"Did you catch that, Urokris?" Quarion whispered, his eyes fixed on the lizard-rider and their group. "I couldn't understand the words but from the tone I'm guessing they, uh, want to kill us?"
"The opposite," he whispered back, taking a moment to glance at him, "they seem somewhat wary of us. A name was mentioned. Langdedrosa. Ring any bells?"

"They're coming this way." Sensing a threat greater than mere kobolds, Skiaceq retreats down the alley the party last passed and motions for everyone to follow. "Hurry," he hisses urgently, poking his head out to get a better look at the airborne figure.
Nice insight check. Most likely this general did not approve of the Kobolds retreat, and was barely convinced to leave him alive, much less send enough troops to take out this fearsome dragonborn warrior and his army of flying monks. Still, they mean business.
He crouches low trying to remain stealthy, his chainmail rattling and the overlapping pieces of his pauldrons knocking against each other, his hand slightly pulling the sword out of its sheath about an inch or so. "Curious," he says, wincing at the noise he's making. "They seem to be working for him, or at least that's what I'm assuming." He paused for a moment, "Should we try and find out who he is?" Interrogating one of the kobolds might help, especially since there was only two of them compared to their numbers.
OOC: Since Urokris was rolling at disadvantage for heavy armor, I assume advantage just cancels that out and he can use his original 9 (+2 = 11) instead of the 2?

Everyone manages to remain quiet as the strike team passes, bickering amongst themselves, and oblivious to the world. Soon they disappear into the distance.
Skiaceq grimaces, stomaching panic that Urokris remained in the path of the approaching kobold leaders. He remains concealed in the alleyway, but tenses himself to leap into action if the Dragonborn risks coming to harm.
”Not normal kobold,” he whispers. “Might be dangerous.” He struggles internally for a moment, then tribbles, the Aarakocran equivalent of a sigh. This raid looked sudden. The Greenest leadership was unlikely to know much more than present company. “Very well. We reach the keep not emptyhanded.” He looked to the others for acknowledgement.
"Aye," he said with a nod, "I agree. Trying to get to one of them with those numbers would have just drawn more unneeded attention towards us. Shall we, then?" He stands when the kobolds are gone and starts making his way forward, cautiously.

As you inch your way forward, you can see the way the the keep. It is set on top of a hill in the center of Greenest, it's high stone walls capable of keeping out all but the most determined foes. The sky darkens some as moon passes behind the guard tower which protrudes up from it, but your destination is lit by the torches at the keeps gate and the everpresent fires consuming the city. The former, at least, hold hope. There is still time to reach safety.
Following the road with your eyes, you see in the distance the shadows of the front line, falling slowly toward the safety of the keep. The city guard seems to be fighting for time, letting more citizens reach the keep. The stragglers, for their part, seem to avoid the fighting, sneaking around the buildings on either side and scurrying up the hill.
To the left (north) of you, you see a group of 2 robed figures and 5 kobolds making their way carefully across the steep terrain of the hill.. They seem to be sneaking around to flank the guards falling back to the keep. The troops manning the portcullis, a handful of soldiers and a dwarf in heavy armor, seem unaware of the second groups approach.
Urokris taps both Darvin and Skiaceq on the shoulders and points to the figures. "I don't like the look of that," he says, "they're about to flank the guards, which I doubt will bode well for them, I say we intercept, hey?"
Skiaceq nods in agreement. This fight seems advantageous with the support of the guard. “Alert the guard, then attack from behind,” he chirps.
Seeing the kobolds close in on the unaware soldiers causes Skiaceq a sense of dread. He doesn’t want to see anymore of the slaughter he passed in his journey to Greenest.
"As long as you two take the front, I'm game," says Quarion. "How do you propose we alert the guard without giving up the element of surprise?" he continued. "If I can isolate a group of the smaller ones from the guards, I may be able to knock them out for (and with) a spell and give us and the guards a chance to focus our attention on the others. May be tactically advantageous. Unfortunately if they get too close to the guards I can't guarantee that my magic won't affect them as well. It's not the most... precise instrument."

Oh, this check is made with advantage for the group. Skiaceq and Quarion passed their checks outright. Urokris can reroll.
