update ** Only one more player required *** The outlaw leader Nurgal and his cut throat orc and goblin bandits have been causing hell to the trade routes in the wilderness near Penderham. You have tracked them down to a ruined snake cults temple that was destroyed in Albion's crusade against evil a hundred years ago. The dungeon entrances had been caved in but you think this gang have reopened it and are using it for their own base of operations. Lord Pender and Von Gelt the wealthy merchant master from nearby Penderham have offered 400 gold pieces for the head of Nurgal. What treasures, evil or magic may have been left in the dungeons?
This is a one shot dungeon crawl written by myself. The dungeon is for 4-6 level one characters using 1st edition basic edition rules for D&D as used in the late 70s and early 80s. The classes are Fighter, Cleric, Magic User, Thief, Dwarf, Elf or Halfling. The rules are simple and suitable for beginners and veterans alike. I will help anyone unfamiliar with the rules and give tips wherever possible.
The game would be best played by players in roughly the same timezone preferably around GMT+0 - however if I get enough response from the US or other very different time zones I can make a separate group and play the game to two teams of players.
Players need to commit to making at least a few posts a day most days if possible - to keep the game moving. DM me if interested and let me know your time zone. https://discord.gg/DKfKBf7t
Painfully tempting! I cut my teeth on the Basic Edition "Red Box" and haven't played it for almost three and a half decades. I'm GMT -5 and work overnights, so I'm about the worst possible fit in terms time-zone, but best of luck with your recruitment!
I am quite interested in this because I was always curious about how the rules and mechanics or early DnD worked. My knowledge of that is very limited as I've never played the game before. The closest thing to 1E dnd I played was that Sega Genesis game "Warriors of the Eternal Sun". My Time zone is GMT +6 but I think I can manage a few posts daily.
I am going to need someone to teach me how to play though.
Go for it! THAC0 is a bit counter-intuitive and the saving throw charts can be intimidating at first but, once you've gone through a battle or two, it really does start to make sense. I'm sure the DM wouldn't have posted something like this if they weren't willing to help coach someone new to the system. Just remember, the lethality on the earlier editions was high so go in expecting a TPK and anything less than that will feel like a win😉
