Salamir wanders outside the Hanged Man having grabbed his belongings from his room, and makes his way over to a dark, bordering on black, chestnut mare. He reaches into one of the saddlebags and withdraws a carrot, which he he feeds to it as he pats it's neck.
"You ready Pall?", he whispers to the horse and then makes sure everything that needs to be stowed away is placed in the saddlebags.
He mounts up, sweeping his overcoat out as he does so showing off the scimitar and crossbow pistol that hang from his waist. He is now wearing studded leather armour under his overcoat.
"We good to head out?".
When they move out he will take up a position at the rear.
Following Salamir’s lead, Rammand packs his things for the journey. He takes a half a dozen trips out of his room, only to turn around and grab an item that he nearly forgot. Loading his pack on the Palamino, he waits a second for Kit’s usual joke about his height, but it doesn’t come. Rammand sighs and climbs up onto the horse.
”Come on, D.E.R.B.I.E.” A metal figure makes its way out of the stable. The figure is a clockwork dwarf, complete with beard. “You’re riding on the wagon, buddy.” AsD.E.R.B.I.E. climbs aboard the wagon, Rammand tries to reassure the children. “This is D.E.R.B.I.E. He is my friend and he’s going to help us find your father.”
Wyn mounts the bench on the wagon by scaling the wheel. The twins settle into the makeshift bedding as Rammand helps his metal friend inside the wagon.
OOC Hey @BarbosaThaGod is DERBIE the Steel Defender?
"Oh," Baltus exclaims as the metal dwarf climbs in!
"Fascinating," Brida says making sure however Baltus gets a blanket and a good spot to rest before settling into her own. "Did you build him," she asks Rammand.
Along with the horses Ed mounts a red roan horse with grace and settles the animal with a soft tone of voice. Ed then takes point riding ahead.
"We're ready," Ed replies aloud looking at Wyn who nods to their partner gesturing subtlety at the lamps mounted on the wagon setting both a light with arcane fire!
OOC again I'd need 1d20 + survival for the travel roll for the first half of the journey! Can be anyone but you might want to discuss it!

Sometimes a Nat 1 tells a better story than a Nat 20 ever could.
Persephone gets her gear, and gets an apple & sugar cubes (if any) from the table before leaving to mount the horses. She picks a black mare with white "socks" from hooves to knees. 'Seph fills her saddle bags and feeds her the apple & sugar cubes and scratches the mare's head be;fore mounting. "Socks and I are ready."
Constance spreads the map out over Doc's neck and squints at it. She turns it 45 degrees, squints, then turns it another 45 degrees, repeating the process until it's back where she started. "Ready! I'll let you two know when we need to make a righ--er..." another 45 degrees, "...a left? A left, yes, definitely a left!"
Alphinius rustles against her side, tone dripping with judgment. "Oh, this should be good."
"The spell Persephone, " Ed asks the cleric. "Which of us will have the horses with your gifts of sight," the tabaxi asks curiously their own eyes reflecting in the dark.
"See you in the village," Wyn calls over their shoulder as the gnome urges the two horses forward and the wagon creaks as it begins to trundle down the road towards Carrowkeel! The arcane lanterns swinging gently casing a large semi circle of light ahead of the pair of white mares pulling the gnome and Gunnulf twins ahead of the party.

