Absorbing all the information he can, Rammand speaks out, “Viga, is it possible this new group could have brought the creatures? Shadows come from the absence of light. And if I’m looking to bring the Dawnfather in a… militant manor, there are likely no better creatures to strike fear into a community and as followers of the Dawnfather, they are likely particularly suited to defeat these creatures.”
Barely pausing to take a breath, he adds, ”Do either of you think any of these people can be spoken sense to? If we can stop the creatures, it’s unlikely that they will pack up and leave or relax their current stance. In fact, it’s likely they will dig their heels in deeper and become more authoritarian. They might even get some traction with the locals if they are in fear of other attacks.”
OOC Apologies this didn't get a response.
"These people are not like any followers of the Dawn Father I have ever met," Viga begins. "The creatures came with the felling of the gaurdian," she adds. "They have yet to defeat a single beast but there was been no casualties amongst the villagers we can account for only disappearances, " she adds. "Hauntings have happened to the Heralds and the only death I am aware of is amongst their ranks," she finishes.
"They aren't going to leave here, " Dulana begins, "unless they are made to leave," she adds her voice sorrowful. "They built the temple, the felled the yew tree, and they've taken over the day to day administration of the village's business," she adds shrugging. "I...I don't think Viga or myself have anymore insight to offer," she finishes.

As they leave the bakery, Seph looks at the livery to see if the paladins are still there.
(OOC: are the paladins still outside the livery? )
"Is anybody watching? Are the paladins still at the livery?", she asks Salamir in a whisper. "If so, let's circle past the livery and ask them to tell Ed to meet us later, to throw them off the baker, and start down the path to the Gunnulf farm & circle back to the Smith." (OOC: Still whispering)
"A good ruse. The quicker we are back at the smithy the better though. It is obviously not safe for any of us to wander around alone, and I worry the others will decide to look for us as we did Ed", Salamir replies to Persephone.
That said, he follows Persephone's plan, which relies first on determining if they are watched leaving the bakers.
"Thank you for your help. I have a blessing lhat heals wounds, but it may not help an illness, if you want me to use it on your daughter. Otherwise good wishes."

OOC sorry y'all I've had several posts not showing up.
"This is not something that can be healed by you or anyone, " Summer Wind explains. "I appreciate your offer," she adds.

"You've shed a bright light on the situation already. We were quite in the dark when we arrived, so we thank you for sharing so openly with us," Constance says with a genuine--if tired---smile for the two women. "Speaking of Dark... I don't suppose it should take this long to make a trip to the livery and back?" she asks as she works to prestidigitate the cups clean, glancing out whatever window is nearby.
Salamir notices a group of paladins coming towards the bakery as you exit. They don't look like their coming for you or Persephone but they'll be unavoidable in the street regardless if you both go back to the livery or towards the road out of town to the Gunnulf homestead.
Back at the forge....
"We'll take whatever allies we can get. The Gunnulf twins are not the first to be sent. They are however the first to successful convince others to return here," Dulana explains.
When Constance asks about the livery Viga interrupts.
"No," Viga frowns. "They could have run into trouble. The Heralds like to know who's moving about, " she explains next. "If you'd like I can take a look. You're tired " she says standing from her sear. "Rammand feel like stretching your legs? Constance I'd appreciate your help watching over Dulana, " she adds next moving towards the front door.
"No, no, please," Constance hurriedly interjects, shrugging out of the blanket and laying it over the back of a chair. "It would not do for you to be seen helping us, surely. And I would not want to bring down further trouble upon your heads. And we--well... if something should happen, I should be there. I can't, um... I-I can't--" Constance is startled by the sudden emotion in her voice, brow furrowed at her inability to control its wavering. You're just tired, she reasons, then takes a deep breath and tries again, "I can't let them down again." She smiles, the curve of it chased by sadness, but gives Viga and Dulana a resolute nod.
"Paladins coming this way", Salamir replies to Persephone. "I think they might be on patrol, but we will run into them if we head to the livery or the road to the Gunnulf farm".
He looks around to check if the way to the Smithy is clear.
"Let's not risk bumping into them, they might have been the ones to take Ed, and they might be more insistent with us too".
(OOC;: How many pallys in the group heading toward us?)
"Anything but acting natural will make them suspicious be ready to run or fight and just act normal and stick with the plan to talk to the gnome", Seph whispers.
"Yes, of course," Dulana begins moving towards Constance. "Please take care, the both of you," she adds walking over to Viga to halt the smith's progress donning a bit of concealed armor and throwing daggers in her boots.
"If you're sure," Viga says looking at an exhausted Constance.
OOC as a reminder Constance is on the 2nd level of exhaustion are you trying to be stealthy or quick?
Outside exiting the bakery that Summer Wind quickly closes up, Salamir and Persephone are clocked by the patrol.
"High Warden Reeves seeks an audience with you and your companions," a dwarven man says with a curt tone.
Theres three paladins that Salamir and Persephone can see on this patrol. The dwarven man who speaks is oddly not bearded. He has a ruddy clean shaven face with braided face that's an ash blone. He is pretty attractive, something off hsnded you all notice about the Heralds of the Dawn, amd wears as a large warhammer strapped on his back. All three wear the same emblazoned Dawn Father armor that glints in the waning afternoon light and impeccable kept white robes beneath. There's a bowman and a pole arm fighter amongst them, their weapons clearly visible but not drawn.

