Angus steps into the center of the dirt road, tossing his winter cloak to Alorin as he does so Trident at the ready, he raises a hand, beckoning the Knight to charge. "Come on now! Have at thee!" (Bonus Action: Rage, Action: Ready: Trident attack on the Knight if he closes the distance). Alorin & Moz just stand watching patiently, but Rivyre tries eyeing the knight for anything suspicious or unusual. (Perception 9) Unfortunately, all she's able to determine is the knight looks odd, but can't quite figure out why. Valnathe also watches on w/ bemused look & posture.
"Hii-yah!" The knight hollers, lifting his lance, and spurring his steed forwards towards Angus. He lowers the lance, & because of the length of the weapon, he doesn't have to close the entire distance. The lance reaches just far enough to strike home before the knight wheels his horse away again, retreating back to where he started. "Take that, knave!" (24 to hit, for 6 piercing damage reduced to 3 from a reach of 10 feet) Angus's bodily swings his axe at the knight as the latter charges forward. A magnificent double play unfolds almost in slow motion, as the lance strikes Angus, the axe spins through the air towards the knight, giving him a solid whack in his midsection. The blow wrenches him off of his horse and he tumbles down into the dust of the road as the horse turns and gallops off.
The crowd goes wild as the Yellow Knight flies off his horse from Angus's mighty blow & Moz really gets into stomping & clamping about!
Angus braces for the lance, flexing his muscles as it impacts him and uses its force to guide his body a step back and around to the side of the dirt road. Continuing the motion, he rushes to the downed Knight. Standing above him, "One for calling my friends names", Angus thrusts the haft of his trident down, "Two for charging an unmounted foe. No honor, truly." (Action: Attack: Crit! for 25 to hit! for a total of 13 damage) Angus holds the butt of his trident on the knights breastplate. "Alorin, would you retrieve the knights steed?"Angus then asks the Yellow Knight: "Now Sir Yellow Fool",as he lifts the end of his trident off of the knights chest, "Do you wish to continue???" (end turn) "Have at thee!" the knight cries, floundering in the dust with limbs that are rather too stiff at the joints. He flings his lance to the side and draws his sword as he scrambles robotically to his feet. He swings his sword at Angus, but lifts his trident to block the blow, the sword crashing harmlessly into its shift. "Very well. Our duel goes on."Angus twirls his trident around in a flourish as he draws it back and slams the haft into the knight. The knight goes flying backwards again into the dust, tumbling head over heels. One of his arms flies off... and he clambers back to his feet, grabbing his sword with the remaining intact arm. (Reckless Attack, Crit, 20 damage, non lethal) (another DC 13 Con Save to avoid being knocked Prone) "An excellent defense, good sir!" and he goes charging back into the fray. This time the sword hits (9 slashing damage, reduced to 4), stabbing in past Angus wide swing with his trident. "Yield, I say, and I will spare your life!"The horse, meanwhile, makes a large circle at a gallop, its long plumed tail flung excitedly into the air as it runs, and as it comes off the circle it begins to run back towards Angus and the knight.
Moz continues his stomping and clapping turning to encourage his companions."Yellow your a boy, making a big noise. Playing at a knight, gonna be a big man someday. Got mud on your butt, big disgrace. Getting your can kicked all over the place Angus will, Angus will whoop you!" *Stomp,Stomp,Stomp, Clap* "Angus will whoop you! Sing it now!"
"Yield, you say? You first! You are down both a horse & an arm."Angus looks past the Knight and sees his horse. He holds his trident at length and goes on the defensive, one arm clenched at his side. To the crowd, Angus's wounds have made themself visible. His face remains stoic and resolved. "I must say, your skill with a blade, at least, matches your station."Angus slowly circles around the Knight and awaits his offense. The knight matches Angus' trajectory. "I need neither horse nor arm to challenge thee!" he hollers, as he swings his sword again. Angus slaps the knight's blade away with his trident, but chooses to remain on the defensive, putting the Knight in-between himself and the rapidly approaching horse. (Dodge Action, Extend Rage Bonus Action)
Valanthe leans over to Moz and says “I know I’ve never actually cut someone’s arm off in a duel before, but that’s not normal, right?” "It's not that strange in the Fey." he replies. "Angus is probably dealing witg some kind of fey spirit animating the armor," giving her a grin. Just like how mortal rulers like their toy soldiers so do Fey Lords, they just tend to be more literal about it." Laughing suddenly, "Hell, it could be just as likely to be a bunch of squirrels controlling it. That's the fun of the Fey." Rivyre telepathically talks to Syletha saying, "Can you try fluttering above the knight, but do not interfere in the fight. Perhaps your hightned senses can pick something that I can't."Syletha flies close, but a strong feeling overtakes her. All she seems to smell is a lovely, delicious, & enticing aroma of tuna fish & catnip rolled into one. She begins fluttering & gliding through the air as if she were experiencing a high completely oblivious to the task given to her by Rivyre. She watches this unfold & shakes her head in annoyance, but not unsurprised at this faerie trick. She waves her hand & Syletha disappears for the time being hoping to re-summon her in time w/ the mind numbing effect purged.
