Quil carries fire in his eyes as he tries to avenge his wounds.
"You cannot win against me, boy" says the commander. He then motions to his two soldiers."Stand aside, this one is mine." However, before Quil and the commander are able to lock into fierce combat, two bolts of magical light, one from Pyrius and the other from Iraneus, simultaneously strike the commander directly in the chest. He is blasted backwards into the counter of the bar, falling unconcious.
The other two soldiers look at each other, then attempt to flee the scene. Before they can, however, Kevinus hits one of them in the leg his morningstar. Seeing he can no longer flee, the soldier makes a counterattack with his spear.
DC: 12 (hit)
Damage: 5
The other soldier leaves his comrade behind, exiting the tavern.
Shortsword (in character sheet): 9 to hit, 8 damage
Then dagger as a BA (without advantage, because I'm doubting a 9 hits): 18 to hit, 10 damage (including 6 Sneak Attack damage if I had an ally within 5 ft.)
Quil swings his shortsword at the spearman, hitting his half-splint chestpiece. The soldier wheels around, only to meet the blade of Quil's dagger. He lets out a cry of pain, then falls dead next to his commander.
The bartender limps over, staring at the bodies of two Roman soldiers lying on the ground of his tavern. "You must flee, brothers. I know you may have saved me, but that was not a very bright idea. The Romans will not take kindly to this..." He stops to think for a second. "Incapacitation of their soldiers."
He pulls out a piece of parchment and starts to crudely sketch a map. "Here, exit this tavern and turn right, then take a left at the first intersection you come to. You'll find a leatherworker's shop run by my friend Justinius. Tell him Tavernius sent you." He hands the map to Iraneus.
This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
Iraneus graciously accepts, and bows to Tavernius saying "Thank you. From one dwarf to another.".
He then notices the battle wounds on Quil and proceeds to cast Cure Wounds on Quil. It heals for 16.
Iraneus tries to loot the body of the commander, searching for gold or equipment, and then beckons for the others to join him on the trip to Justinius.
You see a shortsword and a shield lying next to the commander, covered in blood. As you bend down to search the body, however, you hear Tavernius say, "You do not have time for this, friend. I do not want any more blood to be shed in my tavern today. You must leave. All of you." He motions towards Kevinus, Pyrius, and Quil.
Quil, standing up tall again after being healed, addresses the tavern, pulling several coins (about 5 GP) out from his pockets, flipping them towards the patrons before giving another 5 GP to Tavernius. "I do not want to hear any of you talking about what you saw today. I will know if you do." Then, before Tavernius objects, he grabs the shortsword and leaves with the rest of the group. "Thank you for the ale, bartender."
(OOC: Removing 10 GP from total money & adding a shortsword to inventory)
Iraneus follows Quil out the door, protesting "I found that shortsword! Who do ya think you are, anyways?".
"I get that you healed me, friend, but I would like you to end this dispute. We can argue over this later, but right now, we need to evade the Romans. It would be extremely useful to me in helping protect our group."
You take the left turn indicated by the map given to you by Tavernius. As you squabble over the shortsword, Iraneus runs straight into a Roman officer, flanked by 10 or so soldiers. "Watch where you're going, Dwarf."
"You're lucky I can't deal with you now, stunt," he says, "I have more important business to attend to. Some sort of tavern brawl down the road."
Iraneus quickly changes his mood from petty to collected as he turns towards the soldier.
"Don't call me that if you want information on the so-called 'tavern brawl'. You know, I was just there. I watched it all unfold, and I can tell you who did it."
He then whispers to Quil, "I can either make this very bad for you or very good for us. I would like that shortsword."

(OOC: Stunt is a Dwarvish slur)
Quil walks up to Iraneus, pulling him away from the soldiers. "So sorry, friends! My companion really needs to start looking where you're going," he scolds Iraneus. Then, he whispers to Iraneus, "I'll give you the sword if you keep quiet."
Iraneus whispers back, "Fine. I don't even care about the sword anymore. Just tell me, who are you? And what authority do you have stealing the loot I found on the guy I killed in one shot after I healed you?".

"I needed this weapon.I can repay you for it, and that's all I can let you know."
The officer looks at you curiously, then shakes his head as you whisper amongst yourselves. “I’ve seen this before,” he says, “You’re just trying to make a quick gold piece off of me. You think I would trust a Dwarf?”
He motions for his men to follow him as they walk in the direction of the Taverna Oliva.
"Who I am is unimportant," Kevinus whispers back, "all that matters is that we are being hunted by the Romans, and I am on a mission to take down any and all Romans, including Cassius."
