Boona looked back and forth between Fergus and Bryony, she was almost ready to go fetch a goblin for Bryony but waited to see what Fergus was doing.....
Upon Fergus' attempt to insult the door lock, you can see the engraving’s glowing green energy become steadily brighter. It still remains locked, however.
"The goblins and their ilk are new here,"comes the telepathic group reply to Quinn's questions."We awoke long ago. They are trespassers. They brought captives, yes, and left with captives. The living all look alike to us, but three fewer left than entered."
This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
Fergus:
”No, really, you think you’re a-door-able, but your personality is actually quite wooden—which you would be if you were a proper door,” insults the portal again, feeding it more psychic energy.

Watching the green light grow brighter at Fergus' insults Jorzu offers words of encouragement to his friend, "Well done Fergus! Use your most vile words, it seems to react to being insulted."
Focusing his mockery on the door once more, Fergus sings with fervent gusto:
”You know the day destroys the night Night divides the day Tried to run, tried to hide Break on through to the other side Break on through to the other side Break on through to the other side, yeah!”
Bryony looks at Fergus like he's lost his mind. Insulting the door couldn't possibly work! Except the door began to glow brighter the more Fergus insulted and sang at it. Bryony couldn't help herself. She started giggling, which soon turned into full-on guffaws at the ridiculous situation.
"This is ridiculous!" she declares. "But it's so ridiculous that it's actually working."

The seal breaks. The glowing obsidian doors grind open. Inside is a small, empty, black chamber, its floor mostly taken up by a wide, circular shaft leading downward. As you watch, a 15-foot-diameter circular stone platform smoothly ascends out of the darkness to becomes level with the floor here, neatly sealing the shaft and creating a proper floor.
Quinn is not quite sure how much to offer up as payment. He considers lowballing them, but he doesn’t wans to offend them and cause a stir. He plays it save and grabs 100 gp worth and offers it up to the Ashenwight.
”Payment for your assistance.” Quinn bows his head out of respect and hands it the coin.
”May I ask one more question? Is there anything we can do for you? Do you wish to be set free, or are you content here?”
Fergus strides through the sundered door and onto the stone circle in the center of the pyramid.
The ashenwight takes the coin from Quinn; the gold quickly vanishes beneath the dead dwarf's (or as some of you begin to realize, the dead duergar's) ancient rags.
"We... we wish to piece together our previous life. We... we strive to enlighten our brethren to our psionic awakening. There is no 'free'."
After a moment, the stone circle begins to smoothly and slowly descend. Those who wish to descend with it may join Fergus on the sinking platform.
The platform continues to sink. (Unless you have prior business, we'll assume the whole party has now stepped onto the descending stone circular platform.)
After 30 seconds or so, it descends perhaps thirty feet before coming to a gentle stop at the bottom. Doors lift open to reveal a massive sanctum built of obsidian stone. Two waterfalls of lava cascade down either side of the sanctum’s entrance, casting eerie light on the vaulted ceiling. At the opposite end of the sanctum looms a towering statue of a dwarven woman. Cracks race along her arms, and half her face is smashed, but the faint image of a kindly smile remains.
A tall, green, goblinoid figure stands on the mezzanine behind the statue. It currently has its back turned toward you, and carries a green scimitar.
"Welcome, guests," it announces, in a high, tonal voice.
Jorzu marvels at the workmanship of the elevator as they descend. "Such precision to allow the platform free movement up and down but form a perfect fit at the..." His ramble interrupted by the opening of the doors. He peers from behind Boona, with great difficulty, into the lower chamber. "Ooh" he says through pursed lips. ((If the eerie light is classed as dim)) His sense of self preservation kicks in as he quickly and quietly begins the spell that allows him to disappear.
Quinn steps out and down the stairs without answering. He quickly looks south to survey the area around the lift. He then returns is focus to the goblinoid.
”Greetings…” Quinn says aloud.
To test the creature, Quinn attempts says to himself. “You must be Ruxithid.”

Quinn looks around. There is nothing but sheets of falling lava surrounding the base of the lift, which is five feet above the floor. A short set of stone stairs descends before you.
"Indeed I am!" He turns and looks at you. "I have been aware of your presence for some time."
This goblinoid figure is taller and broader than the other goblins you’ve encountered, and a gnarled crystal has split his skull open to reveal his brain. As he turns, his eyes and veins glow an otherworldly green.
He speaks in an unnaturally calm, sing-song voice. "I am Ruxithid the Chosen...." He pauses as his eyes roll back into his head for a moment while he mouths words to himself silently. Then he speaks again: "I am the divine harbinger. You have been chosen to aid me in a mighty quest, ordained by the divinity."

Do you recall seeing any recent captives taken by the crystal-brained goblin? Did you see a young boy or an elderly woman?”
