Xanrym says, "Since we need to bring our own light, stealth won't help us much unless the enemy is blind." He suggests that Avery should go first like he did in the tunnels under the inn. Xanrym can watch the rear. Suggested marching order for descending the ladder:
Avery
Liarin
Theldrin
Xanrym
While Avery comes through into the bedroom, Xanrym steps into the hall a few feet and casts minor illusion at the spot in the hallway just in front of the 3rd alcove from the north end of the hallway. The illusion is of one of the golden statues of the harvest bounty, lying on the floor in front of the alcove as though it was moved and tipped over into the hallway. (When Joclyn checks through the door from the main sanctuary for them, he just wants to give her a reason to waste time looking for them to the north of the hallway before checking this bedroom at the south. It may give the party an extra round or two head start.)
Once they're all inside the bedroom, Xanrym closes the door to the bedroom and helps move the bed in front of the door as Avery recommended. Then he follows the others down the ladder, closing the trap door behind him. As soon as they're down the ladder, he gets out his light crossbow and loads a bolt. If there's no immediate danger in the room at the bottom of the ladder, he'll keep a watch on the trap door at the top of the ladder.
You all touch down in to an old dusty hallway, about 10 ft wide, you're currently at the south end, and at the north end it curves around and you see another trapdoor. In the middle of the hallway is a door leading west.
Avery stops, for it appears to be a door on the right (correct?). He stops and listens, to see of he hears anything on the other side, while softly checking for traps and if there is a handle, if its locked (Perception: 9 Investigation: 5 )
If you’re coming up from the south the door will be in your left. The door doesn’t seem trapped, and you can’t hear anything from the others side. Emptiness fills this basment

Xanrym says, "It's good to hear that there's another way back into the temple: it makes me feel less trapped." But Xanrym agrees that they should try the door. They know that Joclyn is upstairs and that as soon as she finds them, she will probably throw them out (if she's a faithful cleric of Merikka) or attack them (if she's a cultist). Normally, he'd want to search this room thoroughly before moving on, but he's worried that Joclyn is going to open the trap door at any moment. He's hoping that they'll be through the door and out of sight before that happens.
Xanrym keeps watch on the trap door through which they came until they're ready to try the door leading to the west. Then he'll switch his focus to the door so that he can be ready in case anything jumps out at Avery.
Action: ready an attack, Crossbow, Light (80/320): 16, Damage: 6 piercing Trigger - if anything immediately attacks Avery when he opens the door, target it with his crossbow
If nothing attacks Avery when he opens the door, and they go through the door, then Xanrym will follow at the back of the line, closing the door behind him. Before he closes the door, he'll look back one more time at the trap door to ensure that it's still closed, and no one is following them yet.
You step out of one hallway into another. This one smellier and murkier than the last. You don't see any sign of pursuers... yet. When you enter the next hallway, you see a number of possible exits, there's another opening leading west, while the hallway wraps around again to the northwest. You hear a deep mumbling coming from the entrance to the west.
The creature is speaking Giantish. I’ll translate if anyone can understand. But it sounds slow and drawling.
(OOC: none of the characters speaks giantish. Xanrym knows comprehend languages, but he doesn't really want to burn a spell slot on it.)
Xanrym asks whether the others think that understanding what it's saying is worth waiting 10 minutes for a ritual casting of comprehend languages. Somehow, Xanrym doubts that the speaker will wait that long unless it's just too big to get through the narrow part of the hallway. If the others are willing to wait and keep watch, Xanrym will begin the ritual casting.

(OOC: From that, I think that that's just what we can see from where we currently stand. For example, the passage toward the north / northwest may extend beyond what we currently see on the map.)
While the party determines their next step, Xanrym gets out his lantern, fills it with oil, and lights it with his tinderbox. He just doesn't want to be entirely reliant on Theldrin's light in case they get separated or enter a larger area.
While he works, Xanrym quietly asks, "Go west and see what's making the noise and smell? Or try going north and see whether there's a way around...whatever it is?"
Xanrym will, of course, follow the others, moving to the back of the line if they choose to go north. If he has time after lighting the lantern and before the others are ready to try the tunnel to the west, he will just move to the north end of the tunnel to peek around the corner where it turns west. The lantern casts dim light out to 60', and he just wants to see whether it turns or ends in a door before that.

Xanrym - Fine world building. It seems reasonable to me that acolytes of Merrika would worship crops such. The trapdoor open easily
Liarin looks into utter darkness in the trapdoor below the bed. There is a ladder leading down, but you'll need a light source to explore further.
As Avery is keeping watch, ask, "Can you see anything? If not, look for a candle, there should be some in these rooms unless they have windows."
Liarin looks around for a torch or at least a candle.

Theldrin casts Light on his dagger and shines the light through the trapdoor.

Theldrin listens intently, trying to discern anything he can about the mumbling sound, if he can tell what language it is or understand any words.

"There will be a good chance that after 10 minutes, someone up above is going to notice we're all gone and may start come looking," Avery points out.
Theldrin frowns and nods, "I agree... ten minutes is a long time right now, probably best not to take that much time."
OK. Fair enough.
Xanrym whispers, "Well, hopefully it's not actually a giant! I mean -- what would a Temple of Merikka be doing with a giant in its cellar?"
