Ethan was orphaned when both his parents came down with an illness when he was 9; first his father went, then in a couple of months his mother followed, and with no other family to speak of, he was forced from his rented residence in the city and wound up on the streets.
Being a large child for his age and rather gregarious, he soon found kinship with some of the other street urchins, particularly helping protect and negotiate on behalf of some of the younger street kids. It was at age 14 he was at a fork in the road of his life, and an attempted burglary to steal food for others led him to the abode of a paladin who took pity on him and made him his "squire," of sorts, for the next four years that he was in town.
It was that man who began training Ethan, and teaching him that despite the harshness of the streets, redemption was both possible and necessary, for himself and for all others. Once Ethan's training was finished, and as the paladin prepared to leave to complete his mission, the youth was gifted his armor, weapons and shield, and was confirmed as a paladin himself.
Ethan, now going by his sacred name of Enoch, has spent the last three years practicing his skills and magics, and spreading the word of redemption, all while trying to help out those less fortunate than himself.
Bjorn really doesn't remember much of his childhood, except living in a village on a warm beach, before the raiders came. He spent months in a slaver's caravan before he and the other slaves were able to escape during an inter-tribal war among the enslaving savages. He eventually was taken in a priest of Oghma, who allowed him to spend his days among the libraries of the temple. Bjorn decided to join the Seekers, so he could search out new knowledge and share his skills with the world.

One day, when she was at his absolute lowest, her eldest sister began taunting her mercilessly. At that moment Katarina finally snapped, and in her rage she lashed out at her sister, unleashed a torrent of wild magic. When she came back to her senses, Katarina realized what she had done... her sister was alive, but badly injured and terrified out of her mind. That very night, Katarina left the comfort of her parents' home, forsaking the trappings of royalty and setting out into the world as a common adventurer in the hopes of learning to hone and control the power locked away within her... and maybe, just maybe, prove to her family that she is not a failure or a joke to be trifled with.

In a culture of warriors, Ilrac has always been lacking in strength. Most of his family looked down on the weakest of his brood. No matter how he tried, henever seemed to make any gains.
But, what has always been his best feature was his mind. If he wasn't able make his muscles, he would make muscles of his own.
He had convinced the local blacksmith to make him an apprentice, impressing him with more detailed or delicate work. While working at the forge, he started his project. A mix of metal and magic that would put him on par with the rest of the warriors.
However, his project was discovered by accident one night as he was putting on his finishing touches. Stripped of his honor and exiled for perceived misdeeds, he goes out to prove regain his honor and prove himself a worthy warrior.
Origin: Fin was a spirited youth, eager to set out into the world, conquer monsters, and save villagers from marauding bandits. On his first foray into the adventuring life, he set out under rumors of cultists. Things were grim, but the young man boldly delved into the hideout. A month later, Fin found himself thrown out of a bar for causing a drunken scene that worried other patrons he may turn violent. Since his endeavor to oust a group of cultists, he knew sleepless nights, whispering voices, and darkened shadows. Nothing seemed to help, though. Fin chased stories and rumors of healers, seers, mystics, and even a few known frauds. No one could find anything wrong with the man, however. No signs of possession, curses, or afflictions could be found as the man threw every coin he had into making the hallucinations leave. More months went by, and Fin found himself listening to the voices now, staring longer into the shadows that crept on the corners of his view.
Three years passed since Fin left the comforts of civilization, taking up an isolated cabin far in the wilderness. Though alone, he was never lonely. He found the voices spoke and listened as much as he did. He found the lingering shadows would remain if he wished. He would periodically make trips into a town a few miles away to buy longer-term provisions. This time, however, he found the voices that followed him spoke while he was in the market. It guided him down an alley, where it guided him back to a bounty board. It knew it was time for him to return.

Halen Jor | Half-Elf (Mark of the Storm) | Warlock(Hexblade)& Sorcerer(Aberrant Mind) | Chaotic Good
In another life, Halen might have amounted to very little, just another soldier in some noble's army to kill and die by someone else's orders. But this was not another life.
Fate came to him in the form of a far traveler - alien in culture and language, and dying from wounds sustained in a battle upon some distant realm. The traveler gave him something, an emerald shard that formed into a ring as he held it in his hands. Foreign thoughts touched his mind, impressing upon him a pact, an oath to use its power to vanquish evil wherever it may rise. In most things, Halen took an approach that many called reckless, and this proved to be no exception. Words of an oath he'd never heard before fell from his lips, affirming the pact that would give him power.
For the past few years he's honored the oath he spoke that day. No longer does he use his strength to kill for nobles, but in service of a higher ideal of justice.

