"In that case," Eithne muses aloud "considering that Jesa was the one connected to the mimir, perhaps it would be best to divide the tasks... I could connect to the mimir in her place and do... what we came to do, while people... more talkative than me could look for someone who can bring our companion back to life."
"I already have so many souls of loved ones in my head..." the Lone Survivor concludes in a sibylline and sad tone. "I wouldn't like to find one more inside..."
'You mean you don't appreciate our company, Eithne!?' the Voices in her head rise up. 'With all the help we always give you!' 'You are our bastion, our hope, and you...' 'No!' the Savage Wanderer replies with her thought. 'That's not the point! But Jesa doesn't deserve this, and... I was also thinking about your privacy. I don't know if you would appreciate the entrance of a stranger...'
(Yes, there are only 4 items in total. But you're also getting a fair amount of gold, and we will catch up with Culiril soon. :) Once someone attunes to the mimir and makes the recording [don't forget to do that!] let me know where y'all wanna go next! Still to do:Curst, Excelsior, Faunel, Glorium, and Sylvania.)
(Missed Eithne's last post where he was volunteering to handle the mimir. And I fully agree with his suggestion of looking for someone to bring Jesa back!)
“If you wish to take on that responsibility I would gladly let you have it. Before we go in search of aid it might be best to see what Kalar knows.”
Having spent some time studying the rites of the Goddess of the Harvest Rogferr would walk over to Kalar.
(OOC: I assume that it has been less than a minute so the spell gentle repose would still be affective. If I am wrong ignore the following question.)
“I imagine you have lost much in this war. We also lost one of our own in this fight. We have a cleric that can revive her yet not the time or remaining power. Do you know of any clerics in the vicinity that can slow the decay of the body? In my time studying the rites of clerics I remember them having the ability to slow down the body's decaying process.”
Eithne approaches the mimir and patiently begins to try to bond with it, while each of the Voices in her head is keen to offer their opinion on the initiative: 'Be careful, Eithne! That strange creature could have side effects...' 'It's not even natural...' 'But you did well to try to move things forward... so we can soon leave this kind of permanent barracks...'
The Savage Wanderer feels strangely relaxed, now that everything has come to an end (at least for now, at least here). She takes out a pomegranate and begins to eat it slowly, cutting it and tasting the seeds one by one under her teeth, breaking them and sucking out the strong, peculiar-tasting juice.
Once the attunement is complete and the mimir asks her what she thinks of this place, the Lone Survivor replies: "Rigus is like a gigantic permanent military camp, where everything seems ordered, organized, and regulated for the purposes of war—either for defense or for conquest. Those who seek war and battle probably see it as a paradise. Those who would appreciate peace more... probably like it much less. In fact, I wonder what Rigus would become if one day it found itself at peace, with no external threats to face and no external prey to covet... personally, I hypothesize that at that point internal conflicts would begin, so as to continue to provide a reason to exist for this blind and pervasive militarization."
Major Kalar looks off a ways for a moment. "We do have some medics capable of healing more serious wounds, although most who fall here gladly do so. We not often keep the fallen in a suspended state, but instead prepare to memorialize them. Your comrade fell in battle, that is honorable to us. I can see if they have the capability to preserve their body, but as I am not one gifted in such ways I cannot tell you for certain if they will be able to do so. It will take me some small amount of time to talk to them if you wish."
Meanwhile, when the attunement is done, the mimir whirs and beeps as Eithne records her impressions of Acherus. "Fight, fight, fight! That's right! Might makes right! Or at least alive! I'm not sure I'll ever understand the desire to get oneself killed this way but what do I know, I'm just a floating mechanical head, I don't have the stomach for such things. Ha!" (Recording complete!)
Eithne finds herself smiling at the mimir: "You know what? The desire to get oneself killed this way is completely incomprehensible even to me... Maybe it's because I've already seen too many deaths - and I carry too many dead souls in my mind to keep me company."
Kalar would go and find a cleric or similar if you wish, but by the time they return, they wouldn't be able to preserve Jessa's body, not necessarily because the body wouldn't be viable, although that might be true as well, but because it simply isn't there. In that interim, Jessa's body vanishes.
Eithne raises a questioning eyebrow when, having completed her task, she discovers that her companion's body has disappeared and that no one knows what happened to her: "A phenomenon that's still inexplicable—I'll add it to the unfortunately already long list of others I've witnessed. I certainly didn't know her long, but she seemed like a good person—she was the first to welcome us and take care of us, when we awoke just outside Automata without fully remembering how we got there. Human lives are already as short as a breath; I think poor Jesa deserved more."
"But things are as they are, not as we wish them to be" the Lone Survivor sighs. "I know that all too well—or my tribe wouldn't have been exterminated. Perhaps, in honor of Jesa, we should continue her mission. Shall we head to Sylvania? From the name, I hope it's a better place than this..."
Eithne had been so astonished by the apparent 'disappearance' of Jesa's body that she hadn't considered the possibility of finding her. She had already catalogued the phenomenon among the 'unpleasant but inexplicable events'.
When Faith suggests a search, the Savage Wanderer admits: "It doesn't seem to me that a disappearance of this kind could have mundane causes... So abrupt... And with no apparent reason... I fear that magic is involved—and that therefore only magic could possibly help us find the remains of our late heroine. If we were to stop here in Rigus for a day... do you think you could aid the search with a divination, Faith?"
Faith shakes her head sadly, "The only spell I know just lets me know if a planned action will have good or bad results in the next 30 minutes. But I can pray for more help..."
[[OOC: She doesn't have divination now, but will if we level up. And I think the DM said to level up... ]]
Eithne's azure eyes mingle with compassion and serene admiration - It's clear that the priestess's determination to leave no stone unturned is touching her... even if it's equally clear that she fears, deep down, that it will be a futile attempt: "In that case, go ahead and pray for more help... I don't think we can find a body that seems to have vanished in a flash on our own."
The Lone Survivor also consults her other adventure companions: "Do you have any better ideas about trying to find Jesa's body? Or do we simply wait to see if Faith can guide our search?"

(Who was attuned to the mimir in the last city? I was assuming it would be the same character. If they dropped, then Faith can attune to the Mimir.)
(It was Jesa that had the mimir - the one that is now dead! And yes, I'm still here for whenever the time comes to get back.)
Rabbit Sebrica, Sorcerer || Skarai, Monk || Lokilia Vaelphin, Druid || Britari / Halila Talgeta / Jesa Gumovi || Neital Rhessil, Wizard || Iromae Quinaea, Cleric

Maybe we are waiting to know how the 'preservation' + resurrection of Jesa goes, here?
Given the time needed to attune to the mimir, the others should have found out by now if a cleric in Rigus can help us...

Faith exclaimed out loud, "Where did she go? If she was taken why were such valuable items left behind?"
