Hello. Welcome, you have been accepted into the Monastery of Universal knowledge, a academy for all monks meant to help them learn and better themselves, and to help them learn of the world outside the temple. I am Professor Libreth, the headmaster of this academy, and I am here to say that you must consider yourself either lucky of rather talented to have been accepted into such a academy. I look forward to meeting you later on
Description:
This will be a rp heavy campaign, and I need players who are deeply committed. Also I do not want anyone who posts responses that are only two or three sentences long, mainly due to the fact that they can be a bit boring to read. However, we will have some combat encounters in this campaign. You all will be starting off at level 10, and you will roll three sets of ability scores and pick whichever suits you best. You will pick starting equipment along with another extra weapon of your choice, alongside a magic item(A scroll, a wonderous item, a magical weapon, etc). I, the DM, will also be participating at Professor Libreth. All races are allowed. However, you HAVE to be a monk. However, I would like a variety on subclasses. If you want to use any homebrew races, items, or anything else, pass it by me first.

(Oh, no... this post is incredibly short! That's the end for me, I guess... 😉)
This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.

So, this is like a monastic Strixhaven? Very cool.
Questions:
#1 What rarity of magic item can we pick?
#2 May we buy and sell equipment at face value? I may not need a hundred knives, but may need a candle.
#3 You mentioned part of the curriculum is learning about the outside world. Does this mean we joined the academy at a young age or that it's a big world out there, folks?

