Salt Peet will move up to the house door and knock, again calling for the farmer or his wife. With no answer, he will move around the side of the to the kitchen window.
The window is partly open, the scent of pie is stronger here, wafting out of the kitchen. On the ground under the windows ledge there is an empty pie tin, some pieces of crust and crumbles are all around it.
Salt Peet will investigate around the window, the ground around the pie tin using a magnifying glass, gets real low to see every detail. Inv: 13
Seeing you look around, I would climb onto a building using my agility, I would try doing a perceptive scan of the area using my investigation skill 15
I hoped the farmers weren't injured and I would try to be quiet and remain stealthy.
You climb up onto the roof of the house as Salt Peet scans the ground for clues. Peet see goblin sized foot prints leading back and forth to and from the barn. He tells you about the tracks and from the roof you can clearly see the little trail into the barns open door. You can also see tall grasses behind the barn seem to also indicate a trail as it heads towards the tree line.

Peet will give the okay sign and head towards the barn. He will loudly say as he approaches the open barn door, following the goblin prints, “ oh me, oh my…such a big and delicious pies! However will mes eat this all my selfs!”
Salt Peet will get close to the barn, and inch his way up to the opening, listening intently and scanning for movement inside. Peets perception: 21
He indicates to you with hand signals that he hears something inside the barn. Seeing the goblin tracks continuing into the barn and up to a ladder to the loft, where he hears something moving about.
He finds some remnants of food half eaten, and a few random shiny objects. Silverware, some tools, and a few other bobbles. Without warning something leaps onto Salt Peet, attacking him viciously. Catching him completely off guard.
The critter is too slick and avoids the axe swing. But it disengages and scurries out the front of the barn. Chankla can see the attacker is a large raccoon a sit beat feet towards the grass.
Salt Peet comes out after it, shaking his hand axe and cursing in Kobold for a sec, and the starts laughing. “ Come friend Chankla, more tracks out the back, hope no more fuzz bandits”

(For real tho)
Chankla would jump down from the building as he apologized profusley for not helping you with your racoon problem. He would decide to take the lead as he followed the tracks left behind by the goblins.
You lead the way towards the back door and find the tracks leading into the grass. You notice the. tramped down path through the field that you were able to see from the roof. This trail has clearly been used often and heads towards the tree line roughly 50’ away.
The Sun is shining on this glorious day in Knockon Wood. The town is bustling with adventure seekers from across the realm, the farmers have brought their goods to sell on carts on the main road and the miners stop in for lunch at the Flatulent Marionette. A new stranger comes from the west to seek their fortune in this fine town.
As you carefully and quietly follow the trail through the tall grass, about half way to the trees you see a pit, approximately 10’ diameter and you can hear what sounds like a woman cursing from inside it. ” Dang green-skinned, cattle rustling, pie stealing sons of Orcus…”

Chankla wouldn't expect anything was wrong (due to low roll), he would be looking around, but not making much of the situation.

I would whistle towards you then point towards the barn from my viewpoint as i grab my shortbow with my two hands, I would have an arrow drawn.
I would aim towards the barn entrance hoping you could act as bait for the goblins.
