Xanrym - The man nods, then holds out his hand for you to shake, "Fair enough friend, if you're going into the Rushmoors make sure to be careful, there are many rumours of monsters and beasts that live in those swamps. In terms of a horse, i'd be happy to provide you with a sturdy horse. If it truly is a job that will bring some peace to this town, i'd be happy to provide it for cheaper too. How about 40gp?" He definitely seems more trusting of you.
Liarin - Ramne looks at you suspiciously, "You been to this town? No one offers help unless it's a family member, and even then they ask a few questions first. Whiskers tells me you're group talked down the villagers last? Is what they said true? Did you kill the priestess?" He's really grilling you for information.

Xanrym chats affably, "Thank you for the warning! I wouldn't dare go into the Rushmoors alone: I'm not so foolhardy!" He pats Avery's broad shoulder and says with a laugh, "But with a trusty knight at my side, I find that I'm much braver! I'm sure you would, too!" He reassures the man so that he knows that they're not taking his horse to certain doom,"Avery and I and our other friends have already overcome some stiff challenges. For example, we recently killed a two-headed giant, if you can believe it! Yes, if we just have a sturdy horse to carry some extra food and clean water, I'm confident that we can face even the more monstrous denizens of the Rushmoors."
Regarding the price, Xanrym says, "That price is more than fair! Thank you! I don't suppose that we could buy the tack and saddlebags here, too, could we? Or, if not, perhaps you could send someone to the store for us so that we can pick up the horse fully-outfitted. I'd be happy to throw in a couple of extra gold for your trouble, and it would save us some time. We have a few other things to do in Orlane before we can head out."
"Yes, we were the groups that talked down the villagers last night, and yes, unfortunately we have killed the priestess and other cult members in self defense. If would could have survived without killing them we would have, as it has become clear that very few in the grip of the cult are doing so of their free will. We're setting off to the Rushmoors to kill the naga at the center of this, hopefully before she converts the mayor, and before anyone else from the village dies. Our hope was that you might be able to offer us any help, possibly inculding guiding us to the Rushmoors or telling us who could."

Theldrin was thinking to let the two druids connect at first but now decides to step in and try to help the negotiation. "Yes, unfortunately we found the priestess and her thugs trying to abduct the trader we escorted here, in the middle of the night at the Inn. In the fight that ensued, though we tried to capture her alive... it didn't work out." He pauses, then continues, "We certainly would appreciate any help you could offer us."
Xanrym - The livreyman, Kilian, smiles at you. "You can buy anything you need here for that kind of thing. As for sending someone to the shop, i'd usually say we could send my boy Michah. But I don't think my wife would let him walk around the town by himself. I don't think I would either for that matter."
Liarin - Ramne listens intently to your information, "That woman needed to die. No doubt about it, she was one of the few people I know wasn't under a charm spell. She served of her own free will, good riddance." He waves his hand, he seems to be very well informed. "So you think its a naga huh? That would make sence, potent spellcasters they are." He thinks to himself a little, looking over at Whiskers for a moment. "So your going to get the mayor huh? How do you know he's not under the naga's charm as well?" The intense questioning continues.

"I could escort your son to the store and back, if that would set your minds at ease," Avery offers. "What you say about the mayor could be true, we will have to watch him and see how he reacts based on the experiences we already we have had with those under the Naga influence and compare it."
"Our dealing with him so far have led us to believe he is yet unaffected. We'd assume he was under the influence when we rescue him unless we see evidence to the contrary."

