This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
You head off, and the travel is uneventful for the most part. Don-Jon is recounting tales of his exploits. Some sounds far-fetched, but at the same time, there is a bit of a ring of truth to them. As evening hits, and you are starting to think about making camp Don-Jon points up to the sky. "Boy am I glad to have an escort now"
The dragon was flying overhead, and saw a snack down below. It is diving down to attack the party, reaching about 30ft away.
The party are up!
Don-Jon will whip out a sling and fire a stone at the dragon. Attack: 15 Damage: 3 bludgeoning damage if he hits.
The dragon roars, the various hits (everything hit except ray 3 from Kosef, and Gor) showing that this is not an easy meal. It flies away in search of other prey, letting off a breath of cold air first. Kosef and Quin ran so are far enough away to not be caught in the blast. Gor is knocked unconscious (failed save), Jayson takes a nasty hit (passed save, half damage, left on 9health, sheet updated) And Don-Jon is also quite injured (despite failing his save) but looks in a slightly better state than Jayson.
Gor gets up "Oah, it is not yet my time to give myself to Lodis it seems. I will continue to offer myself in battle, but maybe I will sacrifice that dragon first oah?"
”To the 5th circle of Hell with that thing. We may need some additional “oomph” to properly deal with the wyrm. In the meantime, let’s get where we’re going.”
You keep going and are about 5 miles out from the mine. A low ridge rises to your right, beyond which you see the Sword Mountains scrape the grey sky. But closer in, something is strewn across the rocky ground ninety feet ahead.
“Well, ain’t that something,” says Don-Jon, pointing at what appear to be six dead orcs.

Assuming you carry on going:
Hidden among bushes, a tunnel burrows into the foot of a soaring, snow-capped mountain. Above the mouth of the tunnel is a wooden plank with the words “Mountain’s Toe” carved into it in Common.
Kosef muses, "Hmm, it seems these Orcs are having problems with the dragon. I think if we get a chance, we should see if we could parlay with them. We may in the best position to work out some kind of alliance." He looks at Gor.
”Poor bastards. Likely barely knew what hit them. This dragon is equally a threat to everyone in this region. If we could band some groups together to hunt and defeat this common foe; the wyrm cannot take us all on at once.”
/ Ready to enter the tunnel once the group is assembled /
”Whatever is down here, it’s close enough to the mine it has to connect somewhere. Even better, in there the dragon can’t swoop in at us again. I say we take this tunnel and just see.”
"Oh good idea! I didn't consider that. Let me get my lantern ready." Quin unattaches his lantern from his pack and checks the oil level. A couple quick strikes on his flint and the lantern glows softly. Quin adjusts the hood so just a small amount of light escapes. Once ready he moves into the tunnel.
The orcs are clad in hide armor, and their greataxes and javelins litter the ground around them. They have 3gp and 18sp between them.
"'Tis the Mountain Toe Gold Mine we are after. I daresay we are in the right place."
You enter and find there is plenty of room. Ceilings throughout are 8 feet high and braced at regular intervals by wooden pilasters and beams. There is also regular lanterns so you can all see without torches. In the first opening, (will send a map soon, probably tomorrow once you have explored more) there are two female humanoid rat creatures (see spoiler and imagine it more female) "Newcomers? We can guide you to the Overseer""I think you are mistaken. I am the new overseer" "Not anymore. It is our mine now. We will take you to our leader if you wish to bargain" and they gesture for you to head deeper into the min. Don-Jon waits to follow your lead.
Quin is super eager to get on the road and expresses as much.

After joining more my signature got out of hand so I am now a proud member of the extended signature club!! :)
Which hits the dragon, enraging it a bit. Gor throws a javelin but misses (11, rolled on sheet)

Jayson stays low, but aims upwards, firing his x-bow at the wyrm as it dives.
(( Roll via sheet : 16 + 4 = 20, 1d6+2 = 4 dmg ))
”I feel like I’m throwing spitballs at this thing.”
/ Staying low, hoping for success from his comrades /
Kosef will look around for cover, is there somewhere we could hide or at least gain cover from the dragon? Perception check: 10
In the meantime, he'll summon a Scorching Ray at the dragon:
Ray 1 Attack: 21 Damage: 11 Fire
Ray 2 Attack: 13 Damage: 8 Fire
Ray 3 Attack: 26 Damage: 14 Fire
And run for any cover he finds.
Quin grabs one of his own special polished stones and hurls it at the dragon. Then he runs for cover.
Attack: 14 Damage: 4
Cunning action: hide 25

Quin shivers at what he sees, realizing how close they came to sharing the fate. (Rolled a 12) "Looks like they met their fate about three days ago."
Quin searches the bodies.

Jayson eyes the frozen orcs grimly.
”Poor bastards. Likely barely knew what hit them. This dragon is equally a threat to everyone in this region. If we could band some groups together to hunt and defeat this common foe; the wyrm cannot take us all on at once.”

Quin nods his agreement as a frozen finger breaks off.in his hand.
Once satisfied the bodies have been well picked over he joins Jayson at the opening.
"Do you think it's a short cut to the mine? Do we dare follow it or should we press on?

Kosef observes the creatures. Do they give any sign they're leading us into a trap or combat?