(post #30 on the previous page)..."Oh, I can grant darkvision to 2 others within 10 feet of me, for up to 7 hours, though more than an hour uses spell slots. I was thinking of my horse and the horse next to me so two horses are taken care of. Sorry for forgetting it earlier.."
"The Eyes of Night are a gift of the Goddess that I can share with two beings within 10 feet of me. Since you've ridden at night before, Ed, do you think it would be easier to use it on the horses, or riders, who don't have darkvision? I'll have to spend spell slots to keep it going for 7 hours."
Constance looks up from the map to watch them go, worry settling in the pit of her stomach. Or perhaps that's just the nausea.
She turns to Rammand and Salamir, while Ed and Persephone discuss her spell, to ask, "Shall I send Archimedes with them? Perhaps to watch their journey from the skies? I should hate to think something might happen to them on the roads and we'd have no way of knowing."
"Sounds like a good idea", Salamir replies to Constance. "Now, what are we waiting for? I thought we chose to go on horseback because it is faster, and now the wagon is ahead of us", he says mock seriously.
"If you give my horse the ability to see in the dark, I can free up my hands to play us a travelling tune", he adds with a broad smile, patting the lute on his back.
(OOC: Persephone will follow Ed's advice on which horses get the darkvision, or if darkvision riders negate the disadvantage to the horses and it isn't needed, and we head out)
Rammand perks up at the interest in D.E.R.B.I.E. “Build him, I did. Maybe later, I can show you some tricks that he knows.”
He returns to the group, presenting a small brass ring. Rammand hands it to Persephone. “Wear this on your pointer finger. The ridge inside pushes a pressure point that should help you ignore pain and keep focused on your magic.”
Mind Sharpener - While wearing this infused item, whenever the creature fails a CON saving throw to maintain concentration on a spell, it can use its reaction to succeed instead, expending one charge. 4 charges, regain 1d4 charges at dawn.
Taking her wizardly quill out from behind her ear, Constance sketches an inky, arcane outline of a great horned owl in the air then blows a puff of air over it. Sent into flight, the inky sketch rises into the night sky before bursting into being from its pocket dimension in a flurry of feathers. With an irritated squawk, the fey familiar swoops low over Salamir's head (he'll have to do since Kit isn't there to pester instead) then flies after the cart.
"As long as it's not that dreadful ballad again--what was it called?" she asks the rogue over her shoulder with a small, teasing smirk. "Wonderfence? Wall?" The smirk vanishes as Doc lurches forward and she's scrambling to keep her balance and put the map away.
Salamir swats playfully at the fey owl as it swoops over his head, "Hey, no flybys".
"Careful there Constance, can't have you taking a tumble", he teases Constance right back as she gets jostled ahead of him. He spurs Pall on to keep pace just behind Doc and starts to softly sing, just loud enough for Constance to hear, "And all the roads we have to ride are winding. And all the lights that lead us there are blinding...".
"Positively incorrigible," Constance gripes with no heat. She ducks her chin to keep the curving of her lips to herself. She can almost hear Kit, loudly joining in after making a cheeky remark about Rammand "putting a ring on it."
Taken by a wistful sort of daydreaming, Constance's dark eyes drift skyward to gaze at the stars above them. Unbidden and, despite her best efforts of resistance, she hums softly along. "...like to say to you..." Her head lolls side to side with Doc's movements and the swash of liquor in her stomach. "...but I don't know how..."
Persephone casts the spell on whoever Ed thinks best. And takes the lead with Ed.
Animal handling 15 (rolled on cha. Sheet)
Ed defers to Persephone not knowing the group well enough to make that decision.
OOC My NPC will not make these types of decisions. They're kind of here to gently guide, add a little boost in defense, but not plans for the group.
Beginning their trek the party moves quickly on horseback. Within minutes they overtake Wyn and the wagon proceeding towards Carrowkeel on the main road. It's a cloudy night as they move into the treelined patched earth. Everyone but Salamir and Pall move with haste and efficiency. Meanwhile Salamir is constantly falling behind the group with the animal simply unwilling to keep pace with the other horses. They lag so much so that at one point Salamir's steed stops dead in it's tracks and will not budge! Falling behind the half-elf sees his companions moving ahead.
Salamir make a perception check.
"They've been far too well taken care of by Toby and Marta," Ed says a chuckle in their tone as the tabaxi doubles back to find Salamir at a bit of an impasse.

(Animal Handling for Constance: 13)
Persephone casts the spell on whoever Ed thinks best. And takes the lead with Ed.
Animal handling 15 (rolled on cha. Sheet)

Salamir Animal Handling: Nat 1! (OOC: Pall obviously doesn't like Wonderwall either haha)