"We're certain at this point that it is a naga," Theldrin adds. "We founds several naga statues in the cult's secret passages under the town, and rescued Cirilli daughter of the general store proprietor, who was taken to the naga but evaded its spells somehow." He rubs his beard thoughtfully, pausing for a moment to look at Whiskers, giving the squirrel a brief smile before continuing. "Speaking of which, if I can locate a pearl somewhere in town here I should be able to use it to cast a spell that would let me identify what exactly the spell is that these folk are under..."
Xanrym - The livreyman, Kilian, smiles at you. "You can buy anything you need here for that kind of thing. As for sending someone to the shop, i'd usually say we could send my boy Michah. "I could escort your son to the store and back, if that would set your minds at ease," Avery offers.
Xanrym says, "Thank you, Kilian! Yes, I think that Avery's company would prevent anyone from bothering your son, but if you have a pack saddle, saddlebags, and everything here, we may not even need Micah's help expect to purchase some incidentals. Why don't you show us the horse you had in mind!"
Xanrym was mostly focused on getting the tack and feed for the horse. Even if Micah is up for it, Xanrym thinks that the horse-trader's son would immediately draw suspicion if he showed up at the general store asking for a couple of suits of adult-sized armor, crossbow bolts, etc. Perhaps he could convince a few different villagers to buy gear for them so that they could split up their purchases. Then again, Xanrym is starting to feel like it might be quicker and easier just to have Theldrin put the shopkeeper to sleep while they get what they need (and leave the payment for him).
Xanrym pays Kilian once they settle on the price for the horse, pack saddle, saddlebags, bit & bridle, several days of feed, and a bucket. He tells Kilian that he or Avery will com by before dinner time to collect the horse if Kilian could have it ready by then.
"What you say about the mayor could be true, we will have to watch him and see how he reacts based on the experiences we already we have had with those under the Naga influence and compare it."
(OOC: @Aaggie - the group split up, so Avery and Xanrym aren't currently part of the other conversation with Ramne.)
Xanrym and Avery - Kilian trusts you enough to escort his son in daylight to the general store and back if that's something you want to do. As for the horse he takes you to see, it's a beautiful brown and white draft horse with a light brown mane called Heckle. "In terms of price, How about we call it an even 50gp for the horse and everything you need for it. Sound good?" He holds out his hand for you to shake.
Liarin and Theldrin - Ramne narrows his eyes even further at the two of you, "Seems to me as though you aren't being as suspicious of these people as you should be. This cult has cursed this town and no one is trustworthy, not even me! You get it!" He addresses Theldrin, "Ah yes, Identify, a handy spell that one. I'm sure i'll be able to find a pearl here for you." He goes back into the shack and comes out with a pearl and gives it to you, "Look, it seems like you've uncovered more than i'd given you credit for about this 'naga'. If you're looking for help getting to the lair i don't think i can help personally. But if you need a tracker, no ones better than old Whiskers here. He'll be able to track down the scent of the mayor and his captors, if capture is really what's happened. What do you say?" He smiles crazily at you.
Theldrin beams as he accepts the pearl, "Much gratitude," he says with a bow, "how much do I owe you?"
On the subject of Whiskers tracking, he looks at the squirrel and then back at the crazy grin on the druid's face. "Indeed a generous offer..ah, that would be an irony fit for the entertainment of the gods, the cult of the naga overthrown by a squirrel..." he says with a warm smile. He glances at Liarin to gauge her reaction to the idea, while pondering what exactly Whiskers' story might be. He's heard of high level wizards casting an Awakening spell that could give an animal higher intelligence, or is he another shapeshifter.
"Sounds great!", Xanrym says, and he shakes Kilian's hand. He's willing to have Avery escort Micah to the general store, but he recommends that Avery waits outside while Micah makes the purchases for them. (It's better if Isiah doesn't realize that the gear is for the party that chased away the mob last night.) They'll need to borrow a wheelbarrow or something from Kilian so that Micahn and Avery can carry all of the gear back.
Xanrym sits down and writes down a shopping list in neat handwriting. Normally, he'd be worried about sending a young boy with such a long list, but since Avery will be right outside, Xanrym trusts that he'll be able to double-check. (If Isiah tries to swindle Micah, they can always return to the store as a group to settle the matter.)
8 potions of healing (or as many as he can get if they don't have 8) (N x 50gp) <-- To divide among the party.
Antitoxin (50 gp)
20 x Crossbow bolts (1gp)
Dagger (2gp)
Caltrops (1gp)
2 x flask of oil (0.2 gp)
10-foot pole (0.05gp)
Acid (25 gp)
Mirror, steel (5gp)
2 days' rations (1gp)
Studded Leather Armor (45 gp)
Hide Armor (10 gp) <-- For Liarin
Split armor (200 gp) <-- Only if Avery wants to upgrade from chainmail.
Xanrym sends Avery with the chest that they found under the inn that holds most of their treasure: about 1/3 of the gold, 2/3 of the silver, 1/2 of the copper, and about 1/2 of their gems. That should be enough to pay for everything (except for Avery's splint mail armor, which would require Avery to spend the rest of his share of the treasure plus some). While Avery and Micah go to the store, Xanrym goes back to the inn to count out enough of their remaining silver and copper to pay Kilian. Then he returns to Kilian to pay for Heckle and his tack.
