Hello, everyone! You may call me Yalexis or Yale, and I'll be your Dungeon Master for this newbie-friendly D&D adventure set in the Sword Coast of the Forgotten Realms. This will be my first time DMing in the PbP platform, so please have patience with me. Anyone interested to join is welcome, be it experienced or new players. I will be active randomly during 8am Est and 10pm Est (almost every day). And as the title suggests, I'm only looking for 4 players. I've already recruited a friend to join the adventure and they'll be playing a Goliath Barbarian. Once you've been chosen, I will send a private message with a campaign link and I will provide content sharing. The Maps tool will be implemented as well.

Allowed sources for character creation will be Basic Rules, Player's Handbook, Dungeon Master's Guide, and Xanathar's Guide to Everything (this affects races, classes, subclasses, and backgrounds).

I will allow the Optional Features.
Milestone based level up (more details once you have been chosen).
Coin weight won't be ignored for encumbrance.

Make sure to fill the Description section of your character for me to view.
Post character sheet links (set them to public view) in this forum, along with a description (as brief as you'd like) of your characters. You may also share your experiences with PbP (the good and the bad) and what you enjoy most of your D&D games (combat heavy, roleplay heavy, or balanced) for future reference.
What follows is a bit of a book. I'll sumerize as a courtesy.
Nigel is a scribe wizard who wishes to make a name for himself on the scale of Tasha, Fitzban, or Mordenkeinen. He works as a traveling scribe to pay for his research. Read on for the full story.
(Also I don't usually post this much so don't worry.)
Nigel grew up in (insert agricultural area), a small farming community located near (insert well renowned library or wizard College or monastery). His father tended the orchards, and his mother was a housekeeper. They lived in a small parsonage on the property edge. Nigel was a sickly boy. Always suffering from one maladity or another. This served him better than one would expect. Not only did it strengthen his constitution thru the constant exposure to various illnesses, but it also gave him time to read and study. During those times when Nigel wasn't afflicted by some random bug, he would play in the orchards and surrounding farmlands. His favorite pastime was to collect the polished and smoothed stones from a nearby creekbed. His second favorite game was to throw those rocks at rotting fruit and any pests that were eating the harvest. To this day, Nigel loves to polish and smooth stones. He keeps a pouch full on his person at all times. As he grew older Nigel would often climb to a perch next to an open window at the (library, college, monastery) where he could listen to the resident (teachers, wizards, clerics) give lectures and debate intellectual matters. In spite of being repeatedly scolded and beaten by the grounds keepers, he would find new and better ways to eavesdrop on the inner goings on. A quest for knowledge had been ignited in him that wouldn't be denied. Sometime during Nigel's tween years, he was caught sneaking back a book he had stolen. The book was in rough shape due to an accidental dunk in the creek. During a tear filled disciplinary discussion, he revealed he couldn't read the book and only took it because he wanted to see what was inside. Out of respect for the years of service Nigels parents had provided, the (head wizard, monks, patron) decided as a punishment and as reparation for the damaged tome, Nigel would serve as page. His duties included keeping the inkwells filled, parchments stocked, quills sharp and fetching volumes upon volumes of tomes for the scholars in residence. As time went on Nigel was taught not only to read but write as well. His responsibilities expanded to copying texts and scribbling out titles and deeds of contract. In his spare time Nigels nose was buried in a book. The more he grew the more he toiled at his chores and the more he learned. The more he learned from the arcane tomes he would sneak peeks at, the more the magical weave began to reveal itself. The gears of life grind on and so it was for Nigel. As a young man barely out of his teens, Nigel made the decision that there was a vast world of knowledge to be discovered and recorded. And so Nigel began his journey, traveling from town to town selling his skills as a scribe. All the while continuing his study of the mystical and magical. His specifically wishes to focus on recording the myriad of creatures roaming the realm.
Name: Drako Blitz Race: Dragonborn (Bronze) Class: Cleric, Tempest Domain Background: Guild Artisan Sheet:https://www.dndbeyond.com/characters/119139013/bD4IWJ Starting Equipment: standard (request: reflavor the Warhammer as a Flail) Backstory: Drako was raised in a guild family and became a blacksmith like his father before him. He enjoyed seeing the fruits of his craft, how he could aid people with their needs whether it be with mending a broken plow, new horseshoes, or even a weapon. But as much as he found joy in his labors, something was missing so he spent time thinking and meditating. After one particularly violent storm, he believed he found his calling. The destruction it wrought was unconscionable to him and he sought to find ways to entreat the gods to stay such forces. That same drive to help others now brings him to the party's quest and to go on the adventure. Character Image: see spoiler
Experience with PBP:
