Utar calls back to Krulek, "I could say the same to you, how many have you put down?!"
Closing his eyes for a moment, Utar dips a hand into a pouch and releases a pinch of Biscuit's fur onto the wind. It holds for a moment, then drifts away, seeking it's target.
He opens his eyes, suddenly focused on a specific point. "She's there, Sahnd."
Move: To U,49
Action: Cast locate creature attempting to close in on Jeralla.
Raist continues to pepper enemies from up high with his Fire Bolt, hitting one of the kobolts advancing on Neya. (Kobold Shieldbearer #0 takes 24 fire damage.)
Utar doesn't take Krulek's commentary laying down. As if to prove the usefulness of his contributions, Utar then pinpoints Jeralla's direction (but not exact location). The Tormite's spell shows that Jeralla has only moved five feet for her last know location.
The orc warband continues to advance:
The dragon-helmet orc launches two darts at two separate winged kobolds, dropping one of them from the sky and severely injuring another.
Two of the boil-filled orcs continue to spread their pus onto nearby kobolds. One of the kobold warriors succumbs to his injuries, but the one holding on to a shield manages to block part of the damaging substance.
Two of the long-clawed orcs point their gruesome hands upward and launch a blast of foul energy into winged kobolds. Two more of these fliers hit the deck.
The third long-clawed orc simply swipes at the back of the more experience kobold fighter (the shieldbearer nearby), claiming his life.
Another diseased-looking orc rushes forward, opening his defenses for a passing dagger, but reaches the agglomeration of kobolds near Jeralla's last known location. Once there, the orc stabs one of the largest boils on himself and bursts into a large explosion of pus. The explosion claims the lives of six nearby kobolds, as well as the life of the sacrificed orc.
The last orc nears one of the kobold spell-slingers and stabs it with a pus-covered knife.
The orcs advance further into the kobold camp.
The Gray Patriots continue to set up their defenses:
Five of them continue to move onto the nearest ledge (where Biscuit is) so they can be ready to shoot their crossbows at advancing kobolds.
Two others move ahead of their camp but seem focused on holding their ground.
The spell-weaving brute remains at his post, guarding the isolated Gray Patriot tent in the northeast.
The covert archer up in the statue is the only one who attacks, sending two arrows in a perfect arc to hit the furious owlbear in the distance.
On the water, the two last Gray Patriots continue preparing their boat for a potential quick escape.
Despite the temptation, Doozey refrained from taking a cheap shot at either Ruse or Sahnd. Nor would he fall for the man's provocation, knowing, or at least believing, the Grey Patriot's leader intent was to bait the party into acting as meat shields. So, he held his tongue, clenched his jaw, and followed after the pair if only for a better angle. Then following Utar's instruction as best he could and fired upon Jeralla.
Moments later, Doozey signal for Biscuit to quietly advance and make ready to ambush any foe that might think to push for the Grey Patriots camp sight.
Movement(Doozey): To U-49 (or as close as possible).
Action(Doozey): Blindfire at Jeralla (as directed by Utar). (Lethal, Long Range)Crossbow, Light - Attack: 19 Damage: 9 nonmagical piercing damage.
Bonus Action(Doozey): If able to see Jeralla again, casting Hunter's Mark using freebie(if within 90ft range). OR(if outside of 90 ft range, Doozey will command Biscuit to advance but keep hidden)
(@Ori: I'm moving Doozey to {U-50} because Utar is already at {U-49}.)
Doozey mostly ignores Krulek and advances to the edge of the ledge to shoot a long-shot projectile in Jeralla's general direction. The missile only ends up opening a wound on the earth by a dead kobold's body.
Biscuit follows the command given and advances carefully and covertly.
Ruse and Shand Krulek both run up and jump across the waterfall onto the King's shoulder. From there, they climb to the King's head and join their stealth archer's in getting a position up high.
On the ground, the owlbear rends one of the long-clawed orcs nearly apart. Somehow, she still holds on to her guts for now.
Jeralla reappears suddenly and launches three energy rays at an approaching orc. By the third hit, the creature falls limp. She then enters the nearby cave, ordering the two close-by surviving kobolds to block the entrance. Utar's spell confirms that she goes farther into the cave than just 5 or 10 feet.
28. Neya (89/121; cyan) - benefiting from Aid (3rd level);
22. Kobolds -
20. Raist (43/51; purple) - benefiting from Aid (3rd level);
20. Utar (108/120; yellow) - concentrating on Locate Creature;
19. Orc Warband -
18. Gray Patriots -
14.Doozey & Biscuit (98/108 +8 & 60/65; green) - Speak with Animals active; Biscuit dodged; is hidden (roll: 9), and is benefiting from Aid (3rd level);
Neya easures her movements to reach the cave to massively close the distance on Jeralla. She first runs to the water's edge (to AA-33). Under the shadow of the torch, she rides the shadows to the cave's mouth (X-22) and finishes moving into the cave (the last 10 ft, if I did math right). If she can see Jeralla, she will take a couple of more shots (Since she has perma-Darkvision, I'll assume no dis, if there's anything that imposes, go ahead and make those rolls)
Splashbow Attack: 21 Damage: 13
Acid Check: 2 Damage: 3
Extra Splashbow Attack: 21 Damage: 12
Acid Check: 2 Damage: 5
If she can't see Jeralla, she'll just continue pursuit.
Neya seems to take Krulek's yelp to heart, moving swiftly and teleporting from shadow to shadow to follow Jeralla into the cave. The monk clocks the dragonborn as soon as she enters the cave, announcing her arrival with two flying arrows. (Jeralla takes 25 piercing damage.)
