Toren immediately falls back asleep, and he seems calmer.
Bay stays kneeling and looks to Krackle "Thank you for what you have done for Toren. Please keep what I am about to say to yourselves."
Ixsas approaches, happy for Krackle's help. He is amazed at what Bay says. He assumed that maybe the brothers had gotten into trouble with the red-robed man, but this is much worse!
"well... it sounds like you don't like the tiamat cult then right? well... we don't either. We are actually working to destroy the tiamat cult. Any help you can provide would be greatly appreciated." The kobold says as he flashes his badge of the fist.
Ixsas sees Krackle flash some secret sign at Bay, but he's more focused on Krackle's words. "True", he says. He speaks to Bay, but his tone is unusually introspective, "none of us can be held responsible for our birth or our ancestors. You show your value and commitment to a cause through deeds and the results of your work in this life." He puts a hand to his holy symbol, still glowing with Light.
Once Bay is finished replying to Krackle's request for help, Ixsas says, "Now that Toren is free from this enchantment, maybe he will share with us who cast the spell and the nature of the pact. But, for now, he needs rest. We can speak with him in the morning. I will pray to the Lord of Light to protect us in the darkness: sleep well and wake." Bay seems to have shared his story now, but Ixsas thinks to himself about using Zone of Truth on Toren.
Ixsas is content to leave it at that for tonight. He hopes that Toren will be in a better state after a full night's sleep.
Bay does not recognize the badge and he looks concerned "You should stay clear of them as anyone who worships Tiamat are fanatics willing to sacrifice anyone including themselves. I don't think caravan guards are up to the task. I mean no offense but that is how I see it."
To Serge "I suppose you can call that a cult as they are crazy enough to be called one. I believe both are the same group though I left that life years ago"
Then he looks to Ixsas and says "Thank you for your kind words and I think we have done alright for ourselves. we may not be rich, but we still have each other"
Zeds finds his attention drawn back to the group instead of watching the perimeter when the chatter and tension rises. He has no desire to awaken the troubled Toren but with Bay awake and talking he figures it may be best to keep him that way...
"Nothing wrong with not being rich," Zeds chimes in. "Most the world isn't, and all the best people in it..." He himself wouldn't mind being rich but he has no delusions about himself being one of the best people anyway.
"What more can you tell us about your families devotion to Tiamat?" Zeds asks, trying to ease the man into expounding more upon the subject. "Were they public about it? Kept it hidden? Practices? Rituals? Meetings? Honestly we don't know exactly what we are looking for so any information you can tell us could prove useful down the line. See, we're not just guards. We're following the trail of a dragon cult that has been doing harm up and down the coast. We're not sure if they are followers of Tiamat or what yet, still just gathering information, right?"

As Zeds starts talking with Bay, Ixsas bows and walls away. He's still concerned that Toren's screams may have drawn attention to their camp. He walks the wagon line to see that everyone is settled in for the night and to watch / listen for anything approaching their camp.
"The worshipers of Tiamat are discrete and tend to spend their time in prayer as they gather more dracoliches into their ranks. How did you come to know about them as they usually don't operate openly? The worshipers tend to wear black clothing while the higher ranked ones wore purple armor or clothing. Almost everyone wears mask as a sign of reverence. I have heard there is a higher rank of worshiper who wear special masks though I have never seen one. The meeting tends to be at random locations out of sight of any policing force." says bay.
He then shows how they kneel and bow down deep enough for you head to touch the floor. Bay says that is the correct position when in prayer. Then Bay recites a simple prayer where he says worshipers need not adhere to the same words and just need to express their faith in Tiamat.
"Great Io, Tiamat of All, grant us your scales of strength, Guide our wings to conquest, our hearts to fearlessness. In your chromatic breath, we find our purpose, In your ancient might, we are reborn. Dragon god, heed our call, rise and reign forevermore."
"Were there kobolds involved?" Zeds asks of Bay as he describes the ceremony and such. "I don't recall everyone wearing black ((do I?)) but some did wear masks..." As he says this, Zeds digs though his stuff and pulls out the Masked Rider's mask that he pick up much earlier on in the adventure. "Is this the type of thing they wore?"
Krackle lowers his head and gives the pack strapped to his chest a small hug. A frown spreads across his face. "even dragon worshippers don't care about kobolds..." he mumbles.
Ixsas notices the fire light reflected briefly in several pairs of small eyes in the brush nearby as they move closer to the camp.
((OOC: Heh. Not sure whether that was just supposed to be an example of glowing eyes or whether Ixsas can see that it's a family of raccoons.🦝))
Ixsas picks up a stick or pinecone or something else small and light from the ground nearby. He casts Light on it to shift the spell to that object. Then he tosses it near (but not at) the glowing eyes. 17 Ixsas just wants to get the light close enough to see what's approaching. It's probably a family of raccoons or deer or something else harmless, but he doesn't want to make assumptions while camping in the Trollclaws.

