"That..." Zeds says using a hand to shade his eyes and looking off into the distance. "That is not a good sight..."
"You said fire, right?" Zeds asks quickly of Serge.
"Everyone is leaving this place, right?" He asks of nobody in particular... Quickly digging through his gear he finds he has two flasks of oil left. He chucks one against the structure to the southwest of his current position so that it shatters... He figures Ixsas or Krackle can ignite the thing later when the Trolls are closer. He himself then books West and a bit South to try to get to that tree there and uses a bonus action to hide. Stealth: 12 :(
A gasp escapes Serge as he sees the foul trolls lumbering toward the civilians, and then he is running toward them. He calls back to the others. "Coordinate your targets and bring them down, one at a time! Ixsas and Krackle, hit them with all the fire you can muster. Don't be afraid to catch me in the wash!" He sincerely hopes he won't regret that last comment.
Action: Dash
Movement: 40'-45' south/southwest, to put himself between the trolls and the people fleeing toward the shrine. He should end up near the corner of the larger black 'U' shaped building.
Reaction: Serge will hold his reaction for whichever spell is needed first... Shield if hit by trolls, or Absorb Elements if hit in the blowback from his allies' fire spells.

Round 1: Ixsas
When he see the trolls, Ixsas turns to Thaldren and says, "Lord Kossuth's light was upon you today when you decided not to fight us. You left us fresh for this fight, and now we may save your people from these trolls. Get your children and elderly across the Winding Water as quick as you can. Set up your archers on the far side and be ready to fire on any trolls who make it close to the river."
Ixsas knows that he had said something to Krackle about leaving Fireball to the kobold since Ixsas had other things that he might do with Kossuth's power, but that was before he saw four trolls racing down the hill toward them! As Serge sprints away, Ixsas says, "And fire we shall have!" Thankfully, the trolls are on a hill and clearly visible even at a distance. He grasps his holy symbol and calls on Kossuth in primordial, his growing faith allowing him to suffuse himself with some of the Fire Lord's power. Ixsas feels the influx like fire racing through his veins. He screams out a spell and points to a spot on the hill roughly in the middle of the four trolls. A brilliant light seems to flash out from him, connecting him to that spot for a moment as he reaches through his god's connection to the elemental plane of fire and pulls flames from that plane into this world in a large explosion of fire.
Ixsas gasps at the effort of the new spell but is pleased with the effect, staring a moment for the afterimage to fade from his vision. If the caravan hasn't moved, he calls to Faelsin to say, "Faelsin, go now! Get the caravan and these people across the river! We'll hold off the trolls." Then Ixsas moves slightly south to get a better view of the coming trolls. He doesn't want to get too close, and he's not sure how best to hold them off while the others ford the river. Will they all surround Serge, or will they split up once they hit the village?
Movement: move 20' to the spot that Zeds was occupying at the start of the round, not far from the puddle of oil. Action: Cast spell (LVL 3 slot) Fireball at a spot within 150 ft range. Each creature in a 20-ft radius sphere from that point must roll a DC 15 DEX save or take 28 (fire) damage (or 14 (fire) damage on a successful save). Free Action: Talking
With the trolls lumbering towards the group, Krackle quickly turns Jr to face the charging threat. Clutching his orb tightly he begins to growl in draconic as smoke begins to drift from his nostrils. Flames erupt around the orb in his hands before streaking outwards towards the four trolls. The ball of flame pulsates with power before slamming into the center of the 4 trolls, dealing 22 fire damage to each of them (half on a successful 15 dex save)
(I rolled the damage on my character sheet because it seemed easier. I have beep posting from my phone while on vacation)
(Zeds actually moved the other way. Broke oil flask on building SW of his original position then moves west and a bit south to try to hide behind tree as shown in spoiler:)
(Assuming that doesn't change what trolls did.... Zeds action goes like:)
Zeds uses his shaking hiding spot and Serge's position to take a pot-shot with his short bow at the Troll Serge is engaged with. Once shot is taken he rolls even more west (left) and tries to hide (with his BA) behind the next tree...
Short Bow vs Troll: (Nat 20 or Nat 1) for 28 to hit and 13piercing damage PLUS 12Sneak Attack damage... (Rolled with adv since I tried to hide last turn... But Nat 20 showed up first so whether the hide worked or not I think I hit. Crit damage rolled since I either crit or I failed.)
The concussive blasts of the twin fireballs bring a hearty cry from Serge, but it doesn't last long. The barbed blade is a crude tool, but the troll doesn't need to be a surgeon... its brute power is enough to nearly end Serge right then and there. The weapon hammers and tears at him again and again, and the arcane warrior isn't even able to get off a defensive spell.
Dazed and bleeding, he staggers, but doesn't fall... not yet at least. Somewhere in his heart he knows fear, but it is fear of dying before he can avenge his brother, not fear of these savages. He takes a gasping breath, draws what strength he still possesses, grunting a wordless prayer to Helm, and then roars as he begins hacking madly at the troll.
One Hand Longsword Attack 1: 17 Slashing Damage: 4
One Hand Longsword Attack 2: 18 Slashing Damage: 4
Seeing the beast still stands, he bellows, "What's that? You want more!?" With the blood loss and possible head injury, he slurs his words as if drunk. And then he begins slashing at the troll once more.
One Hand Longsword Attack 3: 20 Slashing Damage: 8
One Hand Longsword Attack 4: 19 Slashing Damage: 7
Then he throws his head back and cries, desperately to the casters, "HIT THEM AGAIN!"
Bonus Action: Second Wind for 7hp
Action: Attack + Extra Attack
* Action Surge *
2nd Action: Attack + Extra Attack
Movement: If the first troll falls at any point, he stumbles to the nearby troll and spends the rest of the attacks there.
Reaction: Once again, whatever is needed first, Shield if hit by trolls, or Absorb Elements if hit in the blowback from his allies' fire spells. Assumed no shield used last round as nothing could have blocked those troll attacks....

