Norstaer secures the bandages on the stabilized rat, giving Snok a reassuring nod. Rising, he approaches the area where the second rat vanished. Moving quietly, he informs Snok, “I’ll check the other one,” his voice calm. He carefully surveys the cluttered space, alert for signs of the rat, ready to assess its condition.
Gently pulling the arrow from Gonzo Norestaer staunches the wound in the rats side quickly and effectively. The makeshift bandage seems to work rather well, binding the wound closed and stopping the blood from flowing almost immediately. The chest of the rat rises and falls slowly and shallowly as it continues to breathe with difficulty, but it is breathing. The wound doesn't appear to be fatal thanks to Norestaer's quick thinking.
Moving to where Rizzo vanished in amongst the boxes Norestaer kneels down and peers into a gap. There's a hiss from the animal as both he and the rat spot each other, and he can see the rat quivering in fear, closely surrounded by the crates.
Danny continues to run up the stairs to the middle deck of the ship, tears streaming down his face. As Lysander closes the door that separates the passenger cabins from the rest of the ship, Danny reaches the top of the stairs and runs across the open area of the deck towards the crew quarters, fists balled and face red.
Zero slowly moved near Norstaer, where the injuried rat hid itself, ignoring the one that was almost dead. He considered going for the hit, but after a short observation of how well the rat was hidden, he opted for a different plan.
"If they are as angry as Danny said... Maybe some food could calm it down?" he thought.
Zero, trying to look as little as a threat as he could, took some bread he had with him. The suspicious eyes of the rat followed every single movement he did, and widened when it noticed the food in Zero's hand.
"Bingo" he smiled at himself.
Zero threw the bread near the rat's location. It hesitated some more before it dashed out to steal the food and quickly return back to its hiding place, safe from Zero's reach.
"Hopefully, this will make them easier to tame." said out loud as a general consideration.
Noticing Danny's distressed state and having heard a little commotion below with my elven ears, I call out to Danny.
"Danny! What's wrong, buddy? Is there anything I can do to help?"
Startled by my voice and seeing the earnest look on my face, my words stop him in his tracts. I see his eyes dart between me and Kythaela, clouded by tears.

Startled by my voice and seeing the earnest look on my face, my words stop him in his tracts. I see his eyes dart between me and Kythaela, clouded by tears.
The halfling stops his headlong flight as Lysander shouts to him. His face turns from grief to anger. "They gone and killed Gonzo. I told 'em....I told 'em not to. I told 'em not to hurt 'em, but they gone and done it anyway. Killed Gonzo and hurt Rizzo. They ain't done no harm, they just got big, that's all, just big...and hungry. That's all, they were just hungry, and they killed Gonzo." He breaks down into floods of tears. "Them mice were my best pals." He makes to run off towards the crew quarters.
Hama peered through the gaps in the boxes, gripping her dagger as she watched. Seeing them give Rizzo a piece of bread, she relaxed slightly. It might have been just a reaction that caused Gonzo to get so bad hurt. Unfortunately seeing the bread caused her stomach to voice its protest loudly. She immediately covered her stomach and dropped back down behind the boxes.
I place a hand on his shoulder and give it a slight reassuring squeeze.
OOC: at the moment both Lysander and Kythaela haven't the first idea what Danny is talking about.
"Them!" the halfling almost spits. "Down there, in the hold. One o'them gone and shot Gonzo with an arrow. Didn't stand a chance, he didn't. Only wanted some food. Told 'em they was getting big, but they ain't dangerous. No, just big, and hungry, and them me only friends, and I don't know what to do. Captain ain't gonna be happy neither." He chokes back some tears. "Only wanted some help. What they have to kill Gonzo for. He was just hungry is all." The halfling rambles on like this, repeating himself several times, verging on being incoherent.
Even with their attention on Rizzo, who quickly devours the food given to him, Norestaer, Snok and Zero notice a low gurgling sound from behind one of the crates. It sounds very much like someones stomach rumbling!
The halfling stands there in silence for a good long moment, seemingly poised to keep heading towards the crew quarters. With a sniff and a nod he turns and wordlessly heads towards the stairs to the lower deck. Lysander and Kythaela follow on sharing a look and a shrug between them. Following Danny below, he leads you to the cargo hold where Norestear, Zero and Snok are. The unmoving body of Gonzo lies on the ground, fresh blood covering the wooden floor of the hold and the body of the giant rat bound in a scrap of cloth. A red stain is already beginning to seep through the improvised bandage, but it's clear everyone's attention is on an unexplored corner of the hold.
Oh... for the love of Hermes...Hama cursed internally as she gripped her abdomen as if that was going to muffle the sound. If she was found out, would they through her over board? She couldn't swim.... would they chain her up? Would they just kill her? ... would they eat her or feed her to the two giant rats that she saw as companions?
Her free hand gripped her shirt over her chest as she tried to keep her breathing quiet and steady. Her heart was trying to beat out of her chest. She couldn't pretend like she could just vanish into the boxes, regardless of how hard she might have tried. taking a breath and holding it, she finally bolted towards the other boxes further forward on the ship, keeping low to the floor and trying to be as light footed as possible.
Danny rushes to where Gonzo is lying and picks up the unconscious rat, cradling it in his arms. In between the sound of soft sobbing he asks, "Where's Rizzo?", then starts in surprise as Hama skitters across the floor. "Who's that!?"
Zero relaxed his muscles, sighing in relief. The rats problem seemed to be taken care of. For now at least. Not even the time to fully realize the battle was over and the sound of what seemed like a stomach growling filled the air. Were there other rats? Maybe those two had children? Something even worst?
He strenghed the grip on his lights word, ready to continue the battle if necessary. But before he could move to check the origin of the sound the a man entered the cabin and soon another woman appeared too.
'The man is one of the passengers. The girl must be a servant. As if we needed another problem to take care of now'.
Zero quickly hid his weapon and moved closer to the man, trying to steal his attention away from the rat. "Good morning sir, my lady. Pardon the insolence but I don't think you should be in this area, it's limited to the crew members only. If you got lost I could help you find your way back to your cabin."
He tried to sound as amiable as possible, but he was aware that his social skills were lacking at best. Well, even if the two new guys got angry at him, it would still be better than having them prying too much on the situation.
'Please just get out of here. We don't need more problems'
Hama jumped as a she heard her name, pushing her back to the boxes she frowned and brought her finger to her lips towards Lysander in an attempt to shush him. Her looked up to Lysander pleadingly. If she got caught...
Holding her breath as the man that had fed Rizzo approached Lysander. She tried to hide back in the boxes. Yes... good. Maybe if the attention was on the new comers and the rats they'd have forgotten about her stomach making noise.
Noting the tension in the cargo hold—with Danny's evident distress and the unexpected appearance of Hama—Norstaer sees an opportunity for discuss the situation. He gestures to Lysander, Kythaela, Snok and Zero, suggesting they step aside for a moment."We should gather everyone to discuss this," Norstaer proposes“I think that we need a group approach to address the rats, Danny’s reactions, and Hama’s sudden presence. It's vital to involve everyone to avoid further confusion or potential conflict."
He checks for agreement, and says. "Together, we can support Danny, decide on a strategy for the rats, and understand Hama’s situation, so we can manage these challenges as a group."

Kythaela opens her mouth for a moment, then closes it again, seemingly deciding to leave this whole "talking" thing to Lysander.

Seeing my friends in the aftermath of a small battle and both searching for a rat and tending to another, I'm rather surprised.
"What's going on here?"

I look her up and down and skillfully hide the concern on my face at her condition.