As the patrol approaches, Salamir takes a step forward to ensure he is between them and Persephone. Hearing their request he smiles cordially, but it does not reach his eyes.
”Of course we accept the High Warden’s request. As soon as we are reunited, rested and presentable as befits the High Warden. Where should we send word when we are ready?”, he says pleasantly, locking eyes with the beardless dwarf unflinching.
Making sure Alphinius is properly secured at her hip, Constance then summons the barest breeze of a second wind. "Let's find our lost flock, shall we?" she says to Rammand.
OOC Salamir is considered hostile/an enemy. You would roll persuasion with disadvantage.
"We can escort you now without trouble and collect the rest of your companions later..." he pausing to let it sink in. "Or," he continues, "you take us to wherever your companions are and we take all of you in together, " he explains. "We do not want to use force but the request is just a formality. High Warden Reeves requires you and your companions now," the dwarven man finishes.
His tone is firm but his face is placid. The faces of his companions seem to be the same oddly blank expression as they exchange glances at each other before they return their gaze to Salamir and Persephone.

Salamir maintains the dwarf’s gaze, “As I mentioned, we do accept of course. However we are still covered in road dust and haven’t washed or slept in some time. It would be a slight to the High Warden to show up like this. I am sure you see they wouldn’t want that”, he replies calmly.

“Constance, you’ve had a long day. Get some rest, gather information if you want. Viga and I can gather our friends and meet you back here. I imagine we all could use some sleep.” Rammand’s demeanor softens from his usual lightheartedness and frantic, paced ramblings. He clasps her hand and gives it a squeeze. “It’s going to be alright. Take a break.”
There's an indignant flash of defensiveness across Constance's face and she opens her mouth to argue that she's not tired, she doesn't need sleep, and doesn't want to take a break, but it's all immediately placated by Rammand's expression and squeeze of her hand. The touch, even with her hand gloved, makes her flinch, though she quickly relaxes. In truth, her defensive reaction was not aimed at Viga nor Rammand, but at herself and the truth of it all.
You're the weak link. You'll slow them down. Make mistakes. All of which could put them in greater danger.

She turns her head to the side, hiding the obvious emotion on her face behind a curtain of dark hair, but she squeezes Rammand's hand back. "Alright," she says through a weary exhale. "Take these with you though, please." She fishes around in her bag then offers Rammand a flask he would know to be full of alchemist's fire and a small vial of acid extracted and distilled from a gelatinous cube, "In case of emergency."
