As Wendell engages in conversation with the gnome, Aralia keeps watch, though doesn't spot anything at the moment. The gnome then replies to Wendell's comments on the challenges of divination. 'Quite right it is! I dedicate a vast amount of brain power to this science, an amount that I'm sure could not be comprehended by others! Although, my physical strength isn't as great as you may expect. If I see the need to flee imminent danger, the primary hand in my escape comes from the few explosives I've been able to keep.' The gnome gestures to a shoebox sized crate tucked away which contains three small explosives. 'In terms of why I'm staying here, I simply have nowhere else to go. I'm always short on money from spending it on components for my experiments, and decided to cut my losses and capitalise on the free room and food there is here, which allows me to spend the rest of the cash I have saved purely on my magical endeavours.'
[In terms of how much Abishai knows on Acheron, I'm happy for it to be as much as you know as a player. He would have likely heard multiple tales about it, or even war-chants originating from there, and so I'd imagine he would have gathered quite a pocket of knowledge on it]

"I am confused. You say you are here because it is free, yet you tried to flee? If you wanted to get away could you not just walk out of the front door?"
'Well, I have been here for many years now, because of the reasons I stated before, but recently the omens I have been analysing turned dark. The divinations shift based on rough location, and so I see myself in danger whilst I stay in this place, but that danger may also extend to other residents. Blowing a hole in the wall is certainly going to convince the other folks that something's wrong rather than just walking out, seeing as most of them aren't particularly inclined to leave or listen to me tell them to after so many years of comfort here. And besides, although I may not know what will be the cause of the upcoming tragedy, if it turns out to be adjacent to Cangtumble's in any way, then I don't think I'll mind how many bombs I had to detonate.'
"Who knows maybe you can come with me when we are finished with the Balowang." Abathax answers.
Abishai says in hushed tones, worried about being overheard, "If we manage to capture the beast alive, maybe the people of Archeron would pay to see the sight?" His words inflections make it sound more like a question than a statement. "I'll gladly join you if there is coin to be made." Abishai struggles to connect with his curious Tiefling companion and hopes Abathax also wants to capture the beast alive since the rest of the group has been very vocal about killing it. "You could be the muscle, and I'll be the brai..." Abishai stops short, thinking Abathax might get easily offended. Abishai continues, "...Err umm, the performer. We could be rich and famous, traveling far and wide with our...pet."
Abishai cares little about offending others and is, in fact, quite good at it, but avoids it when attempting to build rapport with an individual.
Abathax listens to Abishai, and remembers his mission. He knows he cannot say what he wants to do with it, but he can at least let Abishai know he'd also like to capture the beast rather than kill it.
"Capturing would definitely be an interesting possibility."
Hearing the almost insult, he thinksLet it go, he doesn't know it himself that I'm smarter than him anyway
"Let's first see what the Balowang is exactly, and than we'll see what we are gonna do with it."

