For five hundred years the world of Sanatal has been in unrest, turned topsy-turvy and inside out by a great cosmic calamity. The underground realm of the Underdark was brought to the surface by great, world-shifting magic, and has now been bound together with the Material Plane, fusing the two into a surface world of fear, gloom, and darkness. The denizens of the Material Plane are in constant fighting with the uprooted Underdark dwellers, and now life is an endless struggle for land and power. However, amongst this constant crazed strife, a powerful sapphire dragon by the name of Ki'Na'Lah, or Deep Blue as he is known to common folk, has gained a shred of permanent power. In his dread lair, the patchwork castle of Garganate, he rules the surrounding environment with fear as his main weapon, and his sonic cry as the next. Whilst keeping uprisings against him at bay on the outside, he strives within his hoard to weave together the dregs of cosmic, multiversal energy left over from the calamity in order to gather the strength to crown himself a god.
Deep Blue came very close to achieving this goal a mere few decades ago, when he created an artifact to awaken his inner dragonsight, which is the ability to see ones alternate universe selves, usually only unlocked by dragons due to their primordial connections (hence the name). This tool was a monocle, dubbed the Spiderweb of Starlight, and it was going to be the gateway into binding his own echoes from other worlds together, and becoming a Greatwyrm, until it was stolen, then hidden, by a masterful rogue that soon faded from the public eye. Now Deep Blue restlessly searches the land, sending his armies out into the already tumultuous land to cause further destruction in the name of finding his precious, magical eyeglass. However, each of you, the adventurers, happen to know the legendary thief, and through his dying words, found out the location of the monocle. You have now have sworn a binding oath, together as a party, to find the Spiderweb of Starlight, and destroy it. However, that is not an easy task, as to shatter such a powerful multiversal tool, you will have to voyage to the strongest source of worldly energy in the land, in order to not cause yet another world-shifting catacylsm from the power kept within it, and the font of the magic that is able to absorb such potent power, happens to be Deep Blue's own lair...
Hiya all, I am recruiting for a new, homebrew friendly campaign, Spiderwebs of Starlight! It is a great quest across an unfamiliar land that is the result of a cosmic fusion between the Underdark and surface world, in order to destroy the lost monocle that the draconic tyrant of the realm needs in order to become a god. It will be starting at Level 1, and we already have two players, an Elf Cleric and a Wereraven Rogue, so I am looking for 2-3 other players to go along with them! Ability scores are to be determined with Standard Array, Point Buy, or by rolling for them on this thread (always reroll ones). Below is a template for character applications, and although this is not mandatory by any standard, I encourage races that are either common Material Plane folk (humans, elves, dwarves, halflings etc.) or Underdark races (duergar, drow, svirfneblin etc!) since these are the races that are most common in the world by far, although I will gladly consider accepting characters of other races as well, if that is what you want to play!
Character Name: Class (and Subclass if you have one!): Stats: Race: Backstory: Character Sheet (Only if you have one ready!): Any other information you want to include!:
2014 or 2024 rules are fine, and I said earlier, this campaign is fully open to homebrew, so if you have any homebrew features you would like to use, feature some details to it above, and I'll take a look, although I'm fairly relaxed with what I allow! I would also like to make it clear that I am looking for players that are willing to post at least once every other day, unless you've given a reason anytime before an absence of course, and will stay committed! If you are unsure that you can stick to this, mention it in your application so I am aware! I will be closing applications in roughly a week depending on results, good luck to everybody, and if there are any questions please feel free to ask!
If you don’t know where I am, I’m either sleeping or roleplaying. If I’m doing neither of those things, except the worst. (Do not actually expect the worst) If you need to talk then PM me. Head Acolyte of The Tree Cult.

Looks like I am a little late to another one. If someone doesn't work out I would like a chance. Have played 5e for over 8 years and have time with older editions as well as other systems. I have not gotten into pbp but am looking to give it a try. I have a bunch of 2024 characters that I have been working on to explore the new rules so I am willing to pick one that will fit in or make a new one if needed. Please send me a message if you have any quesitons.
Sorry I think there's been a misunderstanding; whilst I am only taking on 2-3 additional players to the campaign, applications are going to be open for about a week, so if you would like to apply, please go ahead!
Hiya folks, I am very sorry but for a variety of reasons, I think I'm not going to be able to run this campaign any longer. I'm very, very sorry to let you all down but when considering the scope of the campaign, the time I personally have myself to run it, and some other factors, I don't imagine it'll be possible to do anymore. Hopefully I have mitigated as much disappointment as possible by coming to this decision only a few hours after opening recruitment, and I hope that this sudden decision does not affect anybody's perception of myself as a DM for any future games I run. I adore this concept and did in fact plan a few things in some detail already, although I believe it is best that it is something I revisit in future when I have more time on my hands, availability for games, and also a further fleshed out concept, since it now has time to develop. Once again I really apologise and would have preferred not to have to cancel the campaign, but due to the factors I feel it is something I can no longer run. Hopefully I will see some of you around here on the forums again, I wish you all the best, thank you all for taking an interest.

If this campaign is still happening I would be interested in joining if you ever need another player.