"Oops!"
Ixsas quickly casts Enhance Ability, Owl's Wisdom, on himself. Then he hurries over to the food stores and says, "Look out, Malfa! The little bandits are after our food." He grabs some leftover scraps from dinner or a small but fragrant sausage or something that he thinks they would want. He tries to lure them away from the wagons with it. Animal Handling20
Serge notices Ixsas shouting about racoons, but he can't pull himself away from Bay for now.
"You did well to flee this cult, and to rescue your brother as well."
"I did not have that chance. These dragon worshippers murdered my brother... my investigation into his killing has led me to make common cause with these three champions. You obviously love your brother very much, so you can understand my hurt. I cannot save Kost, but I can see that his killers face justice."
"You have been understanding and helpful, good sir, but I have to ask more. Did you ever hear any names mentioned? These higher ups... the ones in masks or in purple armor... or even just other families you knew and recognized? Tracking down even one of these types could lead us to the thread that unravels all their wicked schemes."

Seeing the pack of beasts scurry towards the camp Zeds draws and flicks a dagger in their direction. The intent is to have it stab and stick into the ground right in front of the leader and hopefully send them scattering back to the woods rather than to injure them...
Dagger Throw: 23 to hit, 6 damage in case of a mis-throw...
"Yes, any names you have of any of the leaders or such," Zeds says in agreement with Serge, his attention right back to the conversation despite his throw, "Also locations... Any specific cities or such. Businesses. Any scrap of information you have could prove useful to us in tracking them down and hopefully unravelling their plots."
Assuming that the creatures are moving in a large pack, Krackle would quickly turn and cast sleep on the largest group of racoons. (Extended) hoping to put them asleep so that they can be quickly removed or dispatched..
Bay looks at the racoons, but he turns back to answer the questions "I know I heard of Rezmir as one of the leaders though I never met her. The locations most likely changed by now as I have not seen the worshipers in years. There was an enclave of sorts in Luskan as that is where my family used to live before, we ran away."
Ixsas leaves the sleeping raccoons for now to listen to the rest of the conversation with Bay and to get caught up on anything he missed.
When they're done with Bay, Ixsas can help move the raccoons (carefully, one at a time in a sack, hopefully still asleep) away from the camp, releasing them near the closest spring or other water source. He figures that they'll likely avoid the camp for the rest of the night after their confusing experience.
"The racoons won't sleep very long..." The kobold says to the group, looking towards other members of the caravan. "Not sure what to do with them." He says as he slowly turns to look at Jr.... wondering if he would like to have a few furry snacks.

Yes, you can see the vague outline of a family of racoons. The light causes them to race into the camp towards Malfa and where the food is kept.
They seem intent on stealing the caravan's food stock.

32 sleep HP
One of the racoons chases the scrap of meat offered by Ixsas and other scampers away from the camp as Zeds dagger thumps into the ground.
Malfa turns armed with a big wooden spoon as she is ready to defend herself and the food.
The racoons leap onto the wagon and all of them fall asleep under Krackle Spell.
There are now 3 dozing racoons on the wagon near Malfa.
Bay looks at the racoons, but he turns back to answer the questions "I know I heard of Rezmir as one of the leaders though I never met her. Krackle Jr is licking his chops and pawing the ground. Fresh meat would be a delicacy compared the feed he has been eating.
Ixsas starts moving one racoon carefully.
Let me know if you feed the other racoons to Krackle Jr.
