"I suppose you can't be too picky when you want to set up your secret sinister death cult, but we should definitely have a word with them about their choice of venue."
"Maybe we'll get lucky and they'll all be dead of filth fever," Kit responds, her nose wrinkling on obvious disgust.
"We're going to have to walk through that aren't we? How deep does it get?"
She leaves her sword in its sheath for the time being but readies her shield.
"You will all have to walk through it. I am at least able to walk on it. Or if the walls our path, I can grip on to them with my claws and crawl above the water." (climb speed) "I can send Lance first if people wish to see how deep it is. He doesn't need to breathe so can walk along the bottom. Hopefully he doesn't get fully submerged but if he does, I will have a bunch of cleaning to do." If no one objects or proposes an alternative, she sends Lance (medium creature, looking at the medium beasts, could be anywhere from Mastiff to a black bear. However big it actually is, is large enough for Tabitha as a small creature to ride on) walking along the floor through the water. Unlike a familiar, she can't do anything about seeing through it so if it leaves her sight, there is no knowing what is happening so she also instructs it to no turn corners until we all approach.
Ketangu finds the heat and dampness rather comforting as it reminds him of a sauna. Though he is repulsed by the murky waters. He gestures at what might be a crawlspace. "I believe there is something beyond that rubble and beware some creature stirs in the water. I can see faint ripples."
He will then begin clearing the rubble blocking the crawl space. "Can anyone help me clear this debris?"
"I'm not sure I would do that," Kit interjects while peering into the water to see if she can spot whatever Ketangu is talking about, "if there is a cult down here I doubt they close the door by collapsing a wall behind them."
(Perception check to try and spot the creature/s in the water: 19)

"Well, you know, these death cultists can be quite impractical about their hidden lairs, even if it's a bit time consuming to collapse and rebuild an entrance each time you use it." The dark-haired young man comments with a grin as he too is curious to see if he can spot what creates the ripples on the sewage water surface.
"Well Kit, it seems Kevori's..."The dark-haired young man inclines his head towards the woman at his side. "...late brother came into possession of a compass of sorts that we believe is taking us to the morbid cult's hidden temple, but I'm starting to wonder if it is simply giving us directions to the absolutely filthiest place in all of Neverwinter." He finishes with a grin.
Erven stops and rustles around in his pack for a moment, then brings out a 1 foot long rod. He looks at it and says “Parf Edhellen” and suddenly the magical pole starts to lengthen, getting bigger to 10 feet. He uses the pole to prod around in the area of the bubbles, saying “Get ready, let’s handle this now, instead of sinking and getting attacked.” With his other hand, he puts it on his trusty shortsword, readying himself to attack whatever appears.

A wizard is never late, nor is he early, he arrives precisely when he means to.
((Anyone with a passive perception or perception check of 15 or higher notices the odd ripples and eddies farther back in the submerged portion of the tunnel. Also, it's important to note while the green flame does give off light, the chamber is considered dimly lit))
At Jack's question about the cultists, Kevori shakes her head and says, "I- I don't know much about them. My brother and I have been looking for them for a few weeks now without any luck." She shivers as her mind plays back the murder of her brother. "We spent today asking questions of the locals to see what they knew, but we must have asked the wrong kind of people. Some of the cultists ambushed us, and then- then.." She trails off, tears threatening to fall from her olive eyes.
Ketangu manages to clear some of the rubble away, but the low tunnel in the corner is still mostly blocked off.
Thoroughly inspecting the small room, Khessa isn't able to find anything that resembles another passage. Apparently, wading through some sewage doesn't bother cultists too much. Who knew, right?
Cautiously yet with unwavering obedience to Tabitha's command, Lance starts wading through the brackish water towards the strange ripple further along in the pool. Thankfully, the water only seems to be about 3 feet deep, yet its murky surface obscures sight of the floor. All is silent save for the sound of your breath and the beathing of your heart as Tabitha's construct wades onward After Lance creeps along for about 30, the water in the tunnel suddenly explodes into motion. You see a torrent of water slam into Lance with surprising force, though the automaton doesn't seem to be bothered by the attack. You see a figure rise from the tainted water, and it raises an accusatory finger towards the group on the shore. "Intruders!" it cries in a watery voice that seems to reverberate all through the water. "I will claim your flesh for the Undying One!"

"I'm sorry Kevori, let's just move on and see what we'll find." The dark-haired young man says with a compassionate tone, briefly laying an empathic hand on the sister's arm.
"Yes, this undying one seems popular around here." Jack comments with a grin, being only mildly surprised about the surfacing of the pompous watery menace as the talking glob already had warned them.
((Will go ahead and post, assuming Erven’s going first.))
Erven quickly tosses his pole to the dry portion of the room and moves up to 45 feet, stepping forward to the Water Weird, pulling out his shortsword of warning as he does so. He quickly strikes at the thing. “Let’s surround it! Whatever the hell it is..”
Shortsword of warning swing 1 : 14 to hit, for 10 points of piercing damage.
Due to his Dread Ambusher skill, he can attack a second time on this first round, he swings again at the thing.
Shortsword of warning swing 2 : 21 to hit, for 11 points of piercing damage, and an additional 7 points of piercing damage due to this skill.
Dread Ambusher
At 3rd level, you master the art of the ambush. You can give yourself a bonus to your initiative rolls equal to your Wisdom modifier.
At the start of your first turn of each combat, your walking speed increases by 10 feet, which lasts until the end of that turn. If you take the Attack action on that turn, you can make one additional weapon attack as part of that action. If that attack hits, the target takes an extra 1d8 damage of the weapon’s damage type.

As the wood elf prods at the water with his pole and the construct wades in deeper than her own waist, Kit's disgust visibly grows and she begins to question the life choices that brought her here.
When the creature appears it's almost a relief. At least the experience wouldn't be for nothing...

She casts the dark-haired man an appreciative smirk and then turns back to the water.
"Actually, that doesn't make too much less sense than walking through this. What makes you all so sure there's a cult down here?"
"It's Kit, by the way."

Khessa, who had already alluded to the possibility that there was a secret passage - or at least something that the party had missed - begins to actively look for it... she tries to examine the walls, looking for cracks that could suggest a door, or movable parts that can act as levers or buttons, possibly even trying to tap some sections lightly with the pommel of her greatsword, to check if some sound hollower than the other...