The knight brandishes his sword with his remaining arm, clashing again with Angus trident in a flurry of exchanged blows that don't land anywhere & the horse is fast approaching. Blocking the Knight's fervent strikes, Angus notices a pattern in his assault and sends a swift blow to the Knight. (Reckless Attack, third crit lmao, 8 damage, DC 13 Con save for Topple)
"Should we do something about that horse?"Valanthe asks Moz. Alorin replies, "What did the poor horse ever do? It's not the horse's fault that its master picked a fight." Nodding with Alorin, "Technically the horse is a combatant in the duel. While it may appear that there are no rules and chaos rules the Fey, it can be quite the opposite in fact. There many rules to the Fey that are unbreakable." Moz says to Valanthe, looking back to the fight. "If we need to too, there is a loophole for Alorin or myself to interfere, however I think Angus has everything well in hand. I mean has the Knight even touched him yet?" leans in to Valanthe, "Plus Angus seems the prickly sort about honor and may not appreciate us stepping in."Rivyre joins in on the conversation, "Fey rules are fickle yes, & as chaotic as this world is, there are Faerie Lords who do possess a sense of honor. Interference could make any one of them upset. Angus seems to have the knight well in hand..., unusual as he is. Let him continue, & do not interfere w/ the steed either. It is part of the match." Patting Valanthe reassuringly on the arm. "Considering that armor doesn't appear to have a body, chances are good that is not a real horse." givng her a warm smile " You have a good heart Neris, that much is clear. It is virture you don't want to lose, but be careful the Fey will prey on it. You never know what is beneath all that whimsy and sparkles. Could be innocent, evil or something else." his grin turning mischievous "After all did you think you would fund such a handsome goblin beneath that doughty gnome?"
As Angus hits him with a well-aimed blow, the knight's other arm, holding the longsword, flies off and goes tumbling into the ring of harvest pumpkins of the little campsite. The horse thunders up, pulling up short in surprise as the knight, armless, hops up and down futilely trying to get on the horse. Failing this, he turns and rushes at Angus, aiming a kick. A metal clang resounds from his foot as it ricochets off of Angus not painfully at all. Angus sweeps the knights legs with his trident (Reckless Attack, 21 to hit, 11 damage, DC 13 Con save for Topple) The knight goes tumbling into the dust, armless. "You can't defeat me!" he hollers.
"Chop off his arms and legs!"Moz cheers from the sidelines.
"Well I've de-armed you AND demounted you, defeating you is the next logical step."Angus shouts w/ unabated cnfidence. "Never! Have at thee!" The knight attempts to kick Angus from the ground. Lucky aim, maybe, it gets the poor barbarian RIGHT where the sun don't shine. Angus grunts in pain, "Hmph! Dirty move, pissant"Angus throws his trident down at his side as he holds the knight foot with his own legs, and throws a haymaker. (Reckless Attack, 15 to Hit, 6 Damage) The knight kicks wildly like a fish out of water, and for a moment, the two are just locked in a standstill. The horse, mindful of the flailing limbs, backs up a few steps, ears pricked, watching the show. Then the knight swings his leg around and pops Angus in the side of the head. "Take THAT, knave!"
Rivyre turns to Alorin & Moz, "Look if you two know of any loopholes to stop this duel, I think it's time to end this. The knight has no weapons, no arms, & he cannot mount his steed. It's acting like a child who's had candy stolen from him. It's embarrassing. Do something would you?" "Yield, sir Knight, before you piss our friend off any more and lose your legs as well!",Alorin yells out. "My loophole would be to interfere, you know..., cheat. Not acutally how to stop the fight."Moz says with a shurg.
