D&D BEYOND will be undergoing maintenance on Jan 20th @ 1 AM Pacific for approximately 6 hours. For updates, check our Status Page at https://status.dndbeyond.com/
SunDial365 has been inactive since the 16th. So, it's safe to say their life has gotten too busy to post regularly. It may be advisable to bring a guild member along. This mission isn't terribly challenging for your level, but still... an extra sword couldn't hurt.
We have Orr, the mage often more ranged as magic types typically aren’t front liners
Ringmar - Halfling currently on the path of druid, possible healing and combatant all-rounder, Wildshape takes them to the front line but can also be very versatile support
Catt Ringglimmer - Not sure which class she’s heading towards.
Merkas can certainly move to the back and play with his spells more this time around as he’s accepted that he might possibly be a magic user
Ringmar and Catt don't have class levels yet. None of them do really, but those two are Commoners. As such, they aren't useful in combat unless you give them a wand or something. 100 XP is the minimum requirement to taking on a class level.
Catt is basically undecided, and her "awakening" will come through adventure. As a kender, rogue seems like a natural option. Ororana and Kasi are both level 5 adventurers, but they're also Rank 3 Guild Members, and are the only ones capable of leading guild members on CR 1 quests. But you don't really have a lot of guildees yet.
Current Lineup: 7/12 members, 2 Patrons.
Rank 3:
Ororana (2 Barb/3 Fighter) Kasi (5 Ranger)
Rank 0:
Cyrus (Gladiator) Orr the Unseen (Mage) Catt (Commoner) Ringmar (Commoner) Handar (Veteran)
Unranked (Patrons):
Buckeran (Bandit) Amelista (Commoner)
Buckeran and Amelista don't technically fight for you. It's more the other way around. But they can serve as interim Guild Master in your absence. Buckeran's responsibities in Santekh are farily light. When Santekh recovers a magic item, it goes to him. His job is to identify it, classify it, determine whether or not it's safe to use, and secure or distribute it as needed for the war effort. Amelista is much busier. She's running double duty, taking on the role vacated by Verhanna, and working as a liason for neighboring towns and cities to form trade agreements and military alliances. So, the only quests she's interested in going on would be related to those. Buckeran is already spoken for right now, and can't go on an adventure with you. Kasi is arranging lodgings for your prospective captor, and handles resource allocation, the role Rhyanna used to play. So while she could go with you, it may loosen her grip on the situation at home. Kasi can part-time manage your guild in your absence if desired. And Ororana is about to run quests for the guild with 3 other guild members... which would consist of whomever she has on hand.
I say we take Orr the Unseen with us. A Mage is handy. He can borrow Seras wand of magic missiles and Javelin of lightning to get a bit extra to attack with.
You don't have to participate, but if you choose to, you should know the risks involved... mwahahahahaaaa!
It's a game of odds and evens. Roll a dice, I recommend a d4, but the choice is yours. But post your results in the OOC! If you dare...
Odds get a Trick; evens get a Treat!
Tricks are never entirely bad. Sometimes the tricks can be quite handy, if cleverly used.
Treats are never bad, but sometimes don't have mechanical or monetary value.
The tricks and treats are specially rolled by me on custom tables, so you don't get to call your shot. Rolling high or low doesn't matter. Only odds and evens.
The item appears on or near your person when I post on Halloween. So you have until then to post your roll. No take-backs!
If you don't roll by then, I will assume you have chosen to abstain from playing.
Some tricks and treats have resulted in sidequests. Other tricks and treats have resulted in having a permanent friend/enemy/frenemy. But mostly, you get a trinket. Some of their applications are obvious. Others are far more mysterious. But you're all in a special circumstance right now. Buckeran is a master of identifying magical items... especially cursed ones. While traveling with Buckeran, you all automatically get Advantage on INT and WIS checks to identify monsters and magic items as well as to navigate, unless you specifically choose not to include Buckeran in your check. He can also perform the Help Action in CHA checks, as he is a rather skillful diplomat. And he has a tool that helps him Detect Magic. So, if you get a mysterious item, have a look at it! Roll your check with Advantage, and see if your character is smart enough to figure it out! The DC is set to standard rules:
