Recently, I've made my own TTRPG system and now I want to run a campaign using it to see how everything works in practice. I'm currently looking for 3-4 players to run the game for on Discord.
The system is built to be easily used in almost any setting or genre and the character creation rules were built to allow nearly any character concept to be built. For the setting that I plan to run though, I want to use the default setting.
It is a 90s - early 2000s modern setting. Things were going normally until portals to hell opened up and demons invaded. Now the PCs must figure out a way to survive and thrive in this sudden apocalyptic scenario.
The setting is not horror however. It has horror themes with the demonic invasion but it's supposed to be more on the light side of things.
If you want to try it out, please leave your timezone any time you might be available in a week. Depending on interest and timezone differences, I may run this as PBP or as a once-a-week session. If I see that there is enough players with matching schedules, I'll run a session for them. If schedules don't match, then I'll be posting with PBP with daily updates.
If you would like to ask any questions about this whole thing, please feel free to leave them here and I will answer them.
For character sheets, simply record all relevant information (will be explained when the rules are shared) in a .txt file or a paper. There's no official character sheet so as long as you record things in a way that is convenient for you and let me know all of it, it's fine.
As for rolling, I will have a Discord dice bot added for rolls.
There isn't exactly any specified classes. You build your character by picking an archetype (which effects a bunch of different things) and then you pick powers which essentially function like feats in 5E.
Oh and there's an extensive list of character race options. Elves, Dwarves, orcs, and a whole host of animal-human type character races. So if you wanted to play something like Disney's robin hood, that's also a thing you can do.
I'm interested in PBP and am also EST, but I work 3rd shift so my sleep schedule/playing hours might be different from Kaylon's. Big fan of post apocalypse style games, so very interested to see what you have planned story-wise!
Fair warning, I love discord for play by post but I've had problems in the past because the higher post rates are a bit too disruptive for my home life. Better mark me down as an alternate in case you come up short on initial players or need a short-term fill in.
Okay. So far it looks like we'll be going with the PBP route. In that case, I'll set the minimum posting rate to once a day. I'll be posting more as I get to react to PC actions. But if there are no posts I'll bump after 24 hours.
Need like 1 or 2 more players though since groverbloom mentioned that he'd be an alternate.
It really comes down to what the actually post rate ends up being. My first discord campaign had an official 2-3 posts/day expectation. In practice, the game was basically running 24-7 with an average post rate of 20+/day. If the post rate is legitimately going to be a few times a day or within a certain window of time, I can fully commit. I just don't want to let anyone down if it gets more intense than that (which has been my experience with discord PBP's).
It's kinda hard to predict what the post rate will eventually become but I don't think it will get that bad? I mean it might spike on some days but I don't see it getting to that expectation.
My apologies. I just went back and reread my post and I have no idea what my point was there. I guess I'm trying to say that I'd love to be more than an alternate, but I'm also worried about flaking out on you if I can't keep pace with the group. Please forgive my rambling tonight as too much caffeine and not enough sleep. Wife's doing a DIY project in the room next to our bedroom and there was a belt sander involved😴🧰🔨🪚😬
I mean. There's going to be a demon invasion within almost 5 minutes of the game starting so not much of the 90s and 2000s pop culture will show up. I'd be happy to have you if you're still up for it.

I am very interested, sounds like a fun theme and I am very open to trying out a new system. I am EST, but I would have to be PbP.
How would we handle character sheets and rolling?

Thanks for the information, sounds fun!

Sounds like fun. I'm central time and have no problem with a play by post. I work 3 shift so have all the time during the day

Oh! In that case I'll wait for one more person to post interest and then send Discord server invites.
Sent discord invites. I'll keep recruiting open in case one more person wants to join here.
I would like to check this out! A setting in the 90s-2000s is a great idea. I grew up in these decades so it could be fun to relive it a bit haha

Totally still up for it....I meant more so my character referencing things
Alright then. That should be enough people. Imma close recruitment now.
Opening this back up because 2 people dropped out.
