he changes his mind “
The Herbalist is an old woman with a deeply lined face but at Castien's questions her countenance brightens and she looks a full decade younger. She's clearly unused to someone who understands her art.
"Greetings and welcome! You're not from around here are you?"
"I've been tending to these fools since their parents were babes. It's a pleasure to see a new face and and educated mind. Here follow me. What is it that you need?"
The woman's shop is orderly and well stocked. With her help it takes Castien only a few minutes to gather anything he might need.
(OOC: She has Mistletoe, Cedar leaves, and Evergreen. Is there anything else Castien's looking for?)
(mistletoe: asking price 1gold coin aka 1 GP)
(Plant mixtures to avoid being tracked/detected by scent: asking price 5 GP per 1 use)
This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
“ Mistletoe, Cedar and Evergreen leaves preferably mixed, please “
Castien relieved as he followed the shopkeeper to her herbs, he read the prices on small wooden board above each herb, now there was no problem for the asking price of Mistletoe, but the plant mixtures were a little steep
“ Could I persuade you to lower your price on the plant mixture, to 2gp? I of course will be buying in bulk “
Castien needed the extra bag of mixed plants in case one wasn’t enough, with two he stands an even greater chance of masking his sent
“ You got yourself a deal”
he took out 10 gold pieces
“ I don’t suppose you have this rare herb called vervain? “
now this was a rare herb but folklore states it could poison vampires, then again it was hard to come by because it only grew in certain places, so wouldn’t be surprised if they didn’t have it
“ If not, I’ll just take a herbalism kit if you have one? “

The Tiefling snarls a bit, but stops resisting the mage hand, seeming to accept Castien at his word. She nods towards the coin purse.
"Go ahead and take it. Like I said, it was already laying there. I never touched it."
“ Then why are they calling you a thief? “
Castien questioned, raising a quizzical brow as he trains his wolf like hearing towards the shopkeeper who the Tiefling has stolen from, trying to see if he’s nearing them or not

It's not a shopkeeper, but a patron who approaches, well dressed and livid.
"Caught at last, you damned rascal! You'll be placed in the stocks and lashed, or worse if I have my way!"
Turning to Castien he says, "I'm grateful to you, sir."
“ She’s with me and I’ve already reprimanded her. “

Castien growls lowly at the patron and came over a little animalistic
“ Leave. “

The Tiefling shoots Castien a glare but then nods. As the mage hand releases her she dashed off down the street away from the shops.
OOC: I forgot to write in the mage hand, whoops
Castien watches the Tiefling go and then heads over to the herbalist, he’ll later head towards the graveyard when it’s sundown
“ Excuse me, how much is your mistletoe and do you have any leaves from cedar trees or evergreens? “
He asked politely, putting the beast back in its box and conserving his energy

“ Is it that obvious? “
he said jocularly as he took his coin purse from his belt and opening it, hoping that this’ll be a smooth transaction

"I haven't seen any vervain in years...but...I wonder..."
She starts to root through some small dusty boxes on a neglected shelf behind the counter. Every so often, she opens one and sniffs at the contents.
"Hmmm...I may still have a bit dried and hidden away. Can you come back tomorrow?"
She turns and walks back to Castien.
"As for a Herbalist's Kit, I should be able to provide you with all the equipment you'll need. How's 5 Gold sound for the lot?"
“ I already paid you 10 for the plant mix, is it possible you could do a little bit lower on the the herbalist kit? “
Castien asked, hoping that they could persuade them, but glad to hear that there might be a chance to get that rare herb