Essendrum is a classically trained wizard and has served as an apprentice and librarian for decades. He has read most every esoteric book of lore known to the sages. For a time he even assisted a great archmage studying the Codex of the Infinite Planes. In his studies he has particularly researched the arcane formulae of protective and warding magic, considering it the most pure form of magic since it deals primarily with magic itself. Amongst wizards he can be a bit snobby on the subject but does not expect the uninitiated to care about such trivia. Currently he is on a brief sabbatical before taking new employment with a southern enchanter. He has no intention of having anything remotely approaching an adventure and if, if mind you, he were to consider one it would certainly involve troves of knowledge pertaining to magical arcana and the interaction of the inner and outer planes, certainly not avoiding being stepped upon, thank you very much.
Backstory: Lia is a survivor. Her tribe lived in the mountainous forests until a band of horrifying creatures (TBD?) moved in and savagely attacked them all. She was but a little child at the time, but the screams of her kind being ripped apart and killed without mercy never left her. For years now she has fled from one place to another, doing her best to stay hidden in case she should ever come across those creatures again. But while she still keeps one eye open, she has grown lax lately, allowing herself a bit more rest, a gift to herself at a new inn for all her pains...
Flint was born decades ago in a small fishing village called Saltmarsh. A poor fisherman's son, he helped with mending the nets and, when he was older, crewing the boat. As a teen, though, he...ah...developed a penchant for drinking and got into quite a few bar brawls.
Eventually, his family had enough and shipped him off on the first sailing ship that came by. The captain of the Soul of Winter, Wolgar Windrune, took him on and taught him the ways of the water. A quick if intuitive study, Flint rose quickly to the range of able seaman, then, after a few pirate battles, to marine!
With his fearless and aggressive battle style borne of his tavern brawler upbringing, Flint was often the first into any conflict, though he became fairly stoic outside of battle. After a particularly fierce battle, Captain Windrune presented him with a fabulous suit of Spiked Armor matched with a Spiked Shield. The armor bore a nautical motif, with the spikes designed as oversized deep sea fishhooks and stylized anchors.
Parting ways some years later, Flint--now going by Spike--plied the trade routes by land and sea as a caravan guard, mariner, and sometimes gladiator. Currently between jobs, Spike is sleeping off last night's drinking when he is rudely awakened...

Backstory: Born in the Feywild under the blue moon (a bad omen, as it were) to noble elvish parents, Faylen Keabanise was an outcast from the start. For, she was born without a voicebox, unable to utter a single word. Her parents, utterly ashamed of her, cast her off into the Shadowfell plane, never to be seen again. Growing up in the dark horrors of the Shadowfell, she soon came under the watchful eye of the Raven Queen, who gave her the name of Daewen Pell (Sindarin for Hushed Shadow Maiden). Her melancholic visage and aptitude for hiding in shadows were of great use to the Raven Queen, who often sent her on missions to other planes to watch and wait, looking for the tragedies her Queen wished to collect. Being a mute has its advantages among the Shadar-Kai, as she's learned to hear things her fellow missionaries never assumed were worth paying attention to. It's these nuggets of information that the Raven Queen desires the most, and Daewen has reaped the benefits of being an immortal servant for untold centuries.

Alignment:Lawful Neutral
Character Sheet: https://www.dndbeyond.com/characters/105021835/SyJdg5
Backstory:

For years now she has fled from one place to another, doing her best to stay hidden in case she should ever come across those creatures again. But while she still keeps one eye open, she has grown lax lately, allowing herself a bit more rest, a gift to herself at a new inn for all her pains...

CLASS: Barbarian 5 (Battlerager)

BACKGROUND: Marine
BACKSTORY: in Spoiler

Daewen Pell
Race: Elf (Shadar-kai)
Class(es): Rogue (2) Ranger (3)
Alignment: Chaotic Neutral
