Yes seldom Kender steal for greed or any reason than curiosity or playfulness. We can just assume he ends up with fellow party members belongings he pull out from time to time. ;)
For sure. I don’t have access to the kender race officially so he’s a lightfoot halfling reskinned. The race differences seemed minor enough that it’s simply lore and not true gameplay changes.
How familiar are we all with each other within the group? As members of the Golden Company I assume there is some knowledge but not necessarily friends?
Ok Merkas will be prodding for reactions then. Don’t mind him.
I avoided reading most of this thread as about 6 posts in there was mention of various NPC’s and didn’t want to spoil any of the fun. So I wasn’t sure if I missed something stating our affiliation with each other
Sorry it took so long for someone to reply but the GM was pretty clear with me that overall team makeup isn’t too important as they can adjust the encounters and such accordingly. I think it would be fun having a monk dwarf. Hope he gets along with Kenders, Merkas is shaping up to be pretty typical for the race.
overall I hope to enjoy some great rp and adventures with you.
Going to need a refresher on DnDB forum commands it’s been a bit. Trying to remember how to italicize/bold/colour text on my phone. Also I know there is a command string for rolling but gotten so used to Avrae discord commands I can’t recall these.
Is it just habit that you are bolding/colouring different text for thought and speech or is this a basic campaign suggestion?
Can I make a suggestion to “spoiler” thought texts as the other players can’t read minds (class abilities exempt)? I was in a PbP campaign that not doing this caused some serious tension in the group as it was hard to track what was thought and what was said.
I no quite understand. You like that we not share in text what our characters think and feel?
Only write what them actually speak and do?
To me PbP is more like having co-writers to a engaging story..we all try our best to make a fun reading for each other...including the DM. Trying to inspire each other. Thoughts and emotions is clues to others what you like. Invitations to creativness.
Sorry there is a way to put thought behind spoiler blocks to hide it from the general players but available to the GM and other players that can read their minds. I will dig into it later as I only have spotter cellphone service at work
okay I not here to make a no fun experience so I ask what version you like read. Here is two posts for same scene. One share thoughts and emotions. One is just words and actions.
With thoughts and emotions:
Sera watches Hastos fidget with his cloak, his unease obvious. That dragon armor—he tries to hide it, but she’s already noticed. He isn’t the type to serve Takhisis, not from what she’s seen. Plenty of soldiers scavenge the battlefield for whatever they can use. But still… something about it nags at her. There’s more to that armor, more to him.
She exhales softly, crossing her arms. If the guard starts asking questions, she can’t lie for him—not when she doesn’t know the truth.
The kender’s exaggerated gagging pulls her from her thoughts, and she grins. Mischief sparks in her eyes as she decides to turn the tables. She wonders how easily he can be flustered.
Then her attention shifts. The guard rummages through the kender’s backpack, pulling out something that makes her brow furrow. Those cards. She knows those cards. The last time she saw them was two nights ago. Of course. Of course.
From the corner of her eye, she notices another dwarf. Rugged, worn leathers, floppy hat, mustache thick as a hedge. A glance at the gate guard, then back at this one. A resemblance, maybe. Brothers? Cousins? Whatever the case, she files it away—just in case.
Only talk and actions:
Sera folds her arms and glances at Hastos. "I wish you had shared more of your background, Hastos… whatever you tell that guard, I can’t back you up much."
She turns as the kender makes dramatic gagging noises. A smirk tugs at her lips before she leans in slightly. "You know, I heard this outpost has the cutest kender girl in all of Krynn."
As the dwarf guard searches the kender’s pack, Sera’s eyes catch on something. She points. "...Hey, is that not my deck of cards?"
She steps closer, watching as the guard studies the ornate playing cards. Her gaze flicks to the kender, then to the deck.
From the corner of her eye, she spots a rugged-looking dwarf in worn leathers, a floppy hat slouched over his head, and a thick mustache. She glances between him and the bearded guard, her gaze lingering just a moment before turning back to the scene in front of her.
Is the first version no fun to read? Then I stop and keep to the second version even I find that a bit more shallow and reactive
Nothing against your post and honestly it wasn’t yours nor Hastas that made me mention it. It was something that comes up now and then in any PbP I have been in when characters don’t necessarily get along.
The post with emotions is a much better read and, as I am new to the group, if this is how this group functions, don’t let me stifle the creativity. Forget I mentioned it.
I had a similar adjustment, Hroth. I think I even mentioned it in this ooc somewhere. After thinking about it, I decided that it’s kinda like knowing what other players are doing despite not actually being with them. You know, compartmentalizing what you know and what your character knows. On a personal level, I decided to give it a try and I feel it’s helped me connect with my (and others) character a lot faster. It took a little getting used to, but I’ve come to like it.
Hey guys! I'm so sorry I haven't posted the last few days. I'm trying to post now, but I'm way too busy. I'm about to go to a protest. It's a peaceful one, so I don't expect to get arrested. So, I think I can get posting afterwards. Expect an update in about 8 hours from this post.

How indeed! Sounds like there’s a story there!

Oh, yeah I guess it could be interpreted that way, I did a bit of editing to clarify.

Hey all good life gets in the way of all our favourite activities. Just gives us more time for back and forth banter.

I was able to update the DM Notes for Hastos, and I read the back story for Sharn.
Unfortunately, that's all I have time for until tonight.
