This small crypt has been converted into a kitchen. Dirty utensils soak in a large basin to the east. A stone coffin serves as a firepit; the coffin’s lid has been repurposed as a table, which bears platters of dried fruit, nuts, and meat.

Swirls of green-grey mist swirl around the monk once again. Where he once stood is now occupied by a tiny spider. "OK, place me on your shoulder and then were off I guess" says the tiny arachnid in a very disconcerting scene.
Once aboard the Ozus train he keeps an eye both behind and to the side of them, trusting Ozus to keep them as safe as possible. Spid-ero nestles into obe of the folds of the robe.

Tristan:
”Stay behind KJ. He’ll protect you,” reminds Tristan as he addresses the rescued scholars. In his own heavy armor, Tristan hangs back in the main room, waiting for their scouts to return.
As he waits, Tristan heals some of his own wounds with two spells.

Slightly disappointed by the dead end, Ozus walks back into the main room, gives a brief description of the empty kitchen, and heads through the northern door.
This doorway opens up to a flight of stairs that descends to a corridor. Descending the stairs, you see several doors and an open room to the east. The door immediately to your right, before the open room, has a padlock hanging open on it.

Khessa simply waits... Either for the scouts to report back, or for them to move further away. If she were to follow them now, she would risk exposing them.
[[ OOC: But if she could see, she would surely be immensely intrigued by the padlocked door! ]]
Deciding that even if one of the prisoners they were searching for was behind the padlocked door, they would probably be safer in their cell than wandering after him. He heads to the open room.
The long, low shelves of this room are canted at irregular angles due to the uneven stones in the floor. The shelves are crammed with books, scrolls, and folios. Four robed cultists stand near the shelves instructing two ghouls to tidy up the books.
A stone coffin rests against the north wall, its top carved to look like pages of an open book. Engraved on the book’s pages is a name: Ayren Griffynstone.
One of the cultists sees Ozus come in, and double takes. She bows and says Yes, Teeth?

Though he sees the wisdom in Naero's advice, Ozus would rather have a chance to glean what knowledge he can from this room, before it can be destroyed in a battle with the group.
Ozus is going to rifle through the books for anything that catches his eye, in particular any texts regarding immortality, the nature of souls, and the lords of the nine Hells. Should I roll some kind of check?
Khessa, meanwhile, having given Ozus a good head start, approaches at least as far as the intersection (without entering the new corridor). Hearing her friend talking to... others she thinks, pleased: 'The deception worked! They think he's one of them. If he could just get some of them to follow him to us, we could surprise them - and eliminate them easily while they're divided'.
The blonde arcane warrior however remains completely out of sight, listening, ready to react to developments in the situation.
While you don't find exactly what you're looking for, you do find some books that could be valuable monetarily and informationally. There is a book on Vecna that describes the Hand of Vecna and the Eye of Vecna that is exquisitely bound and illustrated. There is also a book of poems with a gold plated cover, and a book on Neverwinter's history where you find two spell scrolls stuck into the pages. One is of Greater Invisibility and the other is Major Image.

Naero waits patiently while Ozus executes his plan. He observes the group while Ozus rifles through the scattered literature. "Shall we go now?" he whispers directly into his mounts ear.
Khessa also stands ready... If she hears that Ozus is trying to get one or more enemies to follow him, she will return to the room to prepare the 'welcome' with the others. If she hears Ozus taking his leave or leaving alone, she will remain where she is, so as to be closer to him in case of trouble.

"Now that's just nasty. Who wants to eat food with a dusting of person?" Ozus mutters to himself, with a grimace.

After taking in the scene before him, spid-ero whispers directly in Ozus' ear. "Just wave them off and back out".