"Nuada guide my hand that I might strike true, this fool of a knight besmirches the honor of your Valkyries!"Angus draws his hands up in prayer before turning them to clenched fists and bringing them down on the Knights helm. (Reckless Attack, 16 to hit, 6 damage). With Angus's powerful strike, the knight's head in its helmet pops clean off..., yet the now headless & armless armored body continues to relentlessly flail & kick, but doesn't land any hits. This thing is refusing to surrender.
Moz cackles with pleasure, as the helm sails in the air. "Take him apart, Angus!"Leaning over to Alorin. "Now we did swear sacred oaths to each other as a brither, one might say as a wolfpack. One..., could argue that means we could step in for our brother." He says with a wink, "Or Angus could yield."
Rivyre has grown tired of the senseless fighting & watching the fight drag on to a seemingly pointless end. She's had quite enough of the stubbourness of the Yellow Knight claiming an "honorable duel", when he has been anyhing but that. She stands up from the crowd, draws her sword, approaches the them both while keeping a fair distance to avoid getting kicked herself. She mutters an incantation & her voice booms w/ a thunderous tone & authority! "THIS DUEL IS OVER YELLOW KNIGHT! YOU ARMLESS, HEADLESS, WEAPONLESS, & CANNOT MOUNT YOUR HORSE!" "I HEREBY DECLARE THE CHAMPION OF NUADA THE WINNER!" "CEDE THE DUEL WITH HONOR! THAT IS AN ORDER!" "Oh crap this isn't going to end well"Moz says to Valanthe.
Angus attempts to lift the knight by a leg and slam him dash him against the road, "You'd best listen to the crowd, lest you lose all of your limbs!" (Reckless, 18 to hit, 6 damage)
Valanthe watches as the knight's head flies off and hits the ground a short distance away "Is it interfering if I pick up his head? Maybe I could talk some sense into him, you know Face to Face" she says as she walks over and nudges the knights head with her foot. "Hmmm that does give me an idea."Moz says as he walks over to Valanthe. Bending over he picks up the helmet and sticking his hand in it, starts to flip the visor up and down like it is talking. "I yield, ohhhh I was foolish to have challenged the mighty Silver Steward and his incredibly handsome herald." Moz says mimcing the Yellow Knight's voice as close as he can. Turning the head so it is addressing himself, "You are too kind Sir Knight." He says in his regular voice. "It is the simple truth good Sir. Your noble bearing is only surpassed by you raiper wit. Your cutting words so throughly demoralized and disarmed me that the Silver Steward's victory was all but ensured." Moz says as he parrots the helmet. "Oh stop! You are making me blush." He continues in his regular voice, placing one hand to his cheek in feigned modesty. "You know what, this guy isn't half bad. He has a good head on his shoulders." he says with a snicker to the others. Turning the helmet so it is addressing Valanthe"Do you not agree fair maiden? " (Performance-21) Valanthe picks up one of the knight’s severed arms and fans herself with it as if a swooning damsel overcome with emotion “Oh yes, the champion’s herald is incredibly hand-some!“ Giggling, Moz picks up the other severed arm."Ohh fair Lady, please take my arm to steady thy self. " he mimics the knight offering the arm to Valanthe."The Silver Steward is truely fortunate to have such a charismatic hearld. His eloquence is breathtaking, his cleverness.... sublime.""Please, you two are too much."Moz says feigning modesty again.... poorly. Grinning at Valanthe he high fives the Knight's arms.
As Angus picks up the knight by his leg and slams him down onto the road, the leg breaks off in his hand.Somehow, with the momentum, the knight's single remaining leg bends back and gives Angus a wallop of a kick on the way down. (for 5 damage, reduced to 2) "Last chance little dandelion weed! Last chance to kneel before we prove you are incapable!"Angus tosses the detached leg aside as he lifts the breastplate with an uppercut. (Reckless Attack, 23 to hit, 6 damage) As Angus knocks the torso into the air, the last leg flies off, and no more sound or movement is heard from the Yellow Knight....except that provided by the puppeteers of his members, of course.