The Good: I've had some pleasant PBPs here. One was a homebrew campaign in a post-apocalyptic setting that was fun. Good party, good DM. Some interesting combats and coming across fun NPCs. Another case with a barbarian tribe and fun party dynamics. Another that was Most Potent Brew with exploring a wizard's tower. Even had one that was pure combat (take a character, get some nice magic items, fight a monster alone. Fore example a lone lv4 PC against a CR 6 creature.) Favorite moment there was a polar bear jumping off a wall to get at my PC and murder him. (Laughed quite hard at that.) I've also got some currently in progress that are enjoyable. Multiple experiences has also given me more tastes of what's good with PBP. I like combat, but when a nice party dynamic forms it can be fun to have little RP stuff between characters. (Bonus with RP in PBP is being able to have some back-and-forth not dependent on DM availability.) I've also become a fan of group initiative used by one of my current DMs too as a nice way of helping with some of the slowdown from combat.
The Bad: I find a lot of PBPs die. So when I'm in one, I'm also preparing that it will end soon. But overall I'm patient. So if I know there's still a desire to continue things, I can wait if IRL gets busy for example.
What I Enjoy from D&D games: I do like combat. It's where the bulk of the rules are, so when thinking of how to make a character or things to do, it's naturally where a focus will go. But RP can definitely be nice too. I would not be inclined towards an RP as the main focus for a campaign, whereas I'd still be happy in a combat-only campaign. But I also enjoy balanced ones, particularly if there's shenanigans.
Hello, I'm interested in your campaign so please refer to my character concept with links below... PbP Preferences: I prefer roleplay heavy but I'm more than happy with something balanced and in the middle as I don't care much for combat heavy that just moves from one combat encounter after the next with nothing much in between.
Appearance: Willow Fitzroy is a young woman of undeniable radiance, reflecting the visage of one who has been touched by divinity. Her pale blue eyes, framed by the glow of golden-blonde hair, hold the tranquility of a secluded lake at dawn. Each lock of her hair is meticulously twisted into braids that hang with a weight suggesting both her burdens and her strength. Willow is petite in stature with her frame slight yet poised and her skin is reminiscent of alabaster offering a stark contrast to the dark backdrop of her existence—a beacon amidst shadows. Her attire speaks of hermetic elegance—a gown of celestial blue, hemmed with whispers of silver and adorned with golden filigree that reflects her divine connection. The sleeves, light and airy, suggest her freedom from worldly ties, while her bodice is cinched by a belt festooned with golden medallions, each one a testament to her devotion and service. At the cusp of womanhood, she embodies both the purity of youth and the wisdom bestowed upon her by the goddess Selûne. Her appearance is not just a sight to behold but a narrative of her life so far; the serenity of her expression mirrors the peaceful seclusion of her past, while the careful composition of her attire—a blend of practicality and otherworldly beauty—hints at the healer's path she has chosen to follow.
Backstory: During her formative years, Willow Fitzroy found solace within the secluded cloisters of the Sisterhood of the Silver Ladies, a devout enclave devoted to the goddess Selûne. This sanctuary, veiled from the clamor of worldly affairs, provided a tranquil retreat where Willow could immerse herself in the divine arts of healing and herbalism. The convent, nestled in a forgotten vale bathed by moonlight, was a place of quiet reflection and spiritual communion.
The Sisterhood itself was founded as a harmonious sanctuary meant to unify the diverse factions of Selûne’s followers. It particularly emphasized the Moonmaiden’s guardianship over women, positioning itself as a bastion for the vulnerable and the oppressed. Members of this cloistered order were exclusively women, each dedicating her life to a sacred role—be it as healers who mended wounds with whispered prayers, midwives who ushered new life under the watchful eyes of the moon, defenders against the dark curses of lycanthropy, or seers who divined the weft and weave of fate.
In this consecrated place, shielded by ancient magic and the blessings of the Moonmaiden, Willow’s powers first stirred and blossomed. Her days were marked by meditative walks through sacred groves, the study of ancient texts under the soft glow of moonstones, and the practice of rites that wove her deeper into the fabric of her faith. The Silver Ladies, each a guardian of ancient wisdom and feminine strength, guided Willow in harnessing her divine gifts—gifts that were destined to reach beyond the convent’s serene walls.
Hi! I’m a 1st time DnD player but with decent knowledge about the format, lore and rules (also have played a LOT of BG3 and DnD style video games). Really friendly guy with limited time so thought the play-by-post would be the perfect format to get some actual experience :)
Deep Gnome Druid (circle of spore) with Sage background. His name is Magnus, 25 y/o, 3’6”, with dark gray/blue skin, long straight white hair and luminescent teal eyes. He will have the sage background, as far as backstory: He was left stranded and hurt (for reasons he cannot remember) at a very young age in the Underdark. A Myconid colony found him, healed him and raised/taught him their ways. He absorbed and craved all sorts of knowledge, being naturally gifted in magic helped a lot as well and developed on his spell craft with the archdruids of said colony (hence becoming a circle of spore druid). This expanding thirst for knowledge led him to the outside world for truth and adventure!

I just wanted to say I like your owl familiar Archamedies, my character doesn't have a familiar per se but if she is accepted I'm hoping to talk the DM into letting her have an Awakened Shrub named Herb following her about without any control, etc. If not no biggie but I'm the type the that enjoys familiars and animal companions, etc. ;)
