Name: Gimmor Frostbeard Race: Mountain Dwarf Class/Planned Subclass: Rogue/Scout or Arcane Trickster(depending on campaign beats/party composition) Background: Soldier Brief Backstory: There is honor and bravery among many races. But few can match the dwarves in their zeal for upholding both; be it on the field of battle, or in the world of crafts. While not nobles by any stretch of the imagination, clan Frostbeard still held an honored position within the Great Rift hierarchy as a result of producing rangers and scouts that rarely went out-shined by any other. This fate awaited growing Gimmor, and not once did he abhor it. The life might not be as glamorous as some of the more frontline oriented military roles or even that of the honored crafters or merchants, but this did not detract from the sense of purpose that came with the role.
Filled with the promise of this feeling and many more, Gimmor threw himself into training when the time was appropriate. No amount of eagerness could make up for a lack of the fine dexterity of some of his predecessors. Nevertheless, he kept on, and eventually joined an official recon and rescue company within the kingdom's military. A job that proved all the more necessary as the years went by, for though the dwarves controlled much of their underground home, they were not without plenty of enemies to test their defenses. One such engagement nearly cost him his leg and nearly his life. Yet he survived by some miracle. However once some political maneuvering of clan rivals worked its way into discourse over the battle, the patriarch of his clan thought it best to send him away to live with family in Amn and recover outside the stress of the aftermath of the battle. Such was the excuse, and for years he'd languish over his own part in things, before a welcome distraction arrived in his cousins complaints about not receiving word from some friend or business partners further north. Without hesitance, he latched on to the opportunity to help look into things having "recovered enough" and being in need to stretch his legs.
(I'd consider alternatively making this character a wizard or monk with some small tweaks to the story above if possibly better suited for the campaign and so forth)