Rivyre walks over to Angus looking well battered from that fight. "By the Flame, that has got to be the most childish knight I have ever seen. I'm usually abhorrent to senseless beatings..., but i'll make an exception this case. That "toy knight" definitely deserved it. Anyway, congratulations on your victory! Come, sit by the rest of us & I will treat these wounds of yours." Rivyre leads Angus off to the side, pulls out her healer's kit, & starts prepping herbal salves & bandages.
Valanthe and Moz are nearly falling over each other laughing as they brandish the arms and head of the fallen knight.
Rivyre sits Angus down to dress his wounds, only noticing after the fact that they are seated on the logs around the fire in the inviting little campsite.
The horse appears to take no more notice of its fallen and dismembered rider, but lowers its head, wanders to the side of the road, and starts hungrily munching the sweet green grass.
Alorin walks over to the horse, and tries to approach it in a non-threatening fashion, slowly speaking in Sylvan under his breath, “Is cairde muid, ní naimhde, an duine gan marcach.” He then tries to pet the horse, and walk it over to the party when it stops munching on the grass. (Animal Handling: 9+3=12)
Rivyre notices everyone in the campsite, "Wait..., didn't we just agree not to be in this clearly defined trap? We need to leave, now!" she passionately exclaims!
Turning the Knight's helm towards Angus, he bows the helm and with a extravagant flourish of the severed knight's arm. " The victory goes to you Silver Steward, it shall be known across the land you are no ..... girly man." He says in the knight's voice
His fun over, he tosses the helm and arm aside. " Way to go Angus, I never doubt you for second." Moz says overtly handing Valanthe a silver coin. "No doubt... at all." he says firmly
" it's still early. A few more miles down the road and we can camp.?"
The horse lifts its head up and sniffs at Alorin's hands, then quickly returns to tearing up the delicious grass. However, it responds obediently to the tug on its reins, and follows Alorin, a bit disgruntled at being removed from its snack break. A moment later it lifts its head up, and blows and snorts at Beef. Beef bellows in response, and the horse squeals. Both animals noticeably tense up and start fidgeting, drawing up to their full height.
Alorinturns to Rivyreand says with a frown, "Might be a tad late now. We're already off the road."
He turns back to the horse and Beef, and tries to calm them down, "Sin agaibh, sin agaibh, is cairde muid uilig anseo. Ba chóir daoibh beirt a bheith i bhur gcairde freisin." He turns and motions Angus over, "If you're feeling better, I could use a hand here."
Angusstands up from the fire, "Thank you for the assistance, Sister Rivyre." He walks to Beefand begins patting her head, ruffling her fur, "Ciúnas anois, tá gach rud ceart go leor. Tar, suigh cois an tine agus téigh go te." (Animal Handling: 16+1, 17 total)
Both of the animals glare at one another, but after a bit more prancing (on the horse's part) and posturing (on Beef's part), they both settle down to ignoring each other and eating the grass around the campsite. Beef seems to particularly relish it, having been on the winter hay diet for the past few months.
Watching the curious interaction between the horse andBeef,Moz leans in towards Alorin." I don't trust that horse, keep an eye on it"he says. Catching the horse's eye he gives him the "I'm watching you gesture" with his two fingers. Turning and seeing Valanthe settling down by the fire he rushes over. "No No, my dear none of that now."He says and casts Prestidigitation, extinguishing the small campfire. Stepping over to Valanthe he grabs one of her arms with both of his and starts pulling her to her feet, not unlike a small child pulling at a parent. " Time to go, plenty of daylight left to go.On your feet"Giving her a wicked grin " Have you ever heard the tale of Reno and Jezebel? It's a fine tale with many laughs, but it is also a bawdy tale, it might bring some color to those pale cheeks." giving her a sly wink. Clearing his throat " Two households, both unlike in dignity. In fine Liberio, we lay our scene...." he begins
Rivyre looks over to Moz & thinks to herself..., "Ohhhh, that's a good idea & could distract from the Faerie magic affecting her." As she finshes dressing Angus's wounds she mutters her prayer to herself as she casts Guidance, "Flame, help me speak with wisdom and grace, making the most of this opportunity." She walks over & gently grabs Valanthe's hand, "Come now, Valanthe. Who doesn't love a good story when traveling w/ friends? We can rest in a safer location not so open & exposed. After all, Moz is an excellent storyteller!" (Persuasion: 23)
"Hmm...I suppose we can wait a mite longer before resting. I'll try my best to protect you all if more ne'er do wells seek violence against us. I'm feeling much better now, thank youSister Riyvre." He stands slowly, as to not tear the bandages, and starts petting his animal companions. "Tar anois A Bhéice, fág an capall. Tá sé díreach feargach go n-imigh a rídíthe." Angus says to the fairy cow, "Caithfimid imeacht anois. beidh a lán ama agat ansin chun féar a ithe." "And you, Timber, keep your ears sharp and stay by my side old friend."
