Hearing the Derro approaching around the corner and not liking how separated the party is getting, Theldrin attacks the Kruthik with Shocking Grasp hoping to stun it before he moves into the house.
Seeing the alien-looking creature breaking through the window, Xanrym briefly wonders whether every creature is this grotto is strange and deadly. He casts a spell, saying, "You have a smile that only a mother could love!" Then, hearing Khessa's warning, he heads into the Townhouse. After all, their goal is to "defend the Townhouse," If the interlopers simply leave, all the better!
Worried about getting too spread out, Xanrym calls back to Khessa, "Come on, Khessa! We can hold the door against them."
Movement: Use ~25-ft of movement to duck though the doorway and into the townhouse, avoiding getting with the Kurthik's reach. With the first room clear, Xanrym heads north toward the door, but he doesn't move through, thinking that Khessa and Theldrin will need help here if the aberrations try to follow them. Action: Cast spell Vicious Mockery at Kurthic #2 WIS 16 save or the Kurthic takes 12 (psychic) damage and has disadvantage on the next attack roll it makes before the end of its next turn. One target within 60 ft range. Free Action: Talking
Concentration: Create Bonfire round 2 of 10 Any creature who moves into the fire on a turn or ends its turn there before Xanrym's next turn must make a DC 16 DEX saving throw or take damage: 11 (fire)
Khessa agrees with the basic idea of Xanrym's plan—that is, to regroup and establish a strong defensive position. Her blue eyes wander from the enemies to the path to follow...
[[ OOC: ...But obviously she will act on her turn. ]]
(OOC: @Aaggie - Based on @drumdigby's description, Avery would only be knocked prone if he was hit, and I don't think that he was. Even if he is prone, he is not grappled for restrained. That is, standing up should just cost 1/2 his movement, and he would still be able to attack in round 2. Go get 'em!)
(OOC: Sorry didn't mean to leave Khessa alone outside the house)
Theldrin pokes his head around the doorway and taunts the closest Kruthik, laughing at it mockingly, hoping to draw it towards the door instead of towards Khessa.
As Khessa goes blurry, Syllen's crows rip thorugh the derro, killing derro 8. Theldrin is able to shock Kruthik 1 before retreating, and Kruthik 2 is effectively perturbed by Xanrym's mockery.. Avery get's back on his feet, while Coriana kills derro 12.
The derro then stab out at their targets, 8 aims a spear at the crows next to him, while 9 and 10 enter the fray to try and drop Khessa (at disadvantage):
Hooked Spear against Crows Attack: 10 Damage: 5 Piercing, and the crows are dropped Prone (Is that possible Syllen?)
Hooked Spear against Khessa Attack: 18 Damage: 3 Piercing, and she's dropped Prone.
Hooked Spear against Khessa Attack: 6 Damage: 5 Piercing, and she's dropped Prone.
The Kruthik then run out and attempt to attack Khessa as well (first strike from Kruthik 2 at Disadvantage), while Quindal laughs, clearly not concerned the battle is going against the derro, and moves away from the crows and fires a chromatic beam of light from his head Avery and Derro 8, doing
Khessa, as she had intended, rejoins her companions; therefore, without lowering her guard, she retreats until she reenters the house through the door, as Theldrin had done.
The blonde arcane warrior, aware of her good physical and magical defenses, doesn't seem particularly troubled by being left alone for a moment. She positions herself to defend the door—if possible, slightly recessed from the threshold, so that only one of the two monsters can stand there and attack her. However, her priority remains to act as a "buxom blonde barrier" and protect the rest of the party on this front, so if the only way to achieve this is to continue to suffer attacks from both monsters... she accepts the calculated risk.
[[ OOC: Khessa uses her Action to Disengage (no Attacks of Opportunity) and her Movement to reach the new position. She is still Blurry - the attacks of the monster are at Disadvantage. Hopefully, next round she will be able to eventually fight back! ]]
(OOC: @Painted_Beyond - since Khessa is surrounded, I don't think that she can move past her opponents into the house even with Disengage. Not unless one of the others takes out one of her opponents first.)
Xanrym isn't sure how the fight is going in the room where his bonfire still burns, but he can see through the window that Khessa was surrounded in front of the townhouse. He's glad to see that between her armor and her magic, she was able to fend off all of their attacks, but that might not last for long.
If any of the opponents who had surrounded Khessa is still alive, Xanrym will move first to the window on the NW side of the current room and then target one of them. (see spoiler) Then he calls out to Coriana and Avery, "How's it going in there?"
Movement: Xanrym moves to the door to get a clear shot at one of the enemies still outside the townhouse. Then he moves back to his current position. Action: If there is more than one opponent still alive after Conjure Animals, Xanrym targets them in this order: Kurthik 1, Kurthik 2, Derro 10, Derro 9. If the target is a Kurthik, he casts the spell Vicious Mockery, WIS 16 save or the Kurthik takes 6 (psychic) damage and has disadvantage on the next attack roll it makes before the end of its next turn. If the target is a Derro, he casts the spell True Strike with Attack, Crossbow, Light (80/320): 10, Damage: 13 (piercing) + 11 (radiant) = 23 (total) Free Action: Talking. If using True Strike, equip crossbow.
If not, Xanrym moves into the next room and, seeing no Derro still standing there, moves into the next room and tries to help finish off Quindal. (see next spoiler)
Movement: Xanrym moves through the doorway and further into the townhouse, looking for any more opponents, finishing next to Avery at the position marked with the red X on the map. Action: Seeing Quindal standing on the wall (!), Xanrym grabs his crossbow and casts the spell True Strike with Attack, Crossbow, Light (80/320): 20, Damage: 1 (piercing) + 7 (radiant) = 24 (total) Free Action: Equip crossbow.
In any case, Xanrym maintains his concentration on the bonfire for now.
Concentration: Create Bonfire round 3 of 10 Any creature who moves into the fire on a turn or ends its turn there before Xanrym's next turn must make a DC 16 DEX saving throw or take damage: 10 (fire)
Coriana sends the tentacle after Quindal. AC 22, 11 cold damage. She then moves to the door and fires at the derro, hoping to clear a path for Khessa AC 17, 1 slashing; AC 22, 8 slashing.
