Character Name: Rathakk Race: Half-Orc Class: Wizard Background: Sage Ability Scores: STR-12(+2) DEX-14 CON-13(+1) INT-14 WIS-12 CHA-8 Alignment: Lawful Neutral (no evil) Character Description:
Physical Description:
Gentle Giant: Rathakk is by no means a short humanoid. Standing as tall as six foot six, he would tower over most if not for the often times need to stay hunched over for one reason or the other. What little of his build that can be seen past patchwork layers of robes, tunics, pants, and so on puts him a solid position to be a decent laborer or body guard. Yet, the closest thing he comes to intimidating lies in default expectations of a tusked being such as himself.
Lord of Patches: Rathakk possess not one shred of clothing that doesn't appear to have been patched together at some point or another. The closest to he comes to wearing something thus far undamaged by the elements or otherwise is a pair mysterious frameless spectacles nestled firmly on head.
Pencil Pushers Arsenal: Rathakk's only real obvious armaments are the daggers sheathed at his side, and... a walking stick. There is also a strange obsidian orb that faintly radiates cold in one of the many thick pockets on his robe. But that almost never sees the light of day if he can help it.
Personality Description:
Rathakk can best be described as tough, but fair and loyal to a fault. He otherwise cares little for slackers, and to a lesser extent nobles. While he is not above extending proper courtesies as do of their positions, abuse of it and the means known to him of previous acquisition has left him sore on the subject. He can be gentle soul... when he wants to be. But otherwise prefers gestures or monosyllabic phrases for expedience those typically provide in conveying his point. He is otherwise a lover of the arcane, history, myths -- just about anything really if its printed and deeply detailed in the pages of a book.
Knowing, however, how limited the interest of others on less 'practical' studies given the more rustic society he finds himself apart of, he tries to contain himself when presented opportunities to explore or ramble about the given subject. But once he starts, its difficult to convince him to stop before the thought is complete.
Backstory:
Once brilliant but shy Petra latched onto the first excuse to leave Heldren, hoping as much as to escape the fulfilling but dull humdrum of the village as she yearned to someday somehow justified in the brash decision. And return she did over a decade later, a haggard and haunted woman seemingly held together by a bundle in her arms. Naturally, there were a lot of questions thrown her way; especially after the nature of the bundle became clear. But few dare to actual pry deep, for many have heard more than one tale of interactions between orc and men even so far out of the way. And, if there was truly more to the story, she never speaks of it. Except perhaps to her son once he grew older, if only in snippets that left him distasteful of nobles.
There was no hiding the differences between Rathakk and those around him. And after his initial foray into trying to blend in, he learned the hard way of the futility of the act. Still, and if only out of spite at first, he took a different approach to integration that would -- while still setting him apart from most of his peers -- at least over time diminish the belief of his being no different than the parent responsible for his grey-green skin. He found particular kinship in the few dwarves and gnomes of the village, for he admired there dedication to their craft. Be it smith work, tinkering, or rare debate of arcane practices of the past, he relished the opportunity to learn when time permitted it.
And when not, he busied himself with his mother's teachings or assisting folk around the town with various tasks. While Petra did not relish the reminder of all that happened in the past, she nevertheless saw Rathakk's sometimes insatiable consummation of anything on the subject of magic as a reminder of herself in the past. Only this time, she would make sure that her son did not fall for the same pitfalls that made her so desperate to abandon home. Even so, as the years went by and the weather seemed to only worsen with time, Rathakk found it harder to keep his nose buried in a books. Just maybe, MAYBE, it was about time to put more thought into uses for his abilities than simply getting by and touch of magical assistance of his fellow heldren.

Character Name: Dar’quilyn Redn’Avir Race: High elf Class: Wizard (Bladesinger) Background: Entertainer Ability Scores: STR 8 DEX 16 CON 12 INT 16 WIS 10 CHA 13 Alignment: LG Character Description: A slender elf, with black hair and golden eyes. He wears practical yet elegant traveling clothes, grey with embroidements of blue silk. He wears a rapier on his left hip and his spellbook attached on a leather strip around his back. He wears a indigo cloack.
Please note that I am not longer sure where options like Bladesinger (in the future) or the Entertainer background came, I mean, I am not sure of the source. Anyway, if I join the campaign you will be able to see any content I add to the character. Thanks!
Personality traits
I’ll settle for nothing less than perfection.
