Delilah

The young dark-haired lady follows along, almost unseen as she wraps he magical cloak around herself, and with her invisible mischivous accomplice also keeping lookout from her shoulder.

DM Okir carefully opens the door which is unlocked. He leads into the room beyond. The sound of flapping gets louder. Okir sees a stirges nest high up towards the ceiling. They immediately attack those of the party that they can see, two head towards each person.

The bard gives a cry of disgust at the sight of the insects, instinctively hurling fire at one of the pair heading towards himself.

Action: fire bolt to hit 19, damage 10 fire

OOC assume that my stealth roll is not relevant and I have two heading toward me.  Also I posted in the OOC post for guidance.

Okir

Looks quickly at my team mate that followed to confirm if a warning is needed.  Realizes it is not, keeps silent as he is next to the wall, Okir squares to the wall simultaneously reaches for both hand crossbows and fires on the two different targets that are heading towards him.

Right hand fires +6 20 damage if it hits 1d6+4 9

Left hand fires +6  7  damage if it hits 1d6+4 8

Bronnryn Hethgar

Seeing the stirges coming at her, Bronnryn casts Toll the Dead at one of them. (WIS Save DC 15 or take 3 necrotic damage)

Delilah

The young dark-haired lady is grimaces at the revolting sight of the tiny winged monsters and their nightmarish nest, and she swiftly brings out her slender fey wand from under her elven cloak and unleashes an azure beam of eldritch crackling force towards the closest pesky little bloodsucker.

Okir 

Having shot his bolt, he looks toward the door they want to enter, weighing how far away it is and wondering if it is unlocked.

Okir is holstering the xbows, and feeling for one dagger to draw.

Mavilius

The firebolt kills the stirge outright the smell of scorched wings makes you gag. The second stirge tries to attack but misses as Mavilius swiftly turns away.

Your left hand crossbow twangs and a stirge falls dead. The second crossbow misses.

Bronnryn

Toll the dead rings out and a stirge falls at your feet dead. The other attempts to stab you with its bloody proboscis, It succeeds in finding a gap in your armour and you feel a sharp stab in your neck, its claws dig in deep to hold onto you. You take 7 points of damage.

Delilah

At first the stirges are unaware of your presence but then you used magic allowing them to gain a focus on you. The nearest stirge stops in midair then collapses onto the floor. The second stirge flies in extending its clawed legs to get a grip on you, but can not pierce your armour.

OOC

Okir

Okir holsters the now unloaded crossbows, then dashes to the door to see if it is unlocked.  He slowly checks the door handle to see if it is unlocked.   If locked he pulls a couple of tools and  (Sleight of Hand +13 30).  

Once Okir is sure the door is unlocked he slowly opens it to see what is on the other side.  He hopes nothing is so that his new team can get in their safely as he controls the door to prevent any striges from getting in.

Mavilius

The tiefling frowns in annoyance as he deftly avoids the second stirge, his golden gaze fixing on the source of the creatures: their disgusting nest.

"I imagine they'll keep coming until we exterminate that," he calls, sending another handful of flame toward the nest this time.

Action: fire bolt to hit 15, damage 3 fire.

Bronnryn Hethgar

Bronnryn lets out a brief yelp as the stirge pierces her neck. She again casts Toll the Dead on the stirge that had attacked her. (WIS Save DC 15 or take 2 necrotic damage) 

Looking over at Okir she asks, "Is the next room clear?"

Okir

The door opens silently at Okirs touch. (D8c). Rubble lies scattered across the floor where part of the roof has collapsed, revealing the sky. Perched atop the rubble is a hunched figure wrapped in a purple cloak. It gazes at the sky, unaware of you. You see spines poking through the cloak.

The firebolt hits the nest headon and it erupts into flame, blood erupting , angry stirges flying around it trying to stop the mini inferno. Best to be gone before they decide on revenge

She casts toll the dead again and the stirge latched onto her lets go with a hiss then falls at her feet.

The eldritch blast hits and you see the stirge blown apart.

Mavilius

Mavilius takes the cue to hastily exit stage left (or right, depending on which direction the newly opened room is in). He gives a theatrical spin and bow at no one, before stopping to look around and noticing the cloaked figure above. He points at it and glances at Okir curiously, wondering if it might be a friend from his party.

Okir

 After peaking inside, Then looking at the party to gauge their success.   Okir sees Mavilius nearby staring at him.  

Okir shrugs his shoulder.  Then unsure if Mavilius knows sign language, he signs,

"who or what is that spiny thing?"

Mavilius

The tiefling doesn't know sign language, but is able to gauge Okir's meaning by his questioning look. He casts message to keep the discussion between them silent. "I don't know the creature either, I'm afraid. Probably another poor soul twisted by the Far Plane energies here. It looks distracted, so perhaps we could sneak by...but what if it's Marcos?" He will also cast message on the others one by one as they enter the room, saying much the same.

Okir

Loads the two crossbows as he stands guard near the door waiting on the others. to arrive.  As the short range is 30" he is also gauging if there is another attack on the other two and if Okir can shoot as covering fire.

Okir realizes he spoke with Mavilius, he replies, "if it is tortured, maybe we should put it out of his misery?  Remember Glras (sic) statement, if we see their body, destroy it.  If it is Marcus, we definitely should."

Okir is hoping that he does not need to shoot Stirges as then the spiny creature can absorb his bolts if needed instead.

Bronnryn Hethgar

Bronnryn hurries across the room containing the stirges and into the one with the collapsed roof. Seeing the odd cloaked figure pointed out by others, she intends to move quietly past towards the descending stairs. (Stealth: 22)

Okir

As Okir is waiting by the door, he looks to ensure there are no Stirges on Bronnryn.  

Okir thinks come on Delilah, get to the door. then I can get in and away from these nasty stirges.

Okir is standing watch by the door ensuring no Stirges are tryin to get in nor attacking Delilah as she moves.
