Evara surveys the group around Keefe and addresses everyone saying “What a great idea Token, I love sharing. I’m excited to work with y’all! If you haven’t heard my name is Evara and I love talking to people, mostly about Garl Glittergold who saved my soul. I’m pretty strong and will fight to protect Garl’s will where I find it. I usually have a good sense about people and I have some minor abilities to heal. I also want to say Mr. Keefe that I luuuuve that ring (giving him a wink). What about y’all?”

Valde speaks about what he can do:" I'm a Druid. I attune to nature to hinder or help others. My favorite spells are ice spells. If caught in melee I can use this short staff decently. I can sustain me and others through berries if short on rations. Don't ask me to lift stuff because I'm not as strong as the brutal barbarians of my tribe.". He doesn't mention yet what Diety he serves but it is really easy to guess, considering his frost connection.
Mavis chimes in "I'm sure you're all a capable bunch, so don't do anything stupid that will get yourselves or any of my people killed. My duty is to protect you and the citizens from danger. So if it turns out there is a dragon in our city, don't go waking it up." Putting extra emphasis on her last statement like a parent instructing a toddler to not do something obvious, like play with knives.
Token breathes a sigh of relief at Evara’s response. “An’ it would be my honor t’ listen t’ the grace an’ majesty of Garl Glittergold.” he says.
”I’m awfully thankful fer th’ honesty here an’ I appreciate th’ information y’all were willin’ t’ share with one another. Hopefully, it won’t come down t’ a fight an’ we can all end this debacle peacefully but if fightin’s th’ only option left, I hope we can rely on our trust t’ make it through.” Token wondered if he had said the right words to the party. What would an experienced veteran have said or acted like in this situation? Token’s longbow started to feel heavier. Hunting animals was one thing, but something as large and as deadly as a dragon was definitely far beyond his capabilities.
"Come on, Miss Mavis. No one wants an evil dragon around. We are going to stop it before it happens!" Hana says merrily
"My abilities, huh. Well, I cast divine magic to protect everyone. If necessary I can, of course, cast it to damage evildoers." She smiles
Even if she takes a look around, she doesnt think too much of their comrades. They are willing to go to a quest for good, they cant be bad. She trusts them immediately. Her looking around is only to get familiar with her faces and names, its gonna be complicated with so many people, but she will definitely try her best.
Brother Keefe gives a slight nod to acknowledge Evans’s comment. “This ring is a symbol of my faith, a gift from Doomguide Glandon on my appointment as Keeper of the Dead.”
He doesn’t offer any other conversation during the trip, walking silently but briskly at the head of your group until the gates of the cemetery are visible in front of you.
The graveyard sits north of the city, on the opposite shore of the Stojanow River. While you may have expected dark, looming walls surrounding a dreary landscape, what you see is a delicate and intricately-patterned wrought-iron fence surrounding a beautiful garden of statues, tended plants, trees, mausoleums, and headstones.
The condition of the graveyard is entirely pristine, and you see a number of severely-dressed men and women working throughout, planting, pruning, cleaning gravestones and tomb walls.
Valhingen Graveyard is vast. At a glance one may think it’s as large as the city of Phlan itself, and portions of the architecture you can see are at least as old as the oldest structures in town.
Token gazes at the majesty of the graveyard. He had always imagined graveyards to be gloomy crypts with gnarled trees and faded tombstones. He thought about the tales of malicious necromancers who disrupted the dead by raising them as ghouls, skeletons and zombies, only to serve as fodder for the valiant heroes who would lay them to rest. This place looked far too peaceful for the evil dead to reside but his superstitions get the best of him and the mental image of a rotting hand suddenly breaking through the calm earth to drag him down to the pits of hell begins to occupy his thoughts.
Token cleared his throat to hide the trembling in his voice before addressing the devout within the group. “Uh Sister Hana? Sister Evara? Y’don’t s’pose it’s possible our mysterious figure who might be a drag’n could be tryin’ t’ wake the dead? Are there any signs of necromancin’ magic surroundin’ this place or ways of keepin’ the dead from risin’?” he asks.
Brother Keefe replies to Robin: "I'm not aware of any other concerns. The Order takes our charge very seriously, and we keep a very watchful eye on the grounds at all hours. If you will follow me."
