Do any of you go back to search for Old Man Pete? He was around you earlier, but he appears to have disappeared. The other possibility is using speak with animals with the goat or one of the horses, or talking to Gayle.
As Archimedes lands on Aurora's shoulder, she approaches Gayle "Sorry to bother, Gayle. Have you seen where Mr.Capaldi went?"
"I'm sorry, I wasn't looking," she sighs, looking disappointed she couldn't tell you exactly where to find him, "but I assume into town. You know Pete, if you follow the noise you'll find him."
"Mh alright, never mind." Aurora looks a bit disappointed for a second, but then she asks "Do you know anything about this incident with the pumpkins?"
"Mh alright, never mind." Aurora looks a bit disappointed for a second, but then she asks "Do you know anything about this incident with the pumpkins?"
"Yeah... Farmer Gourd was attacked. I've spoken with the horses... I mean, magically, of course... they say it was a person that stole them, wearing a hood so they couldn't be recognized, but it was a person. They took the pumpkins into town in a small dot, but the horses didn't see much else."
From the description of the dot, it could be a portable hole.
Gayle raises an eyebrow, but doesn't ask you anything. Instead, she begins to whinny, exactly like a horse. One of the horses snorts and stomps its hooves in response.
"The horses say they attacked with a round object, which they believed to be some sort of frying pan or a strange club."
If you want to, you guys can make an investigation check to determine who would use a pan as a weapon?
Sure, seems great! Aurora investigation: 22
It would likely be someone without access to better weapons, like a club or a sword, or someone who was trying to hide that they're good with weapons; from the placements of the marks on Farmer Gourd and Hamitch, your best guess is the former, as the blows were clearly not terribly heavy or well-placed. Probably the weapon of choice of someone who spends a fair bit of time in the kitchen. You can think of a few people who could fit those descriptors - the tavernkeep and the tavern chef, the local baker, and a couple of the village elders.
Aurora relays that information to the others. "We could try to go to speak to the tavern's staff or the the baker. Or maybe we could go search for Mr.Capaldi and try to take some more information out of him"
Old Man Pete Capaldi isn't following you, but a small tiefling girl in a shabby dress is. You know her as Maths, a very smart person who loves problems and adventures. She waves at Archimedes. "So you're a familiar, are you? You're so cute! I just wanted to follow you guys, I love a good mystery."

"Thank you." Mira turns to Aurora and Knopper, "Where should we go from here?"

"Let's head towards the tavern." *I would like to keep an eye out for signs of Mr. Capaldi on the way there.*
*Make me a Perception check*

Perception - 5
You don't see him directly, but you swear you see a shadow of him flitting around in the alleys at the edge of your vision

Aurora sends Archimedes to check it out
Archimedes can make a Perception check too! Or investigation.