"If only there was a wizard here who specialised in Divination that could assist you with the upcoming danger." Wendell pretends to think for a minute. "Oh wait, I know one. I don't suppose you have around 25gp worth of incense to hand do you? Another divination could help the other residents as I don't think they are aware you are blowing things up as they might be in danger. [[ OOC: Technically your strength is 11. Abishai mostly meant you look more dangerous than he does since all he carries is a dagger on his hip and a lute on his back. ;-) ]]
"I suppose you're right. If the beast turns out to be a dragon or some such, it would be nigh impossible to capture and tame." Abishai ponders for a moment. "Abathax, your wisdom impresses me. We need to learn more and deal with what's in front of us before we plan for a future that may or may not happen."
Abishai is still unsure where Abathax stands on the issue and thinks to himself Abathax is probably like all the rest and would rather kill the beast even though he called the possibility, "...interesting..."
'Am I the only one smart enough to see the value of capturing this beast?' Abishai wonders to himself.
The gnome sheepishly goes 'Ah. Yes, I do see what you mean, more proof would definitely help convince the other residents more than my fear tactics have done. In terms of incense, I have just the thing!' They then turn and rummage through all of their stuff, pulling out a small crate filled with lavender incense. They pass it over and say 'As part of the care package when we arrive, we get given about 5 GP's worth of lavender incense, since it can be helpful for sleep and whatnot, and although I've never had a reason to use it myself, I still capitalised on the fact that every so often you can request more without needing any evidence that you've used the previous lot. I always knew stockpiling it would come in handy eventually...' Aralia can hear that the conversation is going well, and the dorm halls are still fairly empty, as the majority of residents have finished their meals and are relaxing downstairs.
Speaking of which, Abashai and Abathax take a stroll around the castle, and discover a fair bit about its layout. Behind the south-pointing wing of the castle, which itself seems to just be consisting of nurse's offices and stores, is a courtyard, with a garden inside, and around this there are multiple rooms made for leisure, such as an orangery facing where the valley receives the most sunlight, a gym, a games room, multiple snug lounges and libraries, and a few smaller drawing rooms with dining tables in them. Many of the residents are relaxing in these spaces, and are both friendly and excited to see you two about.
Abishai would linger in these areas long enough to play a song or two for the residents as he introduces himself and his partner, Abathax. However, his chat with Abathax makes it hard for him to concentrate on the strings of the lute. While performing, Abishai's thoughts continue to gravitate to the Balowang and what the future holds. During this time, Abishai tries to inspire Abathax.
[[ Performance: 2+11=13 Abishai then uses Bardic Inspiration on Abathax. Wendell will take the incense and ritually casts divination. Once he has cast it, he asks his question "What danger will befall Cangtumble's Home for Elderly Adventurer's that will affect the residents?"
Wendell lights the incense and begins the ritual chants for his divination. As the chant progresses, more and more of the devices in the gnomes room begin to stir faster and louder then before, spurred on by the proximity of such potent, real magic. The gnome himself looks about nervously, and a booming voice fills the room, telling Wendell, 'A traitor resident will summon the servants of their master to the Home. They seek Qualksander as their quarry, though both the traitor and their cohorts will fight against any that stand in their way, or even know of their plot.' Suddenly the incense blows out and all of the divining equipment grinds to a silent halt. The gnome then mutters 'That last part...if they will harm those that know of the plot, that means I'm in danger as predicted...but they wouldn't have known that I knew if I hadn't gone and made so much of scene with the bombs, which I only did after receiving the bad omens!' They curse and bang their fist to the wall, knocking down a few loose hanging dreamcatchers and clocks, shouting 'Damn you, fate! What a fool you have made of me!' They then turn hurriedly to Wendell and say 'What do we do?'
Meanwhile, in the main castle where everyone is still joyful and calm, Silvosh visits the kitchens and dining hall. Most of the residents have cleared out of the hall back to their communal areas, and she finds the kitchens closed to visitors, since they are already in preparation for tonight's dinner.
Aralia tenses as the booming voice echoes through the room, her crimson eyes narrowing as she processes the words. When the divination ends and silence falls, she finally steps through the doorway.
“We act fast,” Aralia says firmly, her gaze locking onto the gnome. “You were right to be worried. We need to contain this before the traitor realizes their plot has been exposed.” She glances at Wendell, nodding in acknowledgment of his efforts before turning back to the gnome.
“You know this place better than we do,” she continues. “Who would have access to the means to summon these ‘servants’? Is there anyone who’s been acting strangely—besides yourself?”

However, based on what I have seen, I do believe he is innocent."
The gnome is alarmed when Aralia sweeps in after her lurking, and nearly jumps out of his skin due to his high nerves. He quickly responds to her, saying 'Most of the adventurers in the home have access to some sort of magic, so it really could be anyone bar the more knightly folk. In terms of strange behaviour, I've been so preoccupied with my own safety that I haven't been paying attention to any other residents, although I'm such a recluse I'd expect that I wouldn't be able to tell the difference.' He hangs his head solemnly, now coming to terms with the real implications of the divination, before looking up to Wendell and saying 'Telling Qualksander would be good, and I think he'd be inclined to believe you, at least. And as for revealing yourselves, you're welcome to do that as a party, but I'd rather stay as low under the radar as I can for now. Oh, and yes, my name is Klapton Longley, and I would say it is a pleasure to meet you, if the circumstances weren't as dire.'
Aralia lifts a hand slightly in apology as Klapton startles, her voice calm but firm. “Didn’t mean to startle you, but we can’t afford hesitation.” She meets his gaze, nodding. “I’m Aralia Nightshade. Despite the circumstances, it’s good to meet you.” Turning to Wendell, she continues, “We’ll gather the others and alert Qualksander. If the traitor is already making their move, we need to be ahead of them, not chasing behind.” Her crimson eyes flicker back to Klapton. “Stay out of sight, and if anything else comes to mind—anything at all—let us know.”
