Class: Barbarian (multiclassing into Paladin at higher levels)
Background: Pirate
Backstory:
Hildr was an Illuskan shieldmaiden and raider before she tired of her subservient role among simpleminded men and obtained permission from her captain to set sail south to make a name – and fortune – for herself.
Given her broadly exceptional abilities, her mother had encouraged her from an early age to emigrate to one of the wealthy cities of the Sword Coast and pursue a settled, nobler life. But Hildr was influenced by her imperious, belligerent father, and she liked to fight.
Fervently religious, she has dedicated her life (and death) to Tempus the Foehammer, Lord of Battles, who Hildr believes reflects the state of nature as it was intended to be: a contest of wills for survival and dominance. “May Tempus favor me,” she has tattooed in Illuskan runes across her back. If she perishes on the field of battle, it is because she is unworthy.
For recreation, Hildr exercises or performs public displays of martial prowess, although one might catch her reading a manuscript in the privacy of her tent, especially if it concerns military history or strategy. She is inclined to prove herself at every opportunity, never refusing a challenge, even when it might not be prudent.
Why join the Silver Veils? For money and valor. Why else? She will stay and honorably serve the company, but only for as long as it suits her. I should be leading my own company, and I will someday.
Arokas Nightshade descends from a powerful sorcerer family, the Nightshades. Arokas’ father, the elf Silas Nighshade, was one of the most well known and powerful members of the family. Because of his pride, Silas wanted his son to become a sorcerer as well, no matter what it took. He hurt Aro, punishing him and traumatizing him for years in order to try and bring out the magic.
Eventually, this succeeded. When getting beaten by his father one night, Arokas exploded with magical force. This force blew his father back against a wall with such force it killed him. Horrified, Arokas’ family covered the incident up as a dreadful accident. Arokas felt horrible and couldn’t stand to face his family, who blamed him for killing one of the most powerful members of the family.
Since the incident, Arokas ran away from home, fleeing the memories and horror he faced there. He has mostly pushed back people, worried that he would hurt them, or worse, become like his father. Arokas lived sparsely and nomadic, doing odd jobs and traveling to different places so he could to make a meager living. He used illusion magic to disguise his hair and the patches of scales on his face and fingers, the trademark sign of a Nightshade. Eventually, he got to Greenest, and decided to live there for a while.
While living in Greenest, one of the older members of the Silver Veils approached him (DM can decide if it’s one of the other players or an NPC), wanting to hear his story. Arokas pushed him back, but the older member kept asking and Arokas finally gave in. After telling his story, the older member encouraged him to join the Silver Veils in order to channel his magic into a place where he could do good.
However, Arokas still isn’t normal. He doesn’t like to hang out with the other members of the Silver Veils, especially if they ask questions about his past. His mood is usually gloomy and pessimistic, though Arokas has found that reading poetry has helped himself out. But Arokas has one secret that he never told anyone: the ghost of his father haunts him, tormenting him and making Arokas relive the guilt of killing his father.

HOLY- I offered my firstborn child to the dice gods for these kinds of stats — • — CHARACTER NAME: Cassius Saros RACE: Changeling CLASS: Rogue (Swashbuckler/Multiclass) BACKGROUND: Noble — • — BACKSTORY:
Cassius wasn’t born into nobility. He clawed his way up the ladder with favors, smiles, and endless promises.
Infiltrating a lower noble house in Baldur’s Gate by the name of House Jericho, Cassius was taken in as a simple mercenary. Tasked with dealing with minor enemies of the house, Cassius quickly moved his way up through the ranks, using his skill with a sword to become one of the house leader's, Simon Jericho's, closest advisors. Cassius's charming demeanor left the noble completely off guard- it was almost too easy to slip into his bedchambers and assassinate him.
Now the defacto leader of House Jericho, now House Saros, Cassius enjoyed relaxing in his newfound seat of power. But his troubles didn't end there. A letter arrived st his doorstep, marked with the seal of the tyrannical Cult of the Dragon. It offered him a deal (though the word deal may be a bit of a stretch) stating that he was be expected to ally with the Cult in return for hoards of riches and protection from its members. It was also filled with threats- refuse to comply and your secrets will be revealed, your home razed to the ground. Cassius may not be the most moral individual, but he refused to ally with the Cult. The murderous group of dragon worshippers really was not his cup of tea.
Cassius tried his best to strengthen his house defenses, to hire more guards, anything he could to defend himself and his home. It wasn't enough. The Cult arrived and set fire to the manor, forcing Cassius to flee. Luckily, a traveling band of mercenaries was in town- The Silver Vein. Changing his appearance yet again, Cassius assumed a new identity and set off with newfound resolve. He was going to take back his home and make the Cult pay, if it's the last thing he'll ever do.