Personality description: Nargun is an affable giant of a woman, she always sees everyones best side....though it leaves her open to manipulation she doesn't particularly mind as long as everyone is happy.
Their fear, flaws, strengths: Fear- failing to protect those in her care. Flaws- Easily manipulated. Strengths- unstoppable.
Backstory:- Nargun was born from the union of stone and stars, or at least thats what the old mason who raised her said, the tiny girl child he had found in the river valley grew...and grew...she had an affinity for the stone....and for the djuru he had learned from his father.
In time the old man passed and Nargun kept growing, her skills as both a mason and a practioner of silat increased and when attackers came to the village they were both put to good use.
How they will pay for their tuition: All monasterys need masons.
Class: Way of the Drunken Master/College of Lore Bard
Personality: Nemit stays drunk all the time. He is a happy-go-lucky drunk preferring to inspire and make jokes most of the time, but when his mood sours so do his words can his opponents to the core. He likes not to use weapons and prefers defense when possible.e
Background. Nemit likes to make jokes, often at his own expense. He hides behind his humor and in his mug or wineskin, to avoid thinking and talking about his past. He has traveled to this monk school to further hide from the demons that follow him. When happily drunk, he can be pressed for information about his past as a soldier, but the wrong line of questioning will bring out his angry side.
Plans of paying for tuition by performing and brewing for local taverns.
Personality description: Very direct and literal, with a quick temper that he's trying to master.
Their fear, flaws, strengths: Huzur is afraid the rage and anger in him will never be something he can master and he will fall back in to his old ways as a ruthless assassin. While Huzur can be exceptionally calm, rational and serene, that can turn when provoked and he can become enraged and menacing. When he can find the balance between everything he was and everything he wishes he was, he's a strong ally to have with you.
Backstory: Huzur couldn't tell you where he's from or how he ended up living on the streets or whether his father was really his father or not. But the man who claimed to be his father was an underworld fixer of sorts. Huzur's natural agility and soft touch was put to good use from an early age. His father would send him into the homes of targets to poison the inhabitants or steal what they were hired to steal. By the time Huzur reached his late teens, he had lost track of how many people he had killed or hurt.
The final assignment his father sent him on was to convince a city councilor to vote to allow a crime boss to be named head of the city watch. The councilor was a cleric, and a healer, and they wouldn't allow any such thing to happen. Huzur ended up killing them. But from that moment on, he began to be haunted by the faces of all of his previous victims. For the first time, Huzur realized what he had become. He turned away from his father and has sought to make amends for his actions ever since. He ended up being guided by an old monk who introduced him to the Way of Mercy, but Huzur has absorbed all the old monk had to teach and he has come to the Monastery of Universal Knowledge to continue learning.
The faces still appear to him and he worries they always will, no matter what he does.
Appearance: A lean, scarred, and tattooed greenish-gray skinned, tusked half-orc.
How they will pay for their tuition: While killing and violence ate away at Huzur's soul, it did pay well. What he didn't end up donating to charity when he chose this path has gone to pay for his tuition.
Race: Mark of the Shadow Elf (if not available, then Moon elf)
Subclass: Way of the Ascendant Dragon or Way of the Astral Self
Background: Noble
Personality description: Most of the time, he is Light hearted and chipper, though he can be utterly serious if he deems it necessary. Won't pass up the chance to take advantage of a situation.
Their fear, flaws, strengths: His biggest fear is that he will fail to complete his goal, and his family will be placed into unfit hands. His flaws are that he tends to be a bit annoying to some people, mostly because he likes to try to take advantage of people's hospitality. His biggest strength is in his training, he may sometimes act like he's useless, but he can keep an incredibly level head in most situations. He's also very good at acting like a fool.
Backstory (No less than a paragraph of 5 sentences): Seventh son to an extremely wealthy and powerful noble, Shugo never really had the chance to inherit the title, he was also never really viewed as anything special nor did he receive as many privileges as his elder siblings. That's fine with him though, so long as he's fed he doesn't particularly care if he inherits even a shred of his parent's power.
For most of his life, all that's been required of him has been that he trains his mind and body so he can protect the next head of the family. Problem is, he doesn't really think to highly of his eldest brother Kozu...or the second son Ryzo. Both of them clearly think way to highly of themselves and he's sure neither of them would make good leaders. (On top of that, they don't seem to like their younger brothers hanging around...) Why didn't his father see that? The old man seems to only see those two as potential candidates for his seat. Though he is smart enough to at least give them some kind of test... He's asked them to find some sort of new knowledge that the family can use, though by 'new' he's including ancient forgotten arts. Now how does that make sense? No matter, this test has given Shugo a plan.
Out of all his siblings, his third eldest sister Akari, is the only one he see's fit to rule. She has a kind heart, a strong will, and a good sense of justice. Unfortunately, she is not strong in body. In fact, she can hardly escape the confines of her room. ...That is where he comes in. If he can find some new knowledge or power, then he can give it to her, and SHE could be the head of the family. Then, if she needs protection, she'd have him. With her in charge, he wouldn't have to worry about his family falling apart, plus he knows she'd always give him a place to stay.
Now all he has to do is find something to impress his old man... it's been seven years since he shared his plan with Akari, received her approval and set off on his quest. He's made great progress in his training... at least, he thinks he has...but little to none on finding anything to get him any closer to his goal. So he decided to take another approach... where else to find some special knowledge than the Monastery of Universal Knowledge?
How they will pay for their tuition: Akari has agreed to channel funding wherever Shugo may need it, though they are trying to keep it under wraps as they do not want Kozu or Ryzo finding out their plan. So far they've been successful in this, but it's left Shugo with very little to spend for himself. He's been basically living as a peasant since he left.
EDIT: Since I can't provide a character sheet unless chosen, (I don't have access to those subclasses) I suppose I should say which magic item i would choose. I'm thinking I will go with Bracers of Defense.

There he was found and taken in by an order of monks serving the goddess Shar. He was brought up with a strict regimen and and was stripped of his compassion, empathy and humanity while being taught the dark secrets of the order. He served the order and his goddess unquestioningly for many years, striking against the hateful light of the goddess Selûne before he one night reached a shrine devoted to the Moonmaiden where he came face to face with his elder sister. Her presence helped him remember who he really was and he fled the fight in shame, wandering the shadows until he one day came to a decision to spend his remaining years trying to repent, hoping to find a new better purpose at a Monastery of Universal knowledge. He fears the light and is ashamed of his past. He still struggles with finding compassion and empathy. He will pay his tuition fees with wealth he stole from his old order.