I know a story relevant to almost every situation.
Ideal
Tradition. The stories, legends, and songs of the past must never be forgotten, for they teach us who we are. (Lawful)
Bond
I idolize a hero of the old tales and measure my deeds against that person’s.
Flaws
I have trouble keeping my true feelings hidden. My sharp tongue lands me in trouble.
Backstory:
Dar’quilyn was raised with the histories of his father, the renowed bladesinger Tarin’thilan Redn’Avir.
Nor only his father was a renowed hero fo the kingdom before the elves leave Kyonin several hundred years ago, but he was one of leading the fight against Treerazer and his minions, to the point that he used his enchanted blade to inflict a grievious wound on the demon in the final fight against him. Unfortunately his father died in that fight.
By that time he was already beign raised both as a wizard and as a dancer and musician. His training included a fairly amount of swordplay. He was determined to be one of the best baldesingers that the elven people had ever known. Like his father. The death of Tarin’thilan only strengthened his resolve to become one of the few bladesinger of the young (for elven standars) recovered nation of Kyonin. His passion made him impatient and too rash and bold for his own good. It was true that he had already mastered all the spells required, and his swordplay and dancing skills were almost flawless, but he still had a lot to learn, patience among other things. But that was the only test he failed, and the day of his graduation as a true bladesinger never seems to come.
But before he could end his training, rumors of a strange spreading winter reached the Queen Elandia, and the rumors spread like fire. Some said that it was just himan exagerations, others that the Winter Queen had taken control over the Feywild and was spreading her domains, others that probably the humans had killed Baba Yaga and now they were paying the price.
The young elf, he is only 135, saw this as his opportunity to probe his instructors that he is ready to enter the bladesingers and had left Iadara in search of this human village, Heldren, to solve the mistery and probe himself.
Character Name: Brytlyn Durthane Race: Hill Dwarf Class: Rogue (Mastermind) Background: Criminal Ability Scores: Str 13, Dex 15, Con 12, Int 11, Wis 12, Cha 13 (Point buy with racial modifiers) Alignment: True Neutral Character Description: Brytlyn is dark skinned, with short black hair. Her skin is marred with whip scars along her back and arms, with a few peeking up from the neckline of her armor, and her dark green eyes are constantly scanning for danger. She carries at least one dagger with her at all times. Backstory:
Brytlyn was born into slavery. She spent nearly 50 years under various slave masters in Kelesh. When her fifth master died, his heirs squabbled over his inheritance, temporarily throwing his empire into chaos. She took advantage of the insanity to escape, and spent another 50 years on the run, stealing what she could. After 20 years she found herself in Galt, where she met another dwarf named Torrik, who had escaped Isarn during the most recent upheaval. The two settled in a small, secluded village. When Torrik revealed he had left one of Galt's thieves guild, he taught Brytlyn his tricks. Then, his old guild found him, and pulled some strings to get Torrik declared an enemy of the state. When a Grey Gardener arrived, Brytlyn barely escaped, and ran for another 30 years. In the last few decades, she's become a little less flighty, and has even bought a small house in the small village of Heldren, where she does small smith work, which gives her an excuse to frequently travel to nearby cities, where she spends a week pickpocketing and robbing small merchants, usually ones who traffic in slaves, although she stays far away from any actual slavers, who terrify her to this day. Her difficult life has made her sarcastic and very slow to trust, but she shows a different face to the world. As far as the villagers of Heldren are concerned, she's Brittany, friendly smith who's always willing and ready to share a pint.
Personality: Brytlyn is fairly caustic and rarely talks freely. She is very very very slow to trust, and is a subscriber to the "everyone's an idiot or evil until proven otherwise" worldview. However, she is perfectly willing to have her mind changed about someone, especially through fighting or planning a heist with them. Anyone who hates slavers automatically goes up a notch in her regard. As Brittany, she is friendly and willing to chat with anyone who enters her smithy. She teaches a small self-defense class to the younger girls in Heldren, and Brytlyn has become genuinely attached to most of her pupils.

Yes, of course he must have had good success to afford to settle down without working these last 40 years, but his outlandish yarns were only good for a laugh in the evenings when he told them by the fireside. No one believed, that is, until his third grandson was born.
