Jumping on Elroy's back, "I have heard a little bit about Old Ones, but that was when I was studying how to be a Warlock and what it was. I would rather stick to Fiends, it's safer for you."
"Desperation. Nyogtha has no cult, and therefore nobody to do his dirty work. Hopefully he doesn't make us do anything important. Also, making a pact with the fiends is like taking all of your gold and important documents and putting them in a sack labeled "IMPORTANT: DO NOT STEAL", then tossing the sack into the thieve's guild headquarters. A deal with the old ones is like throwing that sack into an insane asylum."
Sylrea looked around silently as everyone talked. Everyone but her seemed to know of this creature. After a moment she realized that nobody had said something that everyone should know. Well, maybe they already did and she just wasn't paying attention. She decided to speak up and ask anyway. "So. Say we see these Old Ones face to face. If we can even do that. And a fight breaks out. How would we protect ourselves against them?"
"That's not good. Why are we fixing this problem? We should get the godly forces to pull their weight, the Old Ones are there enemy aren't they? A few angels or Devils would be far more effective then use bumbling around." Hopping off Elroy to go to Sylrea, "I don't want to become a slave or insane to some monster. So I protect you and you protect me, if we go crazy at least we have company."
Fuzzyfeet pulls out the magical box and speaks to Elroy.
"So, do we walk to this cave filled with madness you're talking about or do we have to toss this box into the water and row ourselves to another plane of existence?"
"We will find the cave, Nyogtha will gate us to our destination, hopefully. Also, the gods generally avoid the great old ones. Also, devils would be more of a burden than anything, and Angels are too self-righteous to be any help here."
Cedrick looks around feeling uncomfortable in the stifling humid heat. "We shall overcome, and see our mutual friend again, rest assured."He readies himself then approaches the cave entrance.
As the group ponders the situation, and the choice of which path to follow, Cedrick recalls a bit from his teachings. To his friends he says "As my teacher and friend Grizzarold instructed me years ago, 'When faced with a problem it is best to start at the beginning and work your way through to the end.' so, to that end, we should start at the beginning, or path 1."

“ You referred to ancient battles with powerful gods. Why would a being so great even consort with us?”

Cedrick looks to his companions and to Elroy. "Best to get moving then, and get the unpleasantness over with as quickly as possible."

The journey to the cave is long and unpleasant and very humid. The horrible cave looms ahead, a gaping maw into the belly of the beast.
"We're here."
