That seems reasonable. So you're all off to the temple. I'll check back in in a few hours and see if anyone has any issues with that, otherwise i'll take you all there.
Mayor Ormond will address you. "Remember to be careful, you don't know that the remaining acolytes at the temple are friendly. I don't know any of them personally as most of them have taken a vow of silence. So i can't tell you which are more likely to be accommodating."
So you head to the temple in the afternoon. The silent acolytes that greeted you earlier nod there heads as usual. It’s hard to tell what they’re thinking. As you step to go inside, an acolyte stops you, a young woman with close dropped black hair and her hands by her sides with palms facing out. “Sorry friend, but if you’re here to see Misha, I’m afraid she’s not here at the moment. She out on official church business.”
Liarin doesn't respond, hoping another will take up the slack. She keeps her eyes and ears open looking for anything off. [Insight: 16, Perception: 19]

Theldrin also decides Avery or Xanrym would probably be a better choice as a party spokesperson in this situation, keeping quiet for the moment as he gives the acolyte a polite bow.
All good, we'll let Avery or Xandrym lead this. I know Xandrym put a whole bunch of ideas in the chat group so if you want to respond there which plan you think is best it will be easier for them to act when they come online.
Ok so let me see if i can parse what you're plans might be:
Morning: You are currently meeting with Mayor Ormond.
Afternoon: Split up into groups and talk to people around town and buy stuff.
Evening: Visit the Temple of Merikka to work out what's going on there.
(OOC: I'd swap that. Xanrym wants to go to the temple next because he wants to try to get there before they hear about Misha, if possible. He also doesn't expect that the other people in Orlane will be able to tell them much about what they might find inside the temple.
In the evening, they can start talking to the people Mayor Ormond mentioned. We could split up for that part so that we can talk to more people. Xanrym still thinks that it's best for them to go in pairs so that the cult can't jump them so easily like they did with Avery last night. Xanrym suggests the groups should be
Avery & Theldrin
Liarin & Xanrym
That way, each group has one of the party members who can survive in melee, and each group has someone with a +4 of higher in persuasion, intimidation, insight, and investigation.

Avery concurs, "We can speak to the old Ranger, or take on the challenge of the old codger. We can do this after we check out the temple."

She out on official church business.”
Avery, placing both hands palms against his chest, bows. "No miss, we are not here to see your priestess, but perchance to sit before your alter and commune. Also, if any of you are skilled in medicine or herbal healing, I have been rather banged up and could use a poultice."
Avery, placing both hands palms against his chest, bows. "No miss, we are not here to see your priestess, but perchance to sit before your alter and commune. Also, if any of you are skilled in medicine or herbal healing, I have been rather banged up and could use a poultice."
Xanrym says, "Yes, your healers helped our employer, Maajid, yesterday. Avery here had a little mishap, and we were hoping that you could help him too. And while we're here, our employer asked us to give thanks to the goddess and make an offering on his behalf." He reaches into his pouch and pulls out a few gold coins.
(OOC: I'll make a roll here, assuming help from Avery. I don't know whether it should be persuasion or deception, but Xanrym has the same bonus in both: 23)
Theldrin grabs a gold piece from his pouch and adds it to the offering. "Merikka be praised," he says quietly as he closes his eyes and bows his head for a few seconds.
The acolyte looks confused for a moment but then smiles, "Of course friends, come on in. We would be happy to have you worship at Merikka's alter and accept your donation". The acolyte, Joclyn, leads you into the main sanctuary. This large room has a tile floor decorated with an abstract mosaic pattern in orange, tan, brown, and blue. Several tapestries decorate the walls, all depicting scenes of lush farmland and crops in various stages of maturity. Five huge elm trunks serve as columns in the room, and a statue of Merikka, carved from a solid piece of jade, is mounted on a low dais at the north end of the room. There are four doors in the room: east, west, southeast, and southwest.
Joclyn addresses you as she goes through the door to the west. "I'm just going to get the offering bowl, feel free to pray at the statue. I will let you know that only acolyte's of Merikka are allowed to go beyond this room." She leaves.
After her initial confusion, it almost seemed like she was about to turn you away. But then she seemed to get an idea, and she smiled. When she asked you to come inside, you feel as though perhaps she had a hidden intention for asking you inside. The smile she made as she entered the doorway was wicked.
As soon as Joclyn exits the room, assuming the party seems to be alone in the sanctuary for the moment, Theldrin get the others' attention. He says in a barely audible whisper as he points in the direction she went, "Be on your guard..."

(OOC: Once Joclyn leaves, is anyone else in the main sanctuary with us? Or are we (apparently) alone? How large is the main sanctuary room?)
You're alone, all the other acolytes were outside tending the garden. The room is really big, about 35ft by 40ft. The statue and trees are big but there's still plenty of room to walk around.
As soon as Joclyn exits the room, assuming the party seems to be alone in the sanctuary for the moment, Theldrin get the others' attention. He says in a barely audible whisper as he points in the direction she went, "Be on your guard..."
Xanrym watches the door close behind Joclyn and immediately says, "Do you want to wait here and stall, or should we all explore together?" He explains, "If she's a true cleric of Merrika, I'll beg their pardon. If not...." He doesn't finish that sentence since they all know what that would mean.
If the party wants to stick together, Xanrym heads to the door to the east, opposite the one where Jocyln went, as quickly as possible. He'll try to open it quietly and peek through before they go into that room. Stealth25
If the rest of them want to stay in the main sanctuary, Xanrym asks ask, "Should I try to follow her? Or try the other door?"
You note nothing out of the ordinary. The jade statue is inherently interesting. Probably worth a lot of money, but this certainly seems like a temple to the agricultural god Merikka.
Avery also senses something is a foot. "Does this cult run deeper than their priestess here, are these acolytes also or at least this one in particular seems not to be truthful? I agree, we should move. If they are up to no good, we could be ambushed once more. Sometimes better to ask for forgiveness then permission. If we're wrong, the only harm done is they will throw us out , yes?