"Blessed by a dragon, I was, for saving her eggs from bandits! Her scales were as gold as the sun at dawn, I tell ya! Lovely, she was, lovely." That blessing bore fruit in the form of Meriwether, his namesake, born with those same gleaming scales patching his body. From that day forward, Meriwether the younger (Mer to his friends) was marked for greatness, at least in his family's eyes. Growing up different in so small a town as Heldren was no easy task. Mer persevered, learning what he could about surviving ("A vital skill for any adventurer, my boy!") and the arcane magic that flowed naturally through his blood. From his peers, he learned how to charm and bluff his way out of being bullied, twisting their cruel words and turning them into sweet compliments. Now Mer is rapidly approaching his 20th birthday, and the pressure is mounting to leave his grandfather's house and make his way in the world.
Personality traits: I face problems head-on. A simple, direct solution is the best path to success.
Ideals: Noble Obligation. It is my duty to protect and care for the people beneath me. (Good) Live and Let Live. Ideals aren’t worth killing over or going to war for. (Neutral)
Bonds: Those who fight beside me are those worth dying for.
Flaws: I’d rather eat my armor than admit when I’m wrong. I do not have a gambling (dice) problem.
Calith is the fourth son of a wealthy merchant from the city of Oppara in Taldor. Recognizing that his place in the birth order would not lead to a great inheritance he also knew that he did not possess either the intelligence or charisma needed to engage in his father's business of trade. He spent his time among the caravan guards as well as some time in the Taldan Phalanx as a foot soldier and grew in stature as well as earning a well deserved reputation for his prowess in combat. He found that he did not like the rigid control of the military life and since he spent most of his time guarding caravans through the Blackwood Swamp he left at the earliest chance and returned to work for his father as a caravan guard where he had greater freedom and could travel wider.
His military time and work with his father's caravan guards allowed him to travel and gain experience in other languages other than his own. Proficient in Common, Elvish, Dwarvish and the trade language of Undercommon he could communicate with those he came into contact with while working the trade routes. He prefers to spend his time playing dice with soldiers and other guards. While he is comfortable in rough taverns he also knows how to behave in respectable inns.
Unfortunately for Calith, his gambling issues have caused problems for him. His father has removed him from his position in the caravan guards.
Worst of all, his father found out about his indiscretions while passing some unknown small village that didn't even have a proper inn! And here he is, his father, his job, the caravan all gone. With his pack, weapons and some coins Calith is now on a new path...

Backstory: Karius has lived apart from the people of Heldren for many years and where he came from before that is unknown to the rest of the folk in the area. He stays outside of town, providing help to the local farms if needed but is generally unwilling to mix with the populace. His druidic powers are still in their infancy but he clearly cares about the land and the creatures living there, although the limited interaction with others has indicated to them that there is a darkness in him that lurks in the background for all that he works hard to keep it from bubbling to the surface.
Now the land calls out to him in warning, the spreading false winter screams out as being unnatural in origin and Karius has decided that he must work with others to understand what is happening and how to fight it, the cost to himself is unimportant compared to the need of the land.

Vhon - Level 2 Warlock - What shall become of the Drunken Sailor?
Alignment: Chaotic Good Character Description: Fennrick
Background: Connected to the Fey (Uthgard Tribe Member)
Feature: One with the Land (Uthgardt Heritage) You have an excellent knowledge of not only your tribe’s territory, but also the terrain and natural resources of the rest of the North. You are familiar enough with any wilderness area that you find twice as much food and water as you normally would when you forage there.
Additionally, you can call upon the hospitality of your people, and those folk allied with your tribe, often including members of druid circles, tribes of nomadic elves, and the priesthoods devoted to the gods of the First Circle.
Personality Traits: - I’m driven by a wanderlust that led me away from home. - I’m always picking things up, absently fiddling with them, and sometimes accidentally breaking them. - I watch over my friends as if they were a litter of newborn pups.
Ideals: Change. Life is like the seasons, in constant change, and we must change with it. (Chaotic)
Bonds: An injury to the unspoiled wilderness of my home is an injury to me.
Flaws: I am too enamored of ale, wine, and other intoxicants.
Backstory: Born in the village of Braslewark to an engineer and architect, Fennrick knew early that he was different. Preferring to spend his time in the forest rather than learn a trade like his parents. He felt a connection that many of his kind didn’t seem to have or if they did ignored.
As he grew older he spent more and more time away and eventually estranged himself. Drawn to travel, he decided to head east. He traveled to many places and spent time with many different types of rural and woodland folk.
