After shushing the boy, the girl turns to you and says, "There’s a monster in our house!” She then points to a tall brick row house that has seen better days. Its windows are dark. It has a gated portico on the ground floor, and the rusty gate is slightly ajar. The houses on either side are abandoned, their windows and doors boarded up.
Hearing about a monster in the house, Milamber looks at his companions. "Perhaps we should check on what kind of boogey man these children have in their house. I am sure their house is safer than this street."

"Children, is anybody else inside the house with the monster?" Tengen pauses only long enough for the children to answer before heading closer to the house looking to help as quickly as possible if necessary.

Arkanon walks back, his jaws set tightly and notices the girl pointing towards a building, the uneasy feeling building up as he notices the girl pointing towards a building. "Tavern's closed," he says, "and I'm starting to think we're being guided like blind mules to our deaths. First the fog, then the merchants disappearing, and now this desolated village. I don't like it. And I'm starting to like the building they're pointing at even less." He looks down at the children, his eyes narrowing.

"If there is a young child trapped in there we need to save him or clear the house to allow the children a safe place to refuge in. Either way we should check it out."
Striding to the door, Milamber puts his ear to it to listen for any sounds inside. (perception: 7 )

Rosa quickly says, "Don't worry, I'll get him out," then strides to the door, ignoring Milamber as he draws his sword from it's sheath. He says, "Move Milamber," and opens the door. If it's locked, he'll kick it in.
Arkanon watched as the two made their way towards the building, his lips pressed tight then turned to his retainer. "Eron, stay here with the children and make sure they don't go anywhere," and with that he pulled his blade out and walked towards the building, edging his way past Milamber. "I advise caution, Rosa. As much as I admire your tenacity, I'd much rather have you at my side fighting instead of injured from a preventable mistake."

Milamber strides first to the house, meeting a wrought-iron gate with hinges on one side and a lock on the other. This leads to a stone portico and it's clear that the gate is open. Grasping it and pulling out, the rusty hinges let loose a shriek that pierces through the otherwise still air. At the sound, the two children shy away from the direction of the house. After a moment or two, Milamber moves to the door, placing an ear against the polished oaken doors. A heavy-looking oil lamp hangs from a wrought chain overhead. However, it doesn't take but a moment of Milamber's ear hitting the door before Rosa comes up behind quickly, grasping the gleaming brass handle, throwing the door open.
The doors swing inside silently, revealing a dark foyer. However, in the light you can make out a shield featuring a stylized golden windmill on a red field. Alongside this shield are portraits of stony-faced aristocrats. Fifteen feet across from the outside door is a set of mahogany-framed double doors, set with darkened panes of colored glass.
Entering the room Milamber looks around and looks at the shield, Unsure if he recognizes the crest emblazoned on it's front he walks closer to it to examine it and see if it would jog his memory.

Anyone that views the shield finds that they are unfamiliar with the heraldry. That said, even in the shadowy light, it would appear that the portraits and shield are clean of any dust or decay. The wooden paneling on the walls are well oiled, as are the floorboards. Aside from the dark lighting, it's as if the tenants are expecting company.
Hoping nobody noticed him enter the room last, Muirdan strides confidently into the room. He notices Milamber's brow furrows, and says "Look familar, does it? Let Dumathoin guide ye memories."
Rosa doesn't pause at the shield, but he slows down slightly at Arkanon's words. He tells the others, “Forget about the shield, we're in here for the child, come on. Then Rosa heads towards the glass doors, opening them to see inside.
Arkanon raises his shield and stops just behind Rosa, his eyes going bright white as he once more casts divine sense to try and see if there's anything fiendish or otherwise in the room.
As Rosa opens the door, he is able to see into the next room, thanks only to his darkvision. For those with the ability to see in the dark, you can see the sweeping room beyond. The ceiling is about ten feet overhead and this space seems to run the full width of the house. A dark marble fireplace sits to your left, while a sweeping marble staircase sits at the other end. You can see the pommel of a longsword that stands mounted over the fireplace.
The walls are covered with sculpted wood panels, featureing vines, flowers, nymphs, and satyrs.
You can see three separate doors across the hall from you, some fifteen to twenty feet away. To your right is another door, on the same wall as the doors you just opened.

Rosa, silent now, motions everyone at the stairs, then holds up three fingers for the third floor. He slowly moves into the room, headed for the staircase upwards.

When you get to the tavern, you see that it is locked up tightly, shutters closed, not even the glimmer of a candle seeping out through the seams.