Valanthe lets Moz help her to her feet and listens intently as he sets the scene. "I once knew a cat called Reno..." she interrupts, "... he was the biggest little kitty in the forest..."
" I am sure he was fine beast" He says as he helps Valanthe to her feet. Leaning in with a loud 'whisper'. " Come now my dear, I need your help getting Rivyre out of here. She has agreed with me twice now and just complimented me. Something supremely unnatural is happening here and it is freaking me the f@#$ out."
Clearing his throat loudly he takes a step back. " First we must introduce our players in this tale...."

Moz says as he parrots the helmet. "Oh stop! You are making me blush." He continues in his regular voice, placing one hand to his cheek in feigned modesty. "You know what, this guy isn't half bad. He has a good head on his shoulders." he says with a snicker to the others.
Turning the helmet so it is addressing Valanthe "Do you not agree fair maiden? "
(Performance-21)
Valanthe picks up one of the knight’s severed arms and fans herself with it as if a swooning damsel overcome with emotion “Oh yes, the champion’s herald is incredibly hand-some!“
Giggling, Moz picks up the other severed arm. "Ohh fair Lady, please take my arm to steady thy self. " he mimics the knight offering the arm to Valanthe."The Silver Steward is truely fortunate to have such a charismatic hearld. His eloquence is breathtaking, his cleverness.... sublime." "Please, you two are too much." Moz says feigning modesty again....
(for 5 damage, reduced to 2)
"Last chance little dandelion weed! Last chance to kneel before we prove you are incapable!" Angus tosses the detached leg aside as he lifts the breastplate with an uppercut.
(Reckless Attack, 23 to hit, 6 damage)
As Angus knocks the torso into the air, the last leg flies off, and no more sound or movement is heard from the Yellow Knight....except that provided by the puppeteers of his members, of course.
Valanthe casts Druidcraft to light the fire and settles down next to it with a big smile on her face "Well, this turned out nice!"
Alorin turns to Rivyre and says with a frown, "Might be a tad late now.
Angus stands up from the fire, "Thank you for the assistance, Sister Rivyre."
He walks to Beef and begins patting her head, ruffling her fur, "Ciúnas anois, tá gach rud ceart go leor. Tar, suigh cois an tine agus téigh go te."
(Animal Handling: 16+1, 17 total)
Both of the animals glare at one another, but after a bit more prancing (on the horse's part) and posturing (on Beef's part), they both settle down to ignoring each other and eating the grass around the campsite. Beef seems to particularly relish it, having been on the winter hay diet for the past few months.
Watching the curious interaction between the horse and Beef, Moz leans in towards Alorin. " I don't trust that horse, keep an eye on it" he says. Catching the horse's eye he gives him the "I'm watching you gesture" with his two fingers. Turning and seeing Valanthe settling down by the fire he rushes over. "No No, my dear none of that now." He says and casts Prestidigitation, extinguishing the small campfire. Stepping over to Valanthe he grabs one of her arms with both of his and starts pulling her to her feet, not unlike a small child pulling at a parent. " Time to go, plenty of daylight left to go. On your feet" Giving her a wicked grin " Have you ever heard the tale of Reno and Jezebel?
I'm feeling much better now, thank you Sister Riyvre." He stands slowly, as to not tear the bandages, and starts petting his animal companions.
"Tar anois A Bhéice, fág an capall. Tá sé díreach feargach go n-imigh a rídíthe." Angus says to the fairy cow, "Caithfimid imeacht anois. beidh a lán ama agat ansin chun féar a ithe."
"And you, Timber, keep your ears sharp and stay by my side old friend."
