This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
Well then if that's the case, Fadheela will use her Petrifying Gaze on Coriana:
Coriana makes a DC 13 CON Save or is Restrained: 15 . She will then make another CON Save at the end of her turn, gaining the Petrified Condition on a failure.
You all are up, Coriana is slowly turning to stone while Avery fights the Grimlocks. The Bloodhulk currently blocks the doorway to the chamber for the others to get in.
You all are up, Coriana is slowly turning to stone while Avery fights the Grimlocks. The Bloodhulk currently blocks the doorway to the chamber for the others to get in.
Seeing the Bloodhulk blocking his view of the room, Xanrym asks in a panic, "Khessa, if you can push that thing back from the entrance, I can bring a mirror out to you!"
Khessa is not at all pleased with having a colossus blocking the room... effectively separating two party members from everyone else.
"Just a moment, Xanrym..." the blonde arcane warrior replies to the bard, wielding her Pike and, while Anator briefly distracts the large monster, she takes a short run to charge and impale the Bloodhulk and push it away.
[[ OOC: Movement: to get the Bloodhulk in Pike range. Anator's Action: Help Action: Attack with the Pike ]]
If she hits, she pushes the target up to 10 feet straight away from herself, for if it is Large or smaller.
Round 1
[[ OOC: Since it was a good roll, I assume Khessa hit. If not, forget what I'm writing now. ]]
The tall adventuress smiles briefly at Xanrym: "See? Just ask!" and, to avoid a repeat of the situation, goes to occupy the area in front of the entrance.
Khessa notices the long-awaited Fadheela in close combat with Coriana and immediately thinks: 'Great! We found her!' But then, seeing Coriana suspiciously motionless, concern sets in: 'What the f...?'
(OOC: FYI - I attached a 10-ft Emanation (in green) around Syllen's flock of ravens on the map. I suspect that @JehanO will remind us that the Bloodhulk and Grimlocks all need to make a DEX save or take additional damage for ending their turn still within 10-ft of the flock. If we're lucky, that may finish off more of the Grimlocks before our turn even starts.)
Because the creatures did not move away from the crows at the end of their turn they needs to make a DC 15 Dex Save or take 5 Slashing Damage. (Fadheela is out of range.)
The tall adventuress smiles briefly at Xanrym: "See? Just ask!" and, to avoid a repeat of the situation, goes to occupy the area in front of the entrance.
(OOC: I'm also assuming that Khessa's attack was able to push the Bloodhulk back.)
Round 2: Xanrym
Xanrym doesn't want to leave Khessa exposed to Fadheela without the benefit of a mirror, he drops his crossbow, picks up a mirror, and heads back into Fadheela's lair. He looks to Theldrin as he passes the wizard and says, "Ready?" Then he takes a deep breath, like someone about to plunge into cold water, and walks through the doorway. (He saw the room as a hidden cloud, and he peeked in briefly to cast his spell, but this is his first time really being in the room and exposed to the Bloodhulk and the Grimlocks and now Fadheela!)
Xanrym moves into the room an slides behind Khessa to end up just south of her. He figures that if Avery is able to come back to support Khessa, having one mirror to her north and one to her south should protect Khessa from Fadheela's horrible gaze. But that puts him close to the horrible medusa / yuan-ti hybrid! He tries to avoid looking at her face, staring instead at the awful, serpentine lower half of her body while positioning the mirror to face her.
Xanrym tries to repel her just to make it harder for her to do any more harm before the others can come to his and Coriana's help. He also hopes that driving Fadheela back may still save Coriana from petrification.
Then, beating a rhythm of inexorable doom on his drum, Xanrym summons magic into his words. Referring to Fadheela's earlier words, he says, "Evil ophidian abomination! You must be blind not to see your fate coming! You will die in this backwater!"
Movement: 25-ft of movement to take position behind the statue, between Khessaand Coriana, positioning the mirror to face Fadheela. Action: Cast spell (LVL 1 slot) Dissonant Whispers on Fadheela Fadheela must make a DC 17 WIS save or take 11 psychic damage and immediately use her reaction to safely move as far as her speed allows away from Xanrym. On a successful save: 5 psychic damage and no forced movement. Bonus Action: Use Unsettling Words against Fadheela. Fadheela must subtract 6 from the next saving throw it makes before the start of Xanrym's next turn. Free Action: Talking. Equipping the mirror.
Bardic Inspiration: Avery(since post #6360) Khessa(since post #6333) Corina(since post #6333)
Once within the next 1 hour, when the you fail a D20 Test, you can use the bardic inspiration to roll 1d8 and add the number rolled to the d20, possibly turning failure into a success. If you use the bardic inspiration, but the D20 Test still fails, you keep the inspiration die because of Xanrym's Unfailing Inspiration.
(OOC: @drumdigby - note that Xanrym cast his spell before using Unsettling Words, so it's just a regular DC 17 WIS save for that spell. The penalty to Fadheela's "next" saving throw would be for Theldrin's Blindness/Deafness spell.
Also, I'm not sure how large the statues in this room are, but Xanrym is trying to stand close to the one that's adjacent to him. That probably doesn't help him with Fadheela, but he's hoping that it gives him some cover from the Bloodhulk.)
Theldrin steps up to the entryway to the room and holds his mirror out at the corner before peeking around the side of it. Careful to look towards Fadheela's legs and feet and try to avoid her gaze, he targets her with his spell and attempts to blind her. He then hides around the corner again, still holding the mirror out where she can hopefully see it.
(OOC: No. Conjure Animals deal damage whenever they move within 10 feet of a creature on Syllen's turn. If they move 15 feet south they will hit Fadheela but the Bloodhulk is still 10 feet from the crows. Then they move 15 north Hitting the Grimlocks. The Bloodhulk is always within their range so it never procs the damage on Syllen's turn.)
"Well, shit. Gotta make this count, I guess," says Coriana as she feels the petrification setting in.
She casts lightning bolt at Fadheela, and moves her tentacles closer to her and has it attack the medusa as well.
[[Lightning bolt: 23 lightning Damage, DC 15 Dex for half. Tentacle: AC 23, 12 cold damage.]] [[Con save: (Luck point) DC 9, Heroic Inspiration: DC 19]]
Coriana feels motion return to her limbs as she shakes off the medusa's gaze, then closes her eyes, hoping not meeting the creature's visage will prevent future issues.
[[Taking voluntary blindness in hope of an advantage or immunity to gaze attacks.]]