Recently settled in the Borderwood near a village called Heldren, he spends his time exploring the land. Recently though, he has had dark feelings that things were off and he wants to find out what is causing those feelings.
Time Zone: Eastern, I can post regularly during the day.
Just posting an update: Thank you everybody for your interest and patience. Things are still on schedule and I will be making my final selections tonight, sending messages sometime after midnight. The game thread will be posted Friday night at 9 pm (Central Time). On Thursday, please be prepared to answer some backstory questions in case your character is selected.
Character Details (please note that I'm submitting several different characters, so if one strikes out at you then send me a message)
1st character:
Name: Meridious Risgar
Age: 24
Race: Half Elf
Gender: Male
Class: Bard (Valor)
Physical Description: Tall, generally fit but not muscular, short blonde hair that's very maintained, clean shaven, eyes so blue it makes the ocean jealous, and a smile that should come with a warning sign to prevent people from being blinded by it.
Background & Backstory: (Entertainer) He grew up in Osaa, Taldor where he lived in a very nice upper middle class section of the city. He was an only child to half-elven parents, and thus spoiled. When he became of age to get out and do things for himself, he became a stage actor with special emphasis in action/thriller plays, and enjoyed early success. Unfortunately, his fledging starpower fizzled out soon thereafter. Desperate to reignite his early success, he has set out to adventure, claiming that he must first get the true measure and feeling heroes go through when faced with moments of heroism and harrow alike, before portraying those on the stage in future plays and performances, so he may become the greatest actor of his generation. If he can locate the source of this foul winter menace he will sniff it out and save the whole damn world. Who better to play themselves in a play based on the true story?
2nd Character
Name: Valora Moonwhisper
Age: 28
Race: Half Elf
Gender: Female
Class: Cleric of Life - worshipper of Pelor
Physical Description: Not ugly. Not sexy. Somewhere in between. She's 5'8", busty, and has long silver-white hair that betrays her youthful age. Her eyes are large and green. Various scars can be seen on her body, that have been self inflicted. She has full cheeks, dotted rosy red, and a endearing little smile.
Background and Backstory: (Acolyte) She grew up in a gritty, blue collar section of Taldor. Her father was a Pikeman in the military, and her mother was a caretaker (medic/nurse etc) in the city. Her older brother set off to be a sailor and traverses the 4 wild seas as we speak. Her family were devout worshipers of Pelor and thus she became one as well. When she became of age, she set off to be a medic (or equivalent) in the military, thinking she could combine the career fields of her parents into one and later put them in a better place logistically and financially.
Yeah, that didn't happen. Over time while serving in the military, and spending much time in the field hospitals, city hospitals, and rear guard healing tents, she developed an addiction. She NEEDED to heal. She HAD to heal. The feeling of Pelor's warmth and joy and power became such a constant fixture in that environment, that when there was nobody around to heal, she'd have a mad outbreak. To quell this insatiable feeling, she'd cut herself and heal herself. That worked for awhile, but eventually it stopped working. She needed something bigger. More wounds. Bigger gashes to heal with Pelor's precious power. This made her set her eyes soon to adventuring, which was most recent.
In the absence of conventional wars where wounds were aplenty to get her fix, she would settle for linking up with adventuring parties. She went out with one party but they decided she wasn't a good fit because, although she proved very good at healing them, she actually healed a few of the bad guys as well just to fill her addiction. (I would not have her do that in game to my party unless it was after combat and there was no more danger but still living/wounded bad guys or something.) with the promise of many needing healing upon the winter curse, she has offered her services .
Have invites gone out yet? I’m not pressing. Take all time needed. I understand it can be hard to sort through and choose the right characters. I am just being curious.

Character Name: Fenrick Whizzelfizz
Race: Forest Gnome
Class: Warlock (fey pact)
Ability Scores: Strength 8, Dexterity 16, Constitution 13, Intelligence 14, Wisdom 10, Charisma 14
Alignment: Chaotic Good
Character Description: Fennrick
Background: Connected to the Fey (Uthgard Tribe Member)
Feature: One with the Land (Uthgardt Heritage)
You have an excellent knowledge of not only your tribe’s territory, but also the terrain and natural resources of the rest of the North.
AGE: , GENDER: Male, HEIGHT: , WEIGHT: lb, SIZE: Small, SKIN COLOR: Light, EYE COLOR: Blue, HAIR COLOR: Blue with Orange Tips

PbP Character: A few ;)
