"Have you approached Toren about what is affecting his mind?" Zeds asks, cutting to what he thinks the most obvious approach. "Perhaps they themselves, or those close to them if they seem not of their own mind, should be the ones to decide if you try to break the effect or not?"
(No special prep needed for Zeds.)
Ixsas agrees, "I will ask, certainly. Of course, it's possible that it's all Bay's doing, and Toren doesn't know what's going on. Perhaps some of you could come with me and help find the truth of this matter. If needed, Kossuth's Revealing Light can prevent them from lying, but I've only ever seen it used in an official inquisition. It may be ill-received here, especially if we have to compel them to answer through force." He looks doubtfully toward Faelsin since he has the impression that their employer would want them to avoid anything that looks like harassment of the other caravan members.
Toren tosses and turn on his bedroll as he is still sleeping. Bay hitches all the oxen and horses to a nearby tree.
Ixsas will approach Bay before dinner, hopefully while Toren is still sleeping. He's happy to have any of his companions join him if they want to be part of this conversation. He whispers a brief prayer for guidance and then walks up to Bay. While looking at Toren and his disturbed sleep, Ixsas asks Bay, "I see your brother is still troubled in his sleep, and I begin to fear that he won't make it to Carnath House. I fear that something is attacking his mind and disturbing his rest. Has Toren had these problems before? If so, has he sought any help for it?"
Insight17 to determine whether Bay's response is truthful
Bay looks at Toren then back Ixsas "Ah he is just having a nightmare. It will pass when he wakes up. Though these nightmares have been worse than before. Why would we seek help, nightmares and dreams cannot hurt you beyond giving you a fright"
Ixsas sense a pang of guilt flit across Bay's face and perhaps hopes what he is saying is true that the nightmares are not hurting Toren.

Ixsas replies seriously, perhaps a bit more sternly than he intends: "No, Bay. This is more than bad dreams." He gestures to the campfires, "I have looked in the fires, and Kossuth has revealed to me that an enchantment lies on Toren. If he did not seek it out, then he may not even know about it. This enchantment is probably the cause of his restlessness."
Ixsas stares at Bay, his eyes seeming to glow green with the reflected light of the campfires. He warns, "Worse! Depending on the nature of the enchantment, it could cause him to act out in other ways. Perhaps it's a simple love spell. But it could be much more dangerous, compelling him to act against his nature and do the bidding of whomever or whatever enchanted him. It could put this caravan, you, and even his own life in danger!"
Ixsas lets Bay absorb that warning before offering his help. If Bay asks first, even better. "I can help," he says before quickly correcting himself, "Or...I can try. Depending on the nature and power of this spell, I may fail. But with your permission, I will try to help Toren and free him from this enchantment."
Again, Ixsas tries to ensure that Bay is not hiding something from us about the nature of Toren's enchantment. Insight25 (using the guidance bonus here)
"If you don't know what the magics about him are you are best letting Ixsas here try to get rid of them," Zeds suggests to Bay. "It's not seeking help from nightmares so much as accepting the help that has sought you out. What's the harm?"
"Besides," Zeds adds with as much persuasiveness as he can. "It could have been from that creepy red necromancer. I saw him casting something the other night... I just pray it wasn't a spell on one of us."
Serge's analysis is correct that from what you have seen at the top of the Hill the river near the ruined settlement is the best fordable spot for the caravan.
Ixsas senses he is worried for Toren but also not telling you everything. A lie of omission.
Ixsas gives Bay a long searching look, but he lets it go. Right now, he's focused on the spell.
But later, once the party is together and getting ready for their long rest, he mentions it to them: "I still think that there's something Bay isn't telling us. I don't know whether it's important, but we may need to push him on it more tomorrow."
Ixsas for this Dispel Magic attempt please roll your Spellcasting Ability DC 15
Ixsas definitely wants at least one of his companions to stay nearby in case the attempt to break the spell causes any sort of commotion.
Ixsas sits down and casts Light on his holy symbol so that it seems to glow from inside. Then he prays for Kossuth to use him as an instrument of the god's will. Finally, he sits down on the other side of the nearest campfire from Toren. Looking through the fire at Toren, Ixsas imagines the flames enveloping Toren and burning away the spell that lays upon him. Ixsas casts Dispel Magic, focusing on the enchantment that he detected earlier.
Action: Cast a spell (LVL 3 slot) Dispel Magic on Toren. WIS ability check with a +1 bonus from Guidance: 22.
Serge, more concerned about potential trolls in the darkness than a man's bad dreams, wasn't paying much attention to the Toren situation. Once the man wakes up screaming, however, Serge makes his way over to investigate.

"What's happening? What did you do?!" Krackle shouts as the man begins screaming.
"Nothing," Ixsas says. "I mean, I simply broke the spell that had affected Toren's mind. This is the second time Toren has reacted this way when I have tried to help him."
Ixsas stands up, and if Serge is there yet, Ixsas points at Toren and says, "Restrain him so that he doesn't run off raving into the night." Then he looks to Bay (and Krackle), "Could you get him to be quiet? Or at least get him to stop screaming before he draws all of the trolls to us."
Ixsas looks out into the darkness beyond the fires, listening for the sound of anything that might be drawn to the screaming. He assumes that a "giant" troll must be fairly easy to hear, even over the noise of Toren's screaming.
Ixsas does not see any trolls or dangers nearby. Bay moves over to Toren "Hush now, you are safe as that was just a dream." He holds his brother still until he settles down. Bay's tone was a touch more authoritative than comforting.
Zeds has nothing to add to the magical shenanigans going on so he is keeping watch while it all takes place. He basically paces the area and watches, both the proceedings as well as the general area. When the screaming starts he of course turns to find out what the hell is going on there... But still he has little assistance he is equipped to provide besides shoving a rag in the guys mouth and he's not sure that would be welcomed at this point. That being the case he focuses his attention outside, watching the perimeter to try to see if anything, or anyone, is drawn by the noise...

Krackle nods and moves to Toren, "yes... everything will be alright. Don't you worry. We are going to help you to get some nice restful sleep." The kobold says with a smile as he attempts to calm the man. "here, why don't you just sit down and relax.." He suggests with a smile.

He then will cast [spell]sleep[spell] on the Toren before quicking turning to Bay. "Let him sleep.... he needs his rest." The kobold says as he stands between the brothers... making sure that Toren is not disturbed.
Sleep HP if needed? 22 - and I will use a sorcerer point to extend the spell... not that it will do much. I am hoping that since he is really tired that if no one wakes him up, he will just stay asleep.
Toren immediately falls back asleep, and he seems calmer.
Bay stays kneeling and looks to Krackle "Thank you for what you have done for Toren. Please keep what I am about to say to yourselves." He rolls up his right sleave revealing a Tattoo some of you have seen before. "You see we were not always teamsters. We were born into a demanding family who expected fervent devotion to Tiamat. I knew that I had to leave, and I was not going to leave without my brother. I must have tried a over a dozen times to escape, but to no avail. It was Toren who got both of us out of that family. Through his dreams Toren came into contact with an entity who freed us for a price. Toren refuses to tell me what deal he had struck but I am not sure I can keep on pretending nothing is wrong."

He looks to Zeds and asks quietly, “This Tiamat cult… it must be one and the same with the Dragon Queen Cult we seek?” It is phrased as a statement but the tone sounds like a question.