Backstory: Beshlog was born in the frozen North, a member of a primitive tribe of Goliaths who distrusted both magic and technology. But Beshlog was not content with the life of a simple herdsman. He spent a great deal of time in the sacred caves of the Ancestors, studying the runes of the giants and slowly piecing together the knowledge of spellcraft from the bits and pieces lore he could gather. He wasn't especially good at magic, but he didn't really care; he just wanted to satisfy his curiosity about this mysterious other world.
For the most part, the other members of his tribe tolerated Beshlog's oddities. After all, he was a good, strong neighbor and his search for knowledge so far had been confined to looking to the Ancestors for knowledge. But then something changed... one day, as Beshlog and several other members of his tribe were ice fishing, a terrible accident happened. Under the combined weight of multiple goliaths, the ice shattered, and on the bitter cold mountain the cracked ice was frozen over again before the half-dozen tribesmen and women could return to the surface. All of them perished... or at least, they should have. As he struggled in the icy water, his lungs burning from the lack of air as he fruitlessly tried to break through to the surface, a strange voice called to him softly, offering him a chance to live in exchange for a favor in the future. With time rapidly running out, Beshlog had no choice... he took the mysterious being's deal.
Several hours later, Beshlog emerged from the depths. But it was clear something had changed... he had been marked forever by the touch of that mysterious being. The tolerance that the other members of his tribe had up until that point shown was gone. With most of his friends and family dead in the accident, and the rest of the tribe turned against him, Beshlog left the mountains behind, knowing that his destiny lay elsewhere. During his wandering, he met an old man who was once a veteran member of the Silver Veil and who took an interest in the young goliath's strength, his keen mind, and his strange abilities. With nothing left to lose and nowhere to go, Beshlog decided to do as the old man suggested and join the Silver Veil.

Used to be he could get by on a barrel o' whiskey and a few loves of bread, but the carts started needing maintenance, the roads started getting dangerous, and he couldn't get by on scraps alone. He and his wife Gil tried to raise a farm for a bit, but they could only afford a small hovel with unworkable land. Gil still grows a small garden, but now has to think about how to raise a child on the way while Nip goes off to make ends meet with the Silver Veil

Badly. They had been set up at an aging noble's court and enthralled the populace as well as the nobility with their puppet show. Especially, the old man was so fond of Xilhan's talent that they were sure it was a done deal, even though his scornful scion hold them in contempt. The old duke had already called upon them several times to play in his private chambers for him alone and they were able to scout the rooms undisturbed after he fall asleep. It was only a matter of time for an opportunity to present itself to bring the plan into motion to clear out the place and disappear. Only before they could, the old bastard's body gave in and he passed away. Xilhan didn't hesitate to flee the moment she learned of the passing and not a moment too early as the duke's son's henchmen came after them in hot pursuit. They managed to evade the pursuers by joining a mercenary band, the Silver Veil. With the Silver Veil, they do what they know best, entertain the group to their heart's content at least until waters are safe to move on or some opportunity presents itself.
