"Recently forced..." Khessa notes "Varram and his company must have passed through here - perhaps looking for Diderius - a good sign, because that means Tiamat is unable to reveal everything to them."
"Let's continue on their trail..." the blonde arcane warrior suggests "We could kill two birds with one stone: capture Varram (and his Mask) and find a source of knowledge to consult ourselves."
The tall adventuress then leads beyond the forced door...
Six statues stand here, all of cowled wizards leaning on staffs, their faces obscured by deep hoods. The hollows the hoods form are particularly dark. The bones of more than a dozen humanoids litter the ground.
When you enter the room you are struck with a sudden thought: Some secrets are not meant for mortal minds to know. Look away from the darkness in which such knowledge hides.
Khessa is strongly tempted to find out what 'knowledge' hides in the darkness - but decides to take the time to think about a not too risky way to find out.
For now, the blonde arcane warrior accepts the suggestion and avoids looking into the hollows of the hoods form that are particularly dark. She studies the pattern of the bones for a moment, trying to conclude if the bones seem more abundant in certain spots rather than others... because the spots with the most bones should be the ones where the most deaths have occurred - therefore the most dangerous!
Well, since the bones seem in better conditions between the statues, Khessa tries to quickly pass from one of those places to the other, without lingering in front of the statues.
The blonde arcane warrior also tries to avoid to stay in line with the statues' sight, when possibile.
Then if nothing bad happens, the tall adventuress goes through the next door...
Apart from the watchful statues nothing seems to happen. The next chamber is a high vaulted dome with a deep inset ledge circling the room, 10 ft wide and 15 ft up. The floor here is set with a beautiful tile mosaic showing a knight in plate armor wielding a glowing sword against a chimera. The word “SAFE” is written in chalk on the door to your left. The double doors right in front of you are plated in corroded copper engraved to depict a group of wizards peering over a pool of water. The oversized figure of a male wizard at the top of the image raises his hands as if summoning a creature from the pool. These doors bulge out noticeably from their frame. And near the wall to your right a sun is depicted in the mosaic.
"The door on the left has been declared 'safe'..." Khessa muses "Probably by Varram and his men, who are ahead of us. That probably means that if there was anything of interest, they have already taken it - and are now exploring the... less safe area!" she points to the double door.
"Judging by the images, the divinations were supposed to be conducted there..." the blonde arcane warrior continues her reasoning "Perhaps even a summoning gone wrong, considering that the doors bulge out noticeably from their frame, as if something had tried to get out".
"Hopefully," the tall adventuress concludes, "Varram and his people will encounter whatever creature we summoned before us (if such a creature is still present) and become weakened by the fight. If we proceed cautiously, perhaps we can take advantage of this to capture Varram. Capture, not kill - because remember, the last time we killed the bearer of a Mask, the Mask was automatically teleported elsewhere, preventing us from taking it."
After that, if no one objects, Khessa attempts to open the double door - and continue on from there.
The blonde arcane warrior immediately spots the threat and wields her sentient greatsword, jumping to the attack before the monster can take advantage of some of her surprised friends!
"Watch out!" Eric yells "This may be the illusion that has been cast over this place, creatures are concealed and what seems just a bas-relief may come to life" Then the dwarf sees with relief that Khessa is already on guard.
Khessa, who is already running towards the chimera as Eric speaks, moves to the monster's back. In this position, on the other side of the party, she will prevent the monster from moving towards the surprised party and will force the dragon head, probably capable of breathing flame, to decide whether to hit her or Eric - but not both.
To finish her preparation, the blonde arcane warrior utters a short mystical formula, after which her outline becomes very indistinct. After that, she begins to make good use of Hazirawn...
[[ OOC: Khessa uses her Action to cast Blur and her Movement to position herself. Since she is blurry, the Chimera's attack against her will be at Disadvantage. ]]

As Khessa pivots around the Tile Chimera she notices that it is thin in one dimension and can probably use that fact to its advantage in combat.
Next up: Eric (and don't forget that Insight check)

Rolled in game log an Investigation roll, if needed: 15+4=19.
(If a roll is needed but it was a different one, we can keep the rolled 15 and adjust the modifier)
Eric warns the others "This place is imbued with illusion magic, things may not be as they look like"
It doesn't look like there are more bones in some place than others. Those between the statues look more intact though.
When you make your way through the room the sound of grinding stone announces the statues turning their cowled heads to follow the your movements.
