"Thank you, Alexander, I needed the pick me up," Liathana smiled at the paladin. She nodded at Eniallis as she bent down to inspect the empty leather map case. "A Klarg, huh... He did shout that," Liathana clucked her tongue as she considered. "It doesn't ring any bells, but to be honest, the only kinda folk I think would have such a name are the goblin kind... Maybe orcs too." Liathana offered. Rockseeker only told her about the job, but his association with someone named Klarg never came up if he had any. "Did it seem to you like it was running in a particular direction? Maybe..."

"Yeah, that name definitely sounds like a Goblin name. Maybe it was the one who ordered this ambush? It didn't seem to me that he was going in any paticular direction, just running in circles and panicking." Eniallis answers Liathana, trying to organize the puzzle pieces in his head.
He sits down and gets comfortable "A rest will do us good. After that we should probably get going, Rockseeker will be waiting for us."
"I agree that we should rest for a short while, but first we need to look around the area. These two dead horses came from somewhere and I don't see the riders."

Liathana: Upon looting one of the goblin corpses, you find 2 silver coins. You have this weird feeling someone or something is approaching, but you decide it is just your senses still being alert after the battle moments ago. (Goblin #2 does not have a Crossbow, but a Scimitar)
You’ve added 2 silver coins and a Scimitar to your inventory.
Alexander/Liathana: Taking a closer look you two are able to identify the horses belonging to Gundren Rockseeker and Sildar Hallwinter. They've been dead about a day, and it's clear that arrows killed the horses... Signs of struggle can be seen on the dirt, nearby the dead animals, you decipher someone was dragged towards the East woods...
Wolf Blade: Thanks to the help of Alexander, you open your eyes once again. Your body aches, but you’re glad to be alive despite the scimitar that knocked you out earlier.
Eniallis: You decide to join your team members inspect the horses. But they just look like normal horses, dead horses. Normal dead horses. Something has got you nervous, but you assume it is just being very upset about not being able to cast your main spells.
"Alright everyone, that should be enough resting. If we don't get going, we'll never get anywhere. We can't continue down the road while the horse corpses are blocking the way. So, do we move them or does anyone have any better suggestions?"
"Eniallis, hold on a moment," Liathana holds up her left hand to halt him in place, as if he were liable to just continue the journey without everyone. "These aren't just your average dead horses. Notice the lack of bodies? On top of that..." She bites her lip, worried about where this dark trail might lead her, "this horse here belonged to Gundren," she pointed at the dead, brown horse, "and that one there," she pointed to the other, "belonged to Sildar... his friend, I think, possibly his bodyguard. It looks like someone was dragged toward the east." Liathana let her words linger in the air as she nervously cast her gaze eastward.
Liathana bent down near goblin 3 and took his wielded hand crossbow, "I think we should investigate, but, only if you all feel prepared for such an excursion. Who knows who or what we might run into?"

"it'd be risky but we could pair up, two scout eastward an two continue towards town? " Wolf Blade suggests to the group while taking the opportunity to pack a quick pipe attempting to settle the lingering headache
"Hmm, you're right Liathana, these horses carried riders which are nowhere to be seen." Eniallis answers, examining the horses further. "But I doubt splitting our group is a good idea. We were only attacked by 4 goblins, yet Wolf was knocked out and I was next to useless most of the fight." he says annoyed. "I vote that we follow the trail. Although that leaves the question what will we do with the cart."
"Wolf, that seems like a great idea to me!" Liathana snaps her fingers. "We could pull the cart and conceal it. Perhaps we could tie the reigns to a tree to prevent the oxen from wandering about."

"Okay, let's hide the cart under that overhang then." Eniallis points at a barely visible overhang about 15 meters off the road. "It should be far enough that no one will notice it without specifically looking for it." Looking off into the forest he starts thinking out aloud: "If those horses belonged to Rockseeker and his friend and there are trails of two bodies, then we can deduct that they kidnapped our patron. Traako." he ends with an ancient elvish not-quite-swearword.
The party decides to keep the oxes and the caravan safe, by hiding them. You still have a job to do, but you also feel it is important to know the whereabouts of the gnome and his friend.
Alexander: You crouch, hoping to find some clues about Rockseeker and Hallwinter. Pasture is missing in some parts, making it look like a road. About a dozen goblins have come and gone along the trail, as well as signs of two human-sized bodies being hauled away from the ambush site...
Might be best to start searching for them right away. Talk with your party members to decide who’ll guide the party, and who’ll cover the back for any other ambush attacks. With goblins, you can never be too safe. And considering Wolf Blade got injured in the previous encounter, you now know not take your foes lightly.
Alexander crouchs down to find clues about the missing pair, Rockseeker and Hallwinter. He finds evidence of missing pasture in some parts, making it look like a well worn and often traveled road. Calling out to the others he says,
"About a dozen goblins have come and gone along the trail over here. There also appears to be signs of two bodies being hauled away along the same trail. We need to decide who will guide us along the trail and guard the rear of the group against possible ambush. Time is of the essence so we need to decide quickly."

"A dozen??? We almost got bested by only four!" Eniallis shaked his head in dismay "Sorry, but I'm not going first. I guess I could guard the rear, but I'd prefer if someone else takes that spot."
"I am a pretty good shot, but I can jump into the fray in a pinch," Liathana vocalises as the gang starts talking marching orders. She thumbs her nose with a grin, as if she is being bashful about her skill, but her big smile shows only confidence. "If I can, I'd like to stay in the middle of our little group. Alexander, why don't you take the lead? You are a nice wall of man. What do you think Wolf? Where would you like to stand in a fight? Eniallis, you've proven to twist a good spell. You seem upset your first spell didn't land, but it certainly ended that fight in a jiff!" She pats him on the shoulder appreciatively.