Outside, most of the remaining kobolds try their best to defend their camp:
The last winged kobold spits at a nearby long-clawed orc.
One of the spell-slingers resorts to using a dagger instead and stabs a nearby pus-filled orc twice.
The other spell-weaver creates a Fog Cloud and then emerges from it, moving toward the same cave Jeralla had entered. His companion exits at a different angle.
The two shied-bearers follow Jeralla into the cave, moving to intercept Neya.
-> Spear vs. Neya: Melee Attack: 8 Damage: Unable to parse dice roll.
The four remaining kobolds rush a ill-hidden Biscuit. Only of of them seems to spot the mastiff right away, but after he attacks once, the other three join in:
-> Spear vs. Biscuit (dodge): Ranged Attack: 4 Damage: 3
-> Spear vs. Biscuit (dodge): Ranged Attack: 23 Damage: 8
-> Dagger vs. Biscuit (dodge): Melee Attack: 6 Damage: 6
-> Dagger vs. Biscuit (dodge): Melee Attack: 13 Damage: 3
-> Dagger vs. Biscuit (dodge): Ranged Attack: 20 Damage: 3
Taking a moment to let his breath and stomach catch up with him, Utar raises his shield and steps into the cave, trusting his "radar" to point him in the right direction.
Raist has his own way to follow Neya, and he get to take Utar with him! Once the Tormine emerges just outside the cave, he raises his shield and approaches Neya and the two kobolds attacking her. Jeralla is not much farther in.
The orc warband has suffered some losses but it smells an imminent victory:
The dragon-helmet orc emerges from the Fog Cloud and closes the distance between him and one of the kobold spellcasters. His curved blade strikes twice and claims the life of its target.
Suddenly no longer surrounded by the magical fog, the two boil-filled orcs advance to meet the other kobold spell-slinger in combat. The first one touches the kobold with whatever disease it has and the second one finishes the job with a sharp knife.
Two of the long-clawed orcs point their gruesome hands at their respective targets and each launch another spell-blast. The first of the two bursts the last winged kobold into a puff of blood. The second one leaves a nasty wound on the attacking owlbear. They both inch closer to the kobold camp afterwards.
The third long-clawed orc simply swipes at the owlbear, visibly bringing the hybrid creature close to its demise.
The Gray Patriots finally join the fight, well, some of them do:
The five of them who have re-positioned unleash the projectiles loaded to their modified crossbows at the four kobolds who have approached and surrounded Biscuit. All four kobolds slump to the ground.
The covert archer up in the statue finishes killing the owlbear. At this point, there are no more kobolds or other Jeralla's allies on the visible battlefield, as the rest of them have entered the cave nearby. The archer opts for not firing a second shot for now, waiting to see if Krulek orders him to shoot the orcs down too or not.
All other Gray Patriots continue to perform their guarding assignments (camp, tent, ship).
Though he had half a mind to fire off a shot at one of the orcs to keep them invested on the eastern side, Doozey knew it not to be in the cards today. Now that the Orcs were well and truly riled up from slaughter, they'd soon focus most if not all their bloodlust on the Grey Patriots visible but a stone's throw away. So, as the ranger put away the crossbow, he'd spare Krulek one final look, before then setting his gaze on the cliff ahead of him.
"At least their safe... ish."He mutters, thinking of the rest of the party, prior to then letting out a sharp, signaling whistling to Biscuit. prior to rushing towards the cliff for a leap of faith. Empowered by magic gauntlets, Doozey covers a great distance, and had it been needed, slung himself further using the zipline rope to get to the otherside for a rough landing. But land on the otherside he would before scrambling down to meet and already waiting Biscuit.
"Time to fly like the wind, Biscuit."Said Doozey as he mounted up onto Biscuit's back. "Don't worry, Bruv! I have a need~ A need for speed!~"Replied Biscuit as he wagged his tail excitedly. Then without further thought, Biscuit takes off! Even with him pressing against the fey-touched mastiff's back Doozey had to cling for dear life just to keep from being thrown off as the Mastiff bounded across the rocks with the agility of mountain, sprung over the river, and... perhaps landing on the other side a bit roughly. But with a determination to keep going despite the orcish horde well on approach, Biscuit shrugged off any discomfort to press on, scrambling across the nearby cliff face to get past oxen(?) on his way to and into the cave.
Movement(Doozey): To T-42, long jumping as need (and landing clinging to the cliff if also need be).
Action(Doozey):Rush to W-39. (Should be no more than 20ft)
Movement(Biscuit): To W-39. (I believe that's no more than 30ft if doing the 5-10-5 for diagonal movement)
Movement(Doozey-Remaining from Dash): Mount up on Biscuit.
With all other CRAPers now deep into the kobold camp and the nearby cave, the time has arrived for Doozey to join them. The halfing takes advantage of his gauntlet-enhanced strength and leaps over the waterfall chasm. Next, he counts on his and Biscuit's prowess in climbing so that the pair can reunite somewhere around the King's chest area. Moving as one now, the duo hops and climbs down the King statue, leaping over the second river, and rushing past a couple of entirely unbothered oxen. Before Raist notices it, Doozey and Biscuit are right there next to him.
Ruse has a similar thought, but her approach is more careless. She hops over the King's crown, gains some speed, and leaps into the water far below. Despite her obvious resilience, there is simply no way the fall didn't hurt at least a bit.
Ruse emerges from the water, taking a bit of time to correct herself from a prone position and then moves past the nearby oxen. (Ruse takes 6 bludgeoning damage.)
Krulek moves to the edge of his "crow's nest" and readies an arrow should Jeralla emerge from the cave down below.
Inside the cave, Jeralla seems to harvest the air around her for some magical power. She stares Neya down and releases her spell.
