Khessa has just been awakened by Anator's telepathic warning, when Jean also announces the 'visitor'.
The blonde arcane warrior cautiously leaves her armor, just in case the situation evolves for the worse, but she still seems saddened, seeing the lost soul... "It's a shame that this soul can't find peace... I'll protect myself and try to talk to it. Maybe we can help it. I don't want to ignore it - and maybe leave it condemned to haunt this desolate place until the end of time!"
'Thanks again, Steff...' Khessa thinks for a moment about the boy who gave her the precious gift, before putting the rod away again. She then approaches the tormented soul, holding no weapons in her hand and smiling at him: "A good evening to you. I am Khessa, Khessa Cabbagefield. It is a pleasure to meet you. How come you are in this place, instead of at your eternal rest?"
As you approach the Ghost looks in your direction and you are a bit shocked by its Horrifying Visage, but your spell protects you.* When it notices that you are unaffected,it turns back, staring at the other grave and points a translucent finger at it.
*all others that followed Khessa need to make a DC 13 WIS save.
Khessa approaches the grave the ghost is pointing at and tries to get more clarification: "If you could talk, everything would be easier... But if you can't talk, by nodding yes or no with your head... You can't find peace because the person buried here was killed?"
If the ghost can't talk and nods no:
the blonde arcane warrior tries other possibilities that come to mind (stopping if the ghost nods yes, of course): "Do you need something that's buried here?" "Do you want your body buried here?" "Do you want us to dig up the person buried here?"

It can talk. But his words come slowly and stuttered. Perhaps it has trouble with it because it hasn't spoken to anyone for so long, or maybe it was a problem when it was alive. Or maybe its vocabulary in Common is limited. In any case, the ghostly figure answers: Could not... defend(?)
Eric flanks his lover, although he feels the magical energy through his body while he gets close the ghost, he overcomes it without effort.
"Did both of you found a violent death here? It is this which bounds you here, in the world of the living, preventing you from rightfully resting?" he adds to her speach
Khessa looks Eric in the eye: "It seems that in order to let this poor soul rest in peace, we must destroy the shrine... And personally I'm not afraid of a little gymnastics..." she already holds her imposing Maul"...but just to be sure we're not committing an act of wickedness, you who understand religion much more than I do, dear, can you figure out to which gods or forces this shrine is dedicated?"
Eric nods, and gets closer to the shrine, taking a careful look around it, looking for any sign that may reveal the nature of the deities to which the shrine is dedicated (he uses Guidance)
Religion check: 10
"In any case, dear" says Eric "I think destruction of the shrine won't quench its thirst of vengeance, after all something deep and terrible must have happened here; after all..." he says before turning back to the others "temples and deities do not kill peoples, other people do"
"I trust your wisdom, dear..." Khessa smiles "But what if the shrine is dedicated to some evil cult? Then perhaps it wouldn't be such a bad idea, to destroy it... And the ghost targeted the shrine, while demanding revenge... Maybe the people who committed the murder were Cultists of this shrine, now they are dead (it could have happened a long time ago), and the shrine is all that remains to remind them of their evil... and so by destroying it the ghost can rest. Is that so unlikely?"
At first Eric doesn't notice anything with his spell. Just to be sure he walks to the front of the shrine and notices that the walls blocked a faint magical evocation aura.
Zale attempts to remain indifferent to the ghost. She's not sure why they would want to bother 'avenging' it, but she nods along with Khessa's words then frowns. "It could be the total opposite though. It be just as likely that the shrine was used to seal the evil of the cult away. We can't make the decision to destroy something like a shine lightly." She rubs her chin. "Granted I don't be knowin much bout' this stuff."
"You may be right Zale" replies the dwarf "but this small temple indeed hides something" thereafter Eric performs a ritual of identificationand poses his hand on the shrine' s wall
Khessa stands by Eric, ready for anything. The mention of a 'halfling' surprised her... but she thinks it could be an evil Cultist (if not Cultist leader), alive or undead depending on how much time has passed since the crime to be avenged.

"You could not defend this person?" Khessa points to the tomb. "And... will you find peace if we punish the killer?"
Jean hangs back, keeping a wary but curious eye on the conversation and watching for any signs of danger.

Eric isn't sure, maybe one of the many lost gods of Netheril or Anauria?
The ghost seems nervous and gestures frantically. Halfling! Inside!
