This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
Both Ghouls get pummelled by spells and are both getting pieces blown off them. Ghoul 2 get blown into the wall by Theldrin's Thunderwave and takes an extra 9 Bludgening damage.
The smell of death still emanates from the south. While the north seems like the dustier, less used, portion of the cave.
Xanrym helps Theldrin bring the chest out from the alcove. He asks, "What do you think? It seems like we found the treasure that they were collecting for Misha's cult. Should we just take the chest back upstairs?" He looks back up the tunnel to the east. "Or do you it's worth the risk of running into traps or more ghouls and snakes? Perhaps there's something else down here that will tell us more about the cult and who they worship."
If the tunnels are wide enough for the dire wolf-Liarin, Xanrym suggests, "Liarin, can you see in the dark like a wolf? Yes? Maybe you'd like to take the lead and go a little ahead of Theldrin's light?"
Xanrym can help Theldrin carry the chest of coins if they're going to continue exploring the tunnels. Or the wizard can carry the chest himself, and Xanrym will just follow along at the back of the line with his crossbow ready.
Just an aside, I've had a think about the whole large creature in cramped spaces thing, and i think i'm going to have to rule that a Dire Wolf can't get through a lot of these spaces. Many of them are smaller than 5ft wide, and i think it's kind of unreasonable that a gigantic wolf could get through them. It's also not too detrimental to Liarin's character, because there are plenty of animals you could change into that would fit through the passages.
Liarin shifts back to human, "Wow, tight squeeze in here." [[OOC: I hpnestly forgot dire wolves were Large.]]
Xanrym looks at what's left of the eviscerated ghoul and back to Liarin. He says, "That...that's a fascinating ability, Liarin! I wonder, can you cast spells when you're transformed like that?" While he has heard of druids' elemental magic and their control over shapes and forms, he has never traveled with a druid before.
Many other questions spring to mind about how it works, what forms she can take, what happens if she is killed while in wolf form, etc. He almost asks whether she can taste the victims that she bites while in the form of a wolf, but then the smell of death and decay hits him again. Thinking about biting into a ghoul makes him feel nauseated, and he decides that maybe there are some mysteries that he doesn't need to unravel. Xanrym tries to focus on their current situation and the potential danger, but he makes a mental note to talk to Liarin more tomorrow.
"I think we should leave the chest for now and make sure nothing else nasty is back here to the south."
"OK," Xanrym says. "Maybe it's better that you're not in wolf form, Liarin. These tunnels are narrow enough that you could just conjure a fire to block the tunnel if we get surrounded or if we need to cover our escape."
They already have the potions and scrolls, and Xanrym makes sure to grab the gemstones, at least, before they move on. Then he lowers the drape to conceal the chest again. He falls in at the back of the line with his crossbow.
You head south and immediately meet a crossroad. To the east the smell of decay is as strong as it’s ever been. And you know that whatever is making that noise is down that path. To the west it actually smells better, and there’s even a few human footprints on the ground as though someone has been down that path recently that wasn’t a ghoul.
Avery states, "More and likely more ghouls, or worse, maybe ghasts down that way where it smells so bad. The path to the west may be better, at least a human went that way."
"Agreed..." Theldrin nods. "I'd be more prepared for fighting ghouls and such once I've had some rest, as my spells are now somewhat depleted I'm afraid."
Xanrym is fine with whatever Avery decides. Since he's at the rear, most of his attention is actually focused on watching back the way they came to make sure that a ghoul or snake doesn't sneak up on him from behind.
Down the right path opens out into a large chamber. In the centre is a golden statue of what at first appears to be a snake. But on closer inspection it has a human face. Magnificent in it's giant glory, the statue seems to look at you with red eyes, which under scrutiny seem to be rubies. It's stands about a foot taller than any of you. Around the statue are human skeletons, when you inspect them it doesn't seem they plan on returning to life.
Down the right path opens out into a large chamber.
(OOC: Does the tunnel continue? Are there other exits? Or you mean that the tunnel ends at this chamber?)
Xanrym is fascinated by the statue. If someone else will keep watch at the tunnel entrance, Xanrym would like to investigate the statue for hidden compartments or any writing that may tell them more about it. (Investigation4)
Has Xanrym every heard of a human-headed snake creature like this? (History8, or if that should beArcana or Nature: 0)

Ghoul 1 makes a CON save against Dire Wolf knockdown: 9

Both Ghouls get pummelled by spells and are both getting pieces blown off them. Ghoul 2 get blown into the wall by Theldrin's Thunderwave and takes an extra 9 Bludgening damage.
It hits the floor and doesn't get back up, re-dead?. Ghoul 1 is still frothing at the mouth and fighting though.
The rest of you are up, Xanrym, Avery, and Liarin.
Sorry and that CON save for Avery before was only if the attack hit. Which i don't think it did, so disregard
Liarin tries to savage the ghoul again. Attack: 18 Damage: Unable to parse dice roll.

And that ghoul drops too. Eviscerated by the giant wolf. The snarling battle is over as quickly as it started.
Now you have to decide whether you'll turn back or keep exploring the cavern.