5 = Very Easy (Some Treats and very few Tricks will be Very Easy) 10 = Easy (Many Treats and a few Tricks will be Easy) 15 = Medium (Most Treats and some Tricks will be Medium) 20 = Hard (Some Treats and most Tricks will be Hard) 25 = Very Hard (Very few Treats and some Tricks will be Very Hard) 30 = Nearly Impossible (No Treats and maybe 1 Trick will be Nearly Impossible to figure out 😜. It'll be a mystery that you get to figure out the hard way!)
Not being able to figure out a Trick or a Treat doesn't necessesarily mean it's super powerful or dangerous. It could just be a really, really weird mundane item... like a severed, dessicated hand, or a rock from a plane of existence so distant, not even Buckeran knows anything about it. The items themselves may have no magical power, but could indicate a greater opportunity or threat! For instance, the rock might be there because there's an unstable planar rift nearby! And you'll randomly walk in and out of that mysterious plane as you travel, facing monsters and kingdoms no other adventurer has ever seen! Or it might just be shiny and, due to its rarity, worth a lot of money. The severed hand may become a powerful alchemical ingredient... or belong to a lich who is now tracking their body parts down! A broken slingshot may belong to an ancient, tormented warrior who is bound to it until their final mission is complete, or it may just be a discarded toy. And that final mission may be to slay something, or just to bring it back to their descendants.
The point is, there's a hint of mischeif to this game, so it's not for everyone. If you are unafraid of the unexpected, and delight in challenges that may put your character, the mission, or even all of Khur at risk in exchange for unknowable rewards, then my annual Trick or Treat game is the right game for you!
Even I'm not sadistic enough to put Vecna on your tail at level 7! 😆
This b*tch be crazy, but could you imagine a god traversing the planes, violating the domain treaty and risking open war with the pantheon of Krynn to track down some lower-mid-level adventurers over a hand that's been lost since AD&D? I mean... that would be kind of hilarious if we intended this to be a survive-as-long-as-you-can campaign with death being the understood end. But Vecna? Guaranteed party wipe. I like to at least give you all an out... even if the "out" is to run.
So, I hope you like your tricks and treats. The results were exceedingly random, and I can't think of a more hilarious pairing for all of them! With all the books Hastos keeps getting I wouldn't be surprised if he ended up in his winter years running the most prominent library in all of Krynn! 😂
The name Gizelcumab is sort of an inside joke with my roommate and me. Since we both have chronic illnesses, the algorithm keeps giving us ads for various types of medicines. One such medicine is called Guselkumab to treat Crohn's Disease. Neither of us have it, but we're both familiar with the condition, since we both have medicated digestive conditions. And it sounded like a cool demon name. So, it always appears in a sulphuric cloud of smoke and has eyebrow singeing breath.
Enjoy your stinky new pet, Sera!
And Merkas, the gangsta life is calling to you buddy!
I thought it very cool! Expect me to dig into that book once I find someone who can read Draconic!
For Sera, I was like “Go clear out the Dragon caves for us!” This reminds me of the last big campaign that I played. I think it was for Christmas, the DM had us roll a d100 and had a set of gifts. Well, as it turns out, I managed to get a “Horn of the Endless Maze”. From that point on we were basically speed running the campaign! LOL! in what turned out to be the final battle of the campaign, we ran into a group of cultists who were summoning Tiamat, and I gave one of the Minotaurs a bag of magical beans (I think those were a Halloween gift) that could either manifest random things when exposed to water or combust when thrown. I told this pack abyssal Minotaurs to protect the one carrying the bag, and told the one carrying the bag to run into the middle of the cultists and throw the bag to the ground.
End of campaign.
And I’m seriously curious where Merkas’ gift is going to lead him!
What was wrong with a hamster???!! A soft and cute one...
No Lawful good and kind Sera end up with a ugly demon pet. That stink of rotten egg-fart. And misbehaves every 3rd time. With a name you never remembers.
I am sure Merkas adopt it. And name it Farty.

Yes it was a good one. I hope Merkas one day get to say that to his face. I was partly posting and you managed post before I got to finish :)
Now I like a game of gettin in prison. But I think the bounty hunters must be at least level 12 to bring us down.
Thanks. Um already have it? So do I get to save one up or it’s lost to the ether?
Loyalty Begets Honour
You can give it to someone else. It doesn't stack. But inspiration can be passed to other PCs.

Thanks! :)

Who could we choose from? Preferbable some that can be useful at a distance

I’m good with whoever we go with. Agreed a mage could be very handy. Although a rogue could also be super useful.
