Rox nods in understanding, though he seems reluctant. The group of raiders are [Tooltip Not Found] to see your party pour onto the street. Unprepared as they are, Hadrian, Evelyn, and Aimonmake the first move.
A whirlwind of emerald energy surrounds Evelyn. When it dissipates, gone is the pale, wild-haired elf woman. In her place is an elk with dark fur, with the same intense green eyes. She moves in front of Aimon, then sprints directly at the kobold next to the home's entrance, lowering her head to ram the small creature.
[Bonus Action]: Wildshape into an Elk [Movement]: 5 NW - 20 W [Action]: Ram kobold (D) to hit: 24, damage: 10. From moving 20 ft before the attack, the target is also knocked prone.
Seeing the cultist and their captives in the distance, and that Evelyn seems to have the kobolds in hand in her massive elk form, Aimon focuses on the far threat.
He sends a bolt of electricity arcing through the air toward the cultist. Something in him bolsters the magic, the swirl of energy far larger than before.
Action: Sorcerous Burst at (A). Attack: 17. Damage: 14 Lightning (rolled an 8 on the first die which allows me to roll another). Movement: 10 W
The kobolds' eyes grow wide as the elf woman - who was already larger than them - transforms into an even larger four-legged creature. Her head slams into the first kobold, crumpling its chest in. Over her shoulder, the sorcerer's bolt of electricity soars through the air, catching the robed cultist directly in the face. Their masks falls to the ground, and their body follows shortly after.
"Gods dammit!" Hadrian swears, flinching as a massive creature sprints past him. From the corner of his eye he'd seen a flare of green...He glances over to see Evelyn gone. Then back to the elk. Ah...
Holding the sword loosely in his hand he strides forward towards the kobolds, so clearly distracted by the woodland creature towering over them. He lashes out with the blade, angling towards the first little humanoid's neck.
Action: Longsword (16to hit), (14 slashing) - Kobold C Movement: 20 W
Hadrian's longsword cuts through the small reptilians throat with ease, and it falls forward grasping the wound.
With a terrified yap the remaining kobold(B) slashes upward with its dagger, grazing the front of Evelyn's elk form. Melee attack:23 to hit, 3 piercing damage
"What the..." Xari has started to figure out that Aimon might be a sorcerer, what with the spell-slinging and no spell book, and that perhaps Evelyn is a druid, but he had not expected an elk to appear on the scene! Maybe if we come upon some wounded, we can strap them to her back...
Movement: Xari circles SW - SW - SW - SW - NW - N to finish just south of Kobold B.
Action: Xari attacks Kobold B with his Greatsword Greatsword to hit: 13 Greatsword damage: 12 (slashing) Greatsword Graze Weapon Mastery: on a miss, the target (Kobold B) still takes damage: 4 (slashing)
The remaining kobold squawks out an expletive in draconic as Xari's giant sword slices through the air towards it. It tries to back step, but the weapon still grazes its torso, cutting a deep wound into it.
Evelyn'shead connects with the kobold's - with a sharp crack the reptilian head snaps back, and it falls to the ground. Further up the road, the bound family huddle close together, fear in their eyes.
"You nearly ran me over."Hadrian says flatly to Evelyn's elk form, "Warn me next time."
He follows after Aimon, dropping the longsword. It hits the ground and shatters into mist as a dagger instead forms in his hands, which he uses to free the prisoners from their bindings while the sorcerer talks to them.
"Aimon!?" Belatedly, you realize you recognize this family. They are the Rathwyns, another (albeit smaller) merchant family that operates out of Greenest, sending spices from the east up along the Sword Coast. The father - Brandon Rathwyn was the one who spoke. His fine vest is torn, his face battered. As Hadrianfrees him, he pulls his young daughter(Calla) and wife(Marena) closer. "Did you?...Was that magic?"
The merchant shakes his head to clear his thoughts. "We're far from okay..." The man swallows hard. "But we're alive, and safe for now thanks to you and your...Friends."
"I have no idea where they meant to take us. They're speaking in no language I've ever heard of."
The mask in your hand is unremarkable in make except for its design, which again mimics that of a blue dragon's features. It's made from leather and dyed a deep blue - the horn some kind of ceramic.
Xari turns, warily circumnavigating Elk-elyn. She's so much bigger than me now! Is this what it feels like to be Rox and have to move around me?
He goes back around the corner to usher Mary, Andy and and the goblin forward. Returning to the group, the big man casts Blade Ward once more.
"Something about blue dragons going on... blue dragon masks, kobolds were basically tiny wannabe blue dragons, saw blue-scaled drakes earlier..."
Xari's voice is contemplative and thoughtful, but he quickly snaps out of his reverie. "But no time to discuss here in the middle of the road with the city under attack. Introductions can wait. Everyone form up behind the dark-haired one with the magically appearing and vanishing weapons," he points at Hadrian. "I'll bring up the rear. Heading to the keep, double-time but quiet. Even the elk. Unless we stumble upon more who need rescuing."
Strange as it is, Evelyn speaks with her own voice from the Elk's mouth. "Is the lordling afraid of his delicate toes being stepped on?" Something that might pass for a chuckle rumbles her beastial form. Any that need to be carried she'll let on her back without protest. Except for perhaps the nobile himself.
She isn't as stealthy in her large form...Nor can she assist Xarian as she had in the past.
Hadrian shoots a glare at the elk, but doesn't respond as he heads back to the main bulk of the group. When everyone is ready, he picks a path that will get them closer to their destination unseen and crouches low. As they travel, he again remains vigilant for further raiding parties.
Evelyn is quick to follow Hadrian out from between the buildings, green eyes flicking over the kobolds and cultist.
[Initiative]: 20
"Are you sure we shouldn't-" Aimon starts to say, gesturing the other way from this new pack of raiders.
"Okay then," he relents and follows Hadrian and Evelyn, already pulling on the threads of the weave.
Initiative: 19
Xarian is guarding the back with Mary and Andy and had just turned to look behind him when the battle breaks out, catching him woefully unprepared.

Hadrian, Aimon, Evelyn once more!
Moving around the big man, Hadrian tries to slash down at the kobold.
Action: Longsword (8 to hit), - Kobold B
Movement: 5W -> 5NW
Careful not to step on her allies, Evelyn repositions and rams her head into the kobold.
[Action]: Ram kobold (C) to hit: 22, damage: 9.
Evelyn's head connects with the kobold's - with a sharp crack the reptilian head snaps back, and it falls to the ground. Further up the road, the bound family huddle close together, fear in their eyes.
With the thugs dealt with, Aimon breathes another sigh of relief and jogs across the ground to the three captives.
"Are you okay?" he asks in his naturally charming tone.
"Do you know where they were taking you?"
He bends down to pick up and inspect the mask the cultist had worn, carefully turning it over in his hands.
"You nearly ran me over." Hadrian says flatly to Evelyn's elk form, "Warn me next time."