Valhingen Graveyard looks more like a park than a cemetery and stands in stark contrast to the ramshackle, half-built Phlan you just passed through. Gravel walkways wend between tall trees, well-tended beds of shrubs and flowers, sturdy mausoleums, and rows of headstones, monuments, and commemorative statues. Brother Keefe leads you along one of these paths towards a richly crafted stone and marble building approximately 20 feet on each side, and he produces a key to unlock it.
Looking through the door shows an equally fine interior, with walls carved and painted but the details can't be discerned while you're standing outside the mausoleum. A marble sarcophagus stands in the center of the room.
After talking Token’s ear off about the glory of Garl Glittergold for the entirety of the trip, she started skipping around the graveyard. After walking into the mausoleum and spying the sarcophagus Evara inspects it visually and says “should we open it?”
Once inside, Evara can see that marble lid of the sarcophagus is carved into the likeness of a beautiful human woman in the prime of her life.
The walls of the crypt show various scenes of what appears to be the same woman in different locales: looking toward a snow-covered peak, standing in the rain of a thunderstorm, sitting in a comfortable room by a roaring fire, holding what appears to be a venomous snake in a garden, working with bubbling vials in a laboratory, and many others.
Brother Keefe follows Evara into the mausoleum. Without saying anything, he produces a crowbar from somewhere within his robes and carefully pries the lid off the sarcophagus, making sure it gently lowers to the ground. Inside, a jumbled pile of bones is immediately visible.
The vision of such beautiful graveyard completely shocks Hana. She starts looking around when they enter. For her is completely mesmerizing how beautiful and clean it is. Compared to the usual graveyard with vines and dusty stones, this is the clear example of how a graveyard should be treated.
"This is definitely how a graveyard should be. You have my complete admiration Brother Keefe. My goddess would be delighted to see every graveyard like this one." Hana says smiling, completely impressed.
She turns around until she finds who called her, a little out by the beauty of the place. Then she smiles at Token.
"Huh, I dont think there is another reason for some evildoer to be in the graveyard. We will surely find undeads or worse. But we may catch them early and prevent that."
Hana enters the mausoleum after Sister Evara and Brother Keefe, only to watch every single wall of the crypt. Its beautiful. This kind of care for the art and the beauty surely is why Sune has sent her here. She turns around then she hears them taking the lid off.
Enzo had kept quiet during the trip to the graveyard. Content to listen and learn, he keeps to himself about his particular talents and abilities, they will learn soon enough if trouble is to be found on this little quest.
As they enter the mausoleum, he brushes his cape back over his shoulder so his hands are free to draw his weapons.
As the lid is slid off, Enzo looks down at the bones with a frown. "These are the remains of who you believe to be a polymorphed dragon?" He looks around the place for a name.
Mavis has never been to the graveyard before. It was outside of her jurisdiction, and she is disgusted by the pristine and majestic condition of the graveyard compared to the rest of her city. She has seen first hands the effects of martial law and the poverty that has stricken most of the city, and to see the graveyard in such a consummate state compared to the disrepair of her city makes her question the judgement of those in power. The fact that they have more respect for the dead than the living is a thought that begins to plague her mind with doubt against the very fabric of everything she has believed in up to this point.
She suppresses the existential thoughts as she enters the building with the rest of the group, but she can't hide her visible annoyance of the immaculate interior of the building housing this single coffin. She channels her annoyance by rubbing her thumb along the hilt of her sheathed sword, and tapping her foot impatiently as Keefe lowers the lid of the coffin. She almost hopes for a living skeleton to protrude from the coffin so she can have an excuse to stab something.
Evara’s Divine Sense does not detect any celestial, fiend, or undead.
Enzo, looking at the bones, notices something odd about them. They certainly don’t appear in the shape you’d expect of a person lying reposed. Make an investigation or nature check.
Token had always found comfort in legends, ever since he was little. Hearing the fantastic exploits of Garl Glittergold in addition to witnessing the fearlessness of the group eased Token’s anxiety and he steeled himself before entering the crypt.
Inside the crypt, Token found himself entranced by the wall’s carvings. There were stories to be found here and Token couldn’t help his curiosity. “So, this the “long standin’ resident” you’ve been hirin’ adventurers for? Who exactly was she an’ what did she do t’ be buried in such a fine tomb?” he asked Brother Keefe.
As the lid of the sarcophagus was opened, Token was reminded of his duties. Now was not the time to be fixated on stories. Token placed a hand on the longbow slung over his shoulder while listening intently for any signs of danger, be they living or dead.
Anyone looking at the bones sees certainly don’t appear in the shape you’d expect of a person lying reposed. Anyone can make an investigation or nature check.
