So they reformatted the roller in D&DB, it seems to auto roll the damage now. The log is also in it’s own tab up in the character bar now, it makes sense so you can access it anywhere on your sheet.
The spiders had Total Cover before the first surprise attack, and great Stealth rolls, so they could not be seen or targetted. Now that their trap is set, they have descended to a safe distance to fall with minimal damage. Due to the twinkling lights and the crystal stalactites they currently have Half Cover, but they can be attacked with ranged abilities.
Since the spiders have determined that you are too big a threat, the battle can be over even if you don't attack. But that also means they will remain in the den if you don't kill them. It is most likely that, if they see you again, they will flee rather that attack. XP will be awarded after your next turn.
Okay with that least xp Sera reached 8th level. What was needed for rising level?
Long rest? Time to train?
I not recall...
:(
A long rest is all you need. You're welcome to RP your practice of your new abilities, but your first successful attempt happens after you get a good night's rest.
There were three and a possible 4th. But when only one joined, I had low hopes of him staying on. It's challenging to be a late comer in a game. You remember what it was like at the end of v1. The guy playing the barbarian caused absolute havoc in the game because the very day he joined, he wanted out, but only after a good death. Hastos was stuck in a cage. Lars was a late comer with very little idea about what the story was, because the person carrying the story left the game... hence why the recruitment started in the first place. The whole game was sort of accidentally centered around an LG Paladin who was struggling internally due to claiming the scythe in the first encounter at the Laughing Dwarf. He didn't want to take lives, but was about 40/60 on resisting the scythe's desires for glorious combat. My son joined the game with the scythe, but his experience with DND wasn't as advanced as the player playing the barbarian, so he was getting his ass kicked, even though he had a significantly more powerful weapon. It was enough of a slice of humble pie to make my son quit the game. I generally do not endorse PVP in my games for that very reason.
But with Yuki, he was trying to play a dignified, respected Ronin type in a game that's very messy and gritty, with a delightfully unpredictable, unserious, chaotic band of misfits. Even moreso... you aren't exactly murder-hobos either. You show restraint when needed, and evaluate the impact your decisions make, without being comic-book-broody about it. If he would've joined at the beginning, he might've been then long-suffering father type who shook his head at his ragtag party, but loved them nonetheless. But he's a late comer. So he was on the outside. So his dignified approach to his presentation came off as snooty and distant. As a DM, I was thoroughly entertained. But as a player, that can be tough. It feels like being the last one picked for a team sport.
This group has had time to gel. You've earned each others trust and respect. You have your inside jokes. You can insult each other without crossing a line. You know how to complement each other in combat and in skill challenges. That's special, and only comes from playing together for a long time. It's a huge part of why I tend to start my campaigns at Level 1. To give you time to learn how to play as a team first.

Did you miss any XP? I’m about halfway through level 8. @DM, did I mess up?
As Lars said, you each have the capacity to grow seperately. Split questing can contribute to that. Currently, Merkas has the highest XP. But honestly, I don't keep tabs on your growth too much. I annotate how my NPCs are affected by their experience, and RP it in different ways. Orr the Unseen is acknowledging their current weaknesses and is striving to be a better contributor to the party. They're also pushing themself way past their limits, by using Level 2 spells at great risk to their own health in order to show the strain of training to become something more. They're learning to channel their spells for maximum damage, by attacking more than one foe at a time. When they get a good night's rest, they're in for one hell of a transformation. But for y'all... I just let you manage your characters. 😅 If you forget to log some XP or some loot, then I guess it's gone. But that doesn't seem to be the case here.
MrUncleTio with rolls like that, your probability of success is high. But I need to know which way you are going. There are many cobblestone paths.
With your Perception Results, you see 4 paths that likely lead to an exit:
Blue or Black: Primary Dragon entrances. You know they lead back to what's left of the Myconid grove, but y'all broke their spirits pretty well. There's evidence that they'd still love to see you die horribly, but... not at their hands. That said, it's unclear how long it takes for the passageway to produce more of that crystal dust. It's currently too humid in there for the dust to form a quick bond onto you. But the air in the tunnel is still toxic. You have not tested path path Black, and the tunnel is much longer.
Path Green or Red: It seems blocked in a similar way to how the first cobblestone passageways were blocked. If you head either of those ways, I'll PM you with what Hastos understands about it.
Sorry I haven’t been overly active. Been sick for the last 2+ weeks and busy on top of that. Merkas will get back to his shenanigans soon
It's cool! Thanks for letting us know! I'm not feeling too strong today either. Bit of a paralysis stint that's making it a little dangerous to walk. 😅 Besides, we're all waiting on Uncle to tell me where Hastos is going.
I'm sure it's just the autism resisting change, but I really do not like this new layout. I think it makes it harder to notice updates. I'm gonna message Uncle.
Quick reminder: Kobolds tend to be matriarchal and insular. They're not necessarily (as in, not always) mysandrist, but it stands to reason that this kobold assumes the same structure exists within your party. Kobold males are generally smaller than kobold females, which is generally lining up with your party's demographic as well. So, she's assuming that Sera is an overburdened pack leader doing her best to protect and lead her weaker male travelling companions on a well-intended expedition. Sera's staggeringly high Persuasion roll sold the presumption. More or less, she's like, "Girl... I get it." ðŸ¤
The presence of a Giant Strider may not be not lost on her, as they tend to live in Red Dragon dens when they exist in this realm. Reds and Blues rarely get along. Reds love glorious combat and conquest. Whereas Blues tend to be more mischievous... loving their pranks, riddles, and games with high consequences and stakes. Blues don't care about war though, and that pisses Reds off, which amuses Blues all the more. However, this seems like an especially insular tribe. Living in a remote wasteland, and keeping to themselves (inside a cave that literally causes insanity) for Gods knows how long... they may never have seen a Giant Strider before, and might assume it's some kind of dragonkin. It's unlcear whether or not her red scales will become problematic later. But if they can tolerate a worshiper of a Platinum Dragon, a red-descendant in their midst is probably a smaller leap of trust.
Sera the Cleric about to sermanize. 😄 Is it time to make some new converts? I actually established rules in a previous game for... ehem... building a cult. It was the players' idea. But the same format can be used, if you wish to go there. Converts to Paladine can serve many roles similar to a guild. They can spread the word, build atars and temples (you can pray at altars to your god to receive Heroic Inspiration, and receive shelter and divine blessings for visiting a temple to your god), and get into occassional shenanigans. It's also a great place to have a limited, but steady, supply of divine scrolls and potions.
