Grythek and Rosa combine their efforts and manage to quarter the creature where it stands. The body pauses for a moment before collapsing into four massive chunks on the floor.
Milamber stands there looking at the scene and lets out a low growl. "This place is really getting to me. Can we finish looking around and then get out of here."

Inside the chest is still a folded up cloak that seems to have weathered the test of time far better than any other cloth you've found thus far (and Tengen knows it radiates magic), a small wooden coffer, a gleaming silver chain shirt, a mess kit, a flask of an orangey-red liquid, a bullseye lantern, a set of metal lockpicks in a leather pack, and a yellow leather covered book. As you pick them up, nothing further jumps out of the walls at you.
This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
If the chest is unlocked, Rosa will step away from the group just in case and open it. If it is locked, Rosa will still step away from the group in case, and try to pry it open.
Preoccupied with the book Tengen doesn't really look up, just to say "I don't know really, I just know it is magical. Why don't you try it on and we can see what happens." As she says this she winks at the ranger "It probably won't hurt".
@DM - Detect Magic should give a sense of the type of magic used if possible.

"Wait! I mean I don't think it's dangerous but you could, oh well you;ve done it now..." Tengen looks at Grythek curiously, before adding. "So... how do you feel, stronger, faster, better protected, about to burst into flame?"

The book appears to be a book full of spells! Though without some careful study, it's hard to say what spells they are.
The cloak radiates abjuration magic, now that you have a moment to focus on it. Grythek, as you put it on, you don't feel anything right away. Perhaps if you took some more time with it you would feel its effects.
Loot Information:
I'm not sure how best to handle this moving forward, as the potential for cursed items is certainly there. At a table, you'd have to spend the time to attune to something to learn about it. We'll figure out something as we go along I suppose! :) For right now, I'll just dump everything here and we'll go from there.
Rosa opens the box and four red bottles are presented. He may have grown up in a small town, but even he knows what healing potions look like. He’ll take one, and offer the other three to whoever wants one.
Tengen continues to look through the book and absentmindedly replies "No, thank you though, I think those who can't heal themselves should have the potions."
OOC Tengen can't use the book now but after level 3 will be able to use Identify from it, which may be useful so she'll hang on to it.

If no one takes the potions, Rosa puts them in his bag for later. “We can look at all of this later, but for now we should finish up with this damned house and burn it to the ground.”

Combat over!

"I agree, but we need to find the resting place of those kids. I guess that will end.. this.. whatever it is.. " Grythek says panting.
" I think we overpassed a few doors in our way here, let's go track down our steps and make sure that we see it all. "
He says while endong inspecting the interior of the chest.

Muirdan stands up and pokes the body of the creature that felled him. "The sooner we get out of here, the better."

Rosa picks up the wooden coffer and looks to see if it is unlocked.
"The only item that is magical in nature is the cloak, although I'm sure that potion does something too".
She says all this whilst reaching out for the book and then begins looking through it, seeing what type of book it is.

(nevermind)
Grythek will look at the cloak and examine it.
"Magical you say? And what it does? " he asks curious about it.

Not knowing much about magic, Grythek just srughs and does as Tengen said. He takes out his cloak and put the one they found at the chest.
( And now... he dies XD )

Wow! a cloak of protection! Nice! anyone wants it? I guess we all can benefit from it but Grythek will pass it to anyone without problem!

Muirdan tosses his hammer back and forth from hand to hand, trying not to let his nerves show.
Muirdan will defer on the cloak (and everything else) -- he is happy in his armor.

With the cloak around his neck Grythek nods.
"So do we backtrack our steps and look in that doors we left in the hall way behind? Or do we go trought that door?"
( Because if I recall correctly we had a door at our backs and two in the corridor we came from)