Round 2: Ixsas
(OOC: I'm going to assume that Serge managed to drop troll #1 and that he moved to attach troll #2 from the north to help block it's path to the caravan and villagers. If those aren't both true, I'll delete and repost.)
Ixsas exclaims, "Serge is brave to the point of foolhardiness!", especially when he sees the troll's vicious attack. Ixsas is surprised that Serge is still on his feet after that! He glances at the troll still coming down the hill in the distance and asks Krackle, "I'll help Serge. Can you burn either of the other two?"
Then Ixsas moves south until he can just see the two trolls by Serge. He casts Flaming Sphere again, conjuring the ball of flame to appear on the hill south of troll #1 and then sending it rolling into the next troll that Serge decided to attack.
Movement: Moving 20' south, through the gap between the buildings and just into the green space behind them. I think that that gives him enough view of trolls #1 and #2 to target them with spells. Action: Cast spell (LVL 2 slot) Flaming Sphere, a 5-foot-diameter sphere of fire appears just south of troll #1's body. If a creature ends its turn within 5 ft. of the sphere, it takes 8 (fire) damage. If it passes a DC 15 DEX saving throw, it only takes 4 (fire) damage. Bonus Action: Ixsas immediately sends the Flaming Sphere rolling to the NE into troll #2 from the west to force it to make a DEX 15 saving throw immediate (as above). The sphere stops adjacent to troll #2, in a spot just to the left of the troll. That should also put it 5' away from troll #1, and that troll will take fire damage from the sphere. Free Action: Talking.

Krackle would scurry 30ft southwest so that before pointing two fingers towards both of the southern trolls and sending two firebolts streaking towards the targets as he twins his spell!
firebolt 1 Attack: 27 Damage: 26
firebolt 2 Attack: 15 Damage: 8

Round 1
The party goes first. The trolls are 60 ft away from the village.
((How far away are they? In melee already or...?))
(No the trolls are 60ft away from the village so not in melee yet)
The party can see the trolls as they are on a hill heading down to the village.
Here is a simple battle map. The twin swords in Serge, wizard hat Krackle, Dagger Zeds, Star Ixsas
(( OOC: the map is 5' squares, right? Just checking since the trolls are presumably Large and occupy a 10'x10' area.)
The squares are 5 ft. Yes the trolls take up 10ft.
New battle map to reflect the size of the trolls
